Dr. Brian Kerr was raised in Tacoma, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington State University, before moving to Portland for his dental education. He earned his dental degree at OHSUand has been practicing in Tacoma ever since.

Dr. Christopher VanDerhoef is a northwest native and returned home to practice dentistry after obtaining his degree from the University of Southern California Ostrow School of Dentistry. For his undergraduate studies, he completed his degree in Biological Sciences at Marquette University. Dr. VanDerhoef takes great pride in his work and is committed to quality dental care in a comfortable environment. He especially enjoys treating each patient as an individual and working with them as active participants in achieving their healthy and vibrant smiles. He continues to commit himself to a lifetime of learning as he seeks out and enjoys many hours of continuing dental education. He is an active member of local study clubs. Dr. VanDerhoef is routinely recognized by his peers as a Top Dentist.
Dr. VanDerhoef has obtained his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. This award is given to a small number of dentists who exhibit their commitment to continuing education and learning. This required hundreds of hours of continuing education followed by the fellowship exam.
Dr. Whitney Berens, D.M.D., grew up in a military family and she considers Kitsap County home. After graduating from Central Kitsap High Schoolin 1996, Dr. Berens attended Ripon Collegein Ripon, Wisconsin. After college, Dr. Berens attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicinein Boston, Massachusetts where she was recognized for her exceptional academic performance with an Award for High Clinical Achievement and the A. Albert Yurkstas Award.
During dental school, Dr. Berens commissioned as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Berens exceptional academic performance during dental school earned her the highly competitive United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship and the opportunity to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency.
She successfully completed the residency at the United States Air Force Academyin Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2005 before reporting to her next duty station at Grand Forks Air Force Basein Grand Forks, North Dakota. Dr. Berens separated from active duty in 2007 while her husband, Mike, was deployed.
Dr. Berens worked part-time in private practice in North Dakota and in Alabama as a result of her husbands continued military service before she and her family returned to Washington in 2011. Dr. Berens and her husband have three children that keep them very busy with a host of extracurricular activities. As a family, they most enjoy skiing at Crystal Mountain, camping at Washington State Parks and spending time on the seashore.

I am a new patient. last week I got a dental crown at this place and I'm REALLY UPSET with the final result!!! I was kinda expecting this result because Dr. VanDerhoef instead of focusing working on the teeth, he was talking about his holiday plan with his assistant while he was working on the teeth. It seems like the crown not fitted properly and it's not covering the whole teeth. I can feel it clearly. it is like something weird just glued on the teeth. the crown is on my left side and I can clearly feel that it is shorter than the right side. food also getting stuck around the crown. I have done a crown before, in a different place. I cant even remember on which teeth it was because it is so natural. Unfortunately I didn't have access to the previous dentist so I found this place with 100+ 5 star review and I thought it is a great place, BUT I WAS WRONG!! In case you are wondering how much it cost me to do the crown; it cost $1837 I will update my review if this crown get fixed!

Did routine clean up a few days back, the front desk check in was very smooth since I have profile already, Hygienist was very professional and efficient, overall service was very good, all the staff were fully masked, so patients can safely took off their masks to enjoy the service, 5 stars

A note about my own experience. I still cannot persuade myself I had a good experience with the clinic after two years. I think my case was a never event. There was a small cavity on my lateral incisor (right next my central incisor). It is clear that any dental operation around this area should be taken care of very carefully so I found the clinic with highest rating around Bellevue - the VanDerhoef Smiles. However, when doing the operation, the doctor only appears less than 15 minutes and most of the parts are done by a 'helper'. The 'helper' mistakenly worked on my central incisor and that was a disaster..... I can feel they took a lot of time to fix their mistake and do filling to my central incisor. I think they messed up :) I really felt very bad when I got out of the clinic. No one told me about their mistake and let me know was really going on. I can clearly feel my central incisor have a big filling on the back. I found VanDerhoef Smiles because I felt they will care about my smiles the most, but I just don't want to go back to that place ever again in my life. My suggestion to VanDerhoef Smiles: please really spend more time on new patients, do more communication before operation, and hire professional, responsible people. My suggestion to new patients: be very careful about critical operations and please don't put your trust to them easily. From my experience, they may not worthy of your trust. At least, they lost my trust. Response to Dr. VanDerhoef, Thank you for your reply. Your reply is very warm for me. I revised the review score already because I think it is common for everyone to make mistakes (even for the experts). I love the fact that VanDerhoef Smiles could really face the problem and try to resolve it. This could already be a very high standard as a dental clinic. I've been a patient of Dr. VanDerhoef's, for a very long time. It's always a great experience. Even after I moved to the South Sound, I continue to make the trip North, which is 100 miles, round trip. 5 stars!!

I highly recommend Dr. VanDerhoef! He was extremely patient and did a wonderful job explaining the treatment I was receiving. He adjusted my bite to make sure I felt comfortable before I left. You can't go wrong with this office!

I have been going to Dr. Vanderhoef for at least 12 years. I have extremely complicated teeth as does my husband. I have a lot of confidence and trust in Dr. Vanderhoef. He is very efficient, respectful and straightforward. His whole office is filled with high quality people from the check in through check out. His whole organization is top notch. And you can tell they are constantly improving and growing. Thank you, Dr. vanderhoef and company for providing such excellent dental health care.

This is the best dentist office ever. Very high tech, modern, with a very friendly staff and soothing atmosphere. Shayden is a very efficient, friendly, and professional hygienist. She makes you feel very comfortable, is very knowledgeable of your teeth and gives you excellent tips to keep them healthy. Dr. VanDerhoef is a cut above any dentist out there. He is thorough, knowledgeable, and I trust his judgment in keeping my teeth at their best. I would also like to commend the office staff for their attentiveness, welcoming smile and knowledge of procedures and costs.
