We strictly maintain cross-contamination and sterilization process using the standard recommended by the ADA (American Dental Association), CDC (Center for Disease Control), and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.

Welcome to the About the Doc page. Ive written this short biography to help prospective patients get a feel for both myself, and the values our office holds important. Choosing a dentist is such a personal decision. I want prospective patients to feel comfortable about their dental care at my office before ever stepping through our door.
I grew up in Northern California and attended the University of California, San Diego. After graduating from UCSD with degrees in Animal Physiology, Neuroscience and Urban Planning, I took the short trip up the coast to the University of Southern California for my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Upon my graduation from dental school, I headed straight to Arizona to begin my dental career. Several years later, and with my own office, I have settled into the Arizona lifestyle quite comfortably.
Throughout my career, Ive always placed a high priority on staying up to date with the latest research, education, and techniques. I average 76 hours of Continuing Education every year; three times the amount required by the Arizona Dental Licensing Board. I feel so strongly about the value of staying current with my career, that in 2009 I founded Arrowhead Education LLC. Arrowhead Education is a company that provides cutting edge dental education classes to dentists from all over the Phoenix Valley. This allows me even more exposure to great courses, as well as an avenue to give back to the profession (and ultimately the patients) with quality dental education.
Additionally, in 2011 I became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. The FAGD award is a culmination of 500 hours of specialized study classes, and involves a comprehensive exam and application process. More than just extra letters after your name, this designation recognizes a true mastery of comprehensive general dentistry, rather than just a focus on a single discipline like cosmetics or surgery.
This level of education has many benefits for prospective patients. You will probably notice that my office offers true comprehensive care, including dental implants and adult cosmetic orthodontics. My experience has taught me that, when possible, patients much prefer to be treated by a doctor with whom theyve already established a trusted relationship. Having the experience and education to offer these services allows patients the comfort and convenience of having all their treatment completed under one roof.
Outside of dentistry, I am an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy hiking, biking, fourwheeling, target shooting, lacrosse, and several other year round activities afforded by our favorable climate here in sunny Arizona.
In closing, Id like to offer our patient promise: We will do everything possible to make your visit to the dentist as enjoyable as possible. We understand that its probably not too high on your list of favorite things to do, but well do our best to provide quality treatment in a comfortable environment. You will be seen in a timely manner; we respect your time and ask that you respect ours. You will always see the same faces at our office and there is not a revolving dentist door; I am the owner and operator and will never delegate your treatment to a lesser associate or partner doctor. Every person I've had the pleasure to speak with here is incredible. I'm so lucky I was referred to Dr. Van S and his team, and I hope I never have to see a different dentist....ever! Heather is receptionist extraordinaire -- always friendly, has an outstanding memory, and makes you feel like a longtime friend. She is always available and is great at keeping up with cancellations if you're looking for a spot as soon as possible. Nicole is the world's greatest dental assistant! She gives you personal attention, is efficient in her work, will make anyone and everyone smile, and is so comforting to be around. Dr. Van S is engaging with everyone, open to questions and always provides understandable answers, quick in his work, never shames you if you haven't been brushing/flossing perfectly, and knows how to handle dental anxiety with ease. The shots to numb before fillings from other dentists usually hurt worse than the filling, but Dr. Van S is the ONLY dentist to give me shots that don't hurt at all -- even in the very front of my gums. His hiking adventures around the world make for fabulous conversation as well. I can't recommend them enough!

I usually don't like going to the dentist, but Dr. Van Sluyters and his staff, changed my mind!!! Heather, at the front desk is so kind, helpful, and welcoming. Nicole who took my x-rays and who did my cleaning, so fast, efficient, careful and nice. Dr. Van Sluyters, took time to get to know me, answered my questions and was so compassionate and very through with my examination. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Van Sluyters and his staff, except to say I immediately went to see my daughter, and brought his card to her and encouraged her to make an appointment! Thank you for making a dreaded trip to the dentist a positive experience!!!

I have had the most wonderful experience with this office. I've been going to here for several years now and the entire office is so kind and professional. I used to have dental anxiety but Dr Eric, Heather, Mayra, and Nicole made me feel so comfortable and at home! I love this office! Everyone is so sweet and kind. The dentist is so cute and knowledgeable. I'm a patient for life!

I absolutely love Dr. Van Sluyters. I have extreme fear and when the regular treatment didn't work for me he did some research and found an alternative that really worked wonders!! I think I even fell asleep while they were working on my teeth. It was a completely remarkable experience. I recently had a bite made to assist with Trigeminal Neuralgia and grinding. This is my 1st one from this practice but my 4th overall. The staff here really go above and beyond. They made sure to clean all of the plaster out of my mouth and really took extra care to make sure I was comfortable. I never thought I would love any dentist but I really love this guy!!

First time going to Dr. Sluyters today and the experience was as good as it can get. I am like a 5 year old when it comes to going to the dentist, I'm terrified of it. My family has seen Dr. Van Sluyter for years. He and his staff are very professional and friendly. We are self insured and his pricing is reasonable and we appreciate that. On a few occasions Dr. Van Sluyter has needed to refer us to a specialist and his referrals were excellent. We highly recommend them.
