Dr. Jonathan Volz is pleased to call Grandview his home. Originally hailing from Olympia, Washington, he attended Seattle Pacific University to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and went on to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Volz returned to Washington State to begin his career in dentistry in 1996, working with his cousin, Dr. David Grow, in Prosser, WA. In 2005 he took over Valley Family Dentistry from his uncle, Dr. Ron Grow, who retired after 40 years of serving residents of the Lower Valley. Dr. Volz met his wife Marta, a Prosser native, and they have six children, Madeline, Jackson, Calvin, Gideon, Avenley, and Benjamin.
Dr. Volz has varied interests, including subjects such as military history, philosophy, theology, music, and chess. He enjoys attending rodeos, concerts, and sporting events. He loves teaching, but lately has spent much of his time coaching T-ball, soccer, and flag football, and delighting in the beautiful gifts of children and family. Theres never a dull moment in the Volz household with six active youngsters!
Without a doubt, dentistry is one of Dr. Volzs greatest passions. The science of dentistry has evolved exponentially over the past few decades, and Dr. Volz has been able to stay on the cusp of advancing theories, techniques, and technology because of his extensive post-doctorate education. Excelling in his vocation has required hundreds of hours of training through such esteemed institutions as the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Great Blue Heron (Seattle) Study Club, as well as various other hands-on and didactic courses. He is one of less than fifty Washington dentists to graduate from the Kois Center for Advanced Dental Education. His devotion to the craft of dentistry is obvious when talking with him, and when asked to distill his thoughts on the subject, he responded, Dentistry is about relationship. In order for a person to feel good about their health care decisions, they need to have confidence in their provider. It must be evident that the doctor and team have the patients best interests at the forefront. There has to be integrity in the way that we diagnose and treat challenges. I need my patients to know that I care about them personally, and about their overall health and quality of life as they are affected by their oral health.
Over the years, Dr. Volz has been active in the community, serving in the Grandview Rotary Club, on the Medical Advisory Board of Life Options, and on the Executive Board of the Ezra Bible Institute. He has volunteered his time as a dentist at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission, and has worked as a clinical instructor at the Yakima Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic. Dr. Volz is a talented guitarist, having played in various local groups over the years and on the worship team at Grandview Church of the Nazarene. He is a proud member of the Grandview Chamber of Commerce and the National Rifle Association.
Often referred to as 'The Queen of Insurance', Susan is an amazing coordinator of all that goes on as our week unfolds. Whether in the administrative area or the clinical setting, this Grandview native is sure to be a familiar face.
Yvette enjoys working with our clients as a dental hygienist. Raised in Yakima, she trained for her profession at Yakima Valley Community College. Yvette is fluent in Spanish, and just about the sweetest person youll ever meet.
Candee is one of our wonderful hygienists, whose smiling face is sure to brighten anyone's day! She is also a YVCC graduate and Grandview native. Candee has four beautiful children who keep her very busy.
Hilary is another member of our Dental Hygiene team. Like Yvette and Candee, she is a YVCC School of Dental Hygiene alumnus. Along with her hygiene duties, we also utilize Hilary as our resident tech support. She has been enjoying her new role as mom to a bouncing baby boy.

I give valley family dentistry 5 stars because they always work with my schedule they're always friendly and I being going there for so many years never had any inconveniences with them they do a great job, thanks for so many years of good work.

Such a great experience. I didn't have a regular dental office and had horrible tooth aches they were able to get me in next day helped me with insurance issues and were so friendly and courteous. The staffing and dentist and dental assistants did an amazing job !

I'm not a big fan of having to go to the dentist because of my tooth sensitivity but Hilary takes great care of of me so I have pain free appointments. Can't tell you how much I appreciate that. They are all always very nice from the front desk to Dr. Volz.
