Dr. Ryan K. VanLaecken received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) in 1994 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry. He practiced general dentistry for five years, receiving the Outstanding Young Dentist of South Dakota Award in 1997. In 1999, Dr. Ryan returned to school to obtain his Master of Science degree in Dentistry and his Certificate in Orthodontics from West Virginia University College of Dentistry in 2002. Dr. Ryan is passionate about providing quality orthodontic care.
In his spare time, Dr. Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children, as well as traveling, golfing and pheasant hunting with his black lab, Bishop. Dr. Ryan and his wife are involved in many community and church activities as well as promoting the education of young people.
Dr. Rob S. VanLaecken is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Dental Association. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska in 2008. He completed his three-year orthodontic residency program, earning his Master of Science degree, at West Virginia University in 2011. He is board eligible for the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.
In his free time, Dr. Rob enjoys golfing, curling, hunting and fishing. Dr. Rob, his wife, Kristin, and their children are involved in community and church activities. Dr. Rob also enjoys volunteering with PACH (People Against Child Hunger) and teaching CCD.
Dr. Nate T. VanLaecken is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Dental Association. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 2017. While there, he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota where he completed his orthodontic residency program, earning his Master of Science Degree in 2019. He is board eligible for the College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics.
When hes not working, Dr. Nate and his wife, Kelley, enjoy spending time with their son, Rhett, daughter, Nora, and their dog, Duke. He enjoys golf, basketball, traveling, and spending time outdoors. He is looking forward to getting involved with the community through church, volunteer programs, and his sons activities.
Our team is highly trained and regularly attends continuing education courses to keep current with the latest techniques available to our profession. Our orthodontic assistants are registered with the State of South Dakota in radiology and expanded functions and are CPR certified.

Our practice has a digital x-ray machine, which means it is basically a photograph of the teeth and jaws. It uses far less radiation than a traditional x-ray machine. We will routinely take digital x-rays over the course of your time in braces to ensure treatment is going well and allow our doctors to make diagnostic decisions. Every patient will receive additional records in the middle of treatment to allow our doctors to make any adjustments, if needed, in the treatment plans. He will discuss these records with the parents or patient.

Dr Ryan and his staff are absolutely wonderful. They go above and beyond to take care of their patients. I had a wonderful experience with my extensive situation and they helped the whole way and are extremely caring, helpful, friendly through out the treatment. This is the place to go with any orthodontic treatment you need.

Staff and the Doctors are very friendly and knowledgeable. They went through in detail what to expect in the whole orthodontic experience. The payment options they provide are very budget friendly, and have options available, so everyone is able to get the work done that is needed.

Great experience from the time of scheduling! Upon arrival we were met with a smile and warm welcome. We got right in to visit with Lisa as this was my 7 yr old sons first visit. He was very curious about everything and asked a ton of questions. Lisa answered every single one of them to help make him at ease. I can't say enough nice things about her. Dr Nate was awesome too! He was warm and welcoming and answered my sons questions and we discussed the next steps which they are able to accommodate in house which helped reduce our cost. I'm very excited to continue to work with them on my sons care! I highly recommend them!!

Dr. Rob went above and beyond when our son took an elbow to his front teeth during a HS BBB game . It was a Saturday evening and an employee of his, (Courtney S )who knows us, told him how a patient of his ended up with a couple loose front teeth from an elbow. He called us that evening , talked us through it and had us come in on Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday ! He was so understanding, positive and very caring. He had Mom feeling at ease and the patient was relaxed and comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr. Rob and VanLaecken Orthodontics .
