Dr. Laura VanDyk is a Sumner native, originally raised on Lake Tapps. Dr. VanDyk received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Washington in 2004. She then attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where she received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2008. Dr. VanDyk began her dental career in Sumner as an associate to Dr. Rolf Edlund and is proud to carry on in his footsteps.
Dr. VanDyk and her husband, Corty, also a Sumner High School graduate, feel blessed to be able to call Sumner their home again. The VanDyk family has expanded over the past years with the addition of two wonderful children, Corty Isaac and Reace Angle, as well as Oakley and Roxy, their Yellow Labs. The family enjoys many activities including snow skiing, camping, boating, hiking and golfing.
Dr. VanDyk places a high value on providing excellent, quality dentistry to all of her patients. She is constantly expanding her dental knowledge and skills through dental continuing education opportunities. Dr. VanDyk is excited about her career in the dental profession and the opportunity to live and work in the Sumner and Lake Tapps area.
Marj loves to help people. She studied to become a dental hygienist, graduating from Pierce College in 1999. She has been working in our office since 2001. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Marj has been residing in the Sumner area since 1995. Although she is a transplant to Sumner, Marj has enjoyed getting to know about Washington state (and the rest of the country) vicariously through her patients. She enjoys working in a friendly, patient-centered office.
Debbie became a dental hygienist in 1998 and has been working with the practice since 2006. She and her husband, Guy, have three wonderful children. Debbie enjoys working with Dr. VanDyk, helping patients to achieve healthy teeth and gums. She has a gentle touch and works hard to educate patients about oral health. Outside the office, Debbie enjoys camping, traveling, and being a GREAT MOM and GRANDMA to three beautiful grand babies.
Kate graduated as a hygienist from the Shoreline Dental Hygiene Program in 1999. She has been working with the practice since 2005. She enjoys working with Dr. VanDyk, striving to provide kind, caring dental treatment to all her patients. She likes meeting new people and having the opportunity to help them achieve a healthy smile. Kate grew up in the Seattle area and now lives in Sumner. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three boys.
Kristie joined the VanDyk team in 2017. As the newest hygienist, Kristie brings energy and a fresh perspective. Kristie received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Western Washington University and earned her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Pierce College. Kristie was born and raised in Puyallup, WA. It is not uncommon for her to know many of our patients, new and old. Kristie is also an active member in Young Life. In her free time she enjoys travelling, cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Kristie and her husband recently purchased their first home together, they are learning the joys of construction and remolding!
Alicia has been with VanDyk Dental since 2010. She is a certified surgical dental assistant and trained phlebotomist. Alicia brings energy and enthusiasm to all she does. She wants to help patients overcome their dental fears, relax and enjoy their beautiful teeth and smiles. She describes Dr. VanDyk as a kind, calming and top-notch dentist! She particularly enjoys continuing her education in the dental field, bringing new and enhanced skills back to the practice. She spends her spare time enjoying family life with her husband, son Ashton and golden retriever Barkley.
Karra has been a dental assistant since 2009 and joined the VanDyk dental team in 2013. In the time Karra has been with our office, she has enjoyed working with the fun, energetic, caring group of people that strive to give the best quality of dental care to every patient. Karra, a native to the area, continues to enjoy living in Sumner, and looks forward to raising her two daughters here as well. Karra, an energetic mom, loves spending time with her beautiful, two young daughters.
Tiawna has been a dental assistant since 2013. She loves working with Dr. VanDyk and her amazing team, helping to create happy, healthy smiles. Tiawna was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. She currently resides in the Lake Tapps area with her husband Drew and dog Velly.
Julie has worked in dentistry for over 24 years. Out of the other areas Julie has worked, she enjoys the patients in Sumner the best. Julie prides herself in making every person that walks through the door feel welcome and comfortable. Julie, her husband and daughter are residence of Sumner and enjoy being a part of the community. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, traveling, gardening and spending time with her family.
Anne has enjoyed all aspects of dentistry for 20-plus years. She is a registered dental assistant and enjoys using her experience working in the front office. She and her husband, Todd, have three children, Brandi, Blake, and Matisse, who have all ventured off into the college life. In her spare time, Annie enjoys watching sports, cooking, wine tasting, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
