Valley Dental Pediatrics - General dentist in Vestal, NY

Dr. Tunison knew that she wanted to become a dentist when she explored different healthcare careers at the New Visions program through Arnot Health and Elmira Free Academy in 1999. Dr. Tunison then placed in the Early Decision Program at the University at Buffalo for early entrance to be accepted into the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Tunison graduated from the University at Buffalo with a degree in Anthropology, with an extra focus on health sciences.

Dr. Tunison spent her summer doing an archeology dig at Fort Niagara in Niagara Falls, NY. She knew that she wanted to make a career out of helping children from a very young age. She had started as a 'PAL' volunteer mentor when in high school at Elmira Free Academy, where she also spent summers working as a camp counselor and a lifeguard. Throughout college she engaged in another volunteer mentor program in Buffalo, the 'Big Brother and Big Sister' program.

Dr. Tunison also loved working as a barista in an Italian coffee shop, and working at a bakery learning new recipes and serving homemade baked goods and homemade ice cream. When she talks to your family about cavity prevention, she understands that sweets and goodies can be all around us!

Dr. Tunison loved dental school, and enjoyed every opportunity to spend volunteer hours during the school year and summer working as an volunteer at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo helping provide pediatric dental care. Dr. Tunison was so grateful to then continue her training as a pediatric dental resident at the same hospital upon completion of her doctor of dental surgery degree from the University at Buffalo.

Dr. Tunison received her certificate of speciality training in pediatric dentistry in 2010 from the University at Buffalo and Children's Hospital Program (now John R. Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo), and she has been serving our local community ever since. Each year we participate in Children's Dental Health Month volunteer services, and Dr. Tunison acted as the chair for Children's Dental Health Month for the Sixth District Dental Society from 2015-2020.Dr. Tunison became a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2011, and has been passionate about continuing her education with weekend and evening classes focusing on pediatric care each year.

Dr. Tunison welcomes every morning as a gift to show new patient families that their children can feel safe, have fun, and have a confident and HAPPY visit, even when undergoing necessary treatment needs. In her free time Dr. Tunison loves hiking at local parks with her family and creating new recipes for families that are economical, easy, delicious, and part of your no cavity plan! She also loves practicing yoga and building legos with her son Crosby. She loves supporting the arts in our community, especially music and dance. You will hear her singing your favorite Disney songs when you are around the office. You also may see her in a future production of the Rafael Grigorian Ballet Company.

Dr. Jessica Campbell is a board-certified pediatric dentist. A native of Hamilton, New Jersey, she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from The College of New Jersey. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, graduating magna cum laude. She was selected by the UB pediatric dental faculty to be the recipient of the James Collord Memorial Award for exemplifying commitment to oral care for children. Dr. Campbell then pursued two years of specialized training at Geisinger Medical Center/Janet Weis Childrens Hospital in rural Danville, Pennsylvania where she served as Chief Resident in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Campbell is passionate about caring for children and adults with special needs, and she takes a special interest in reducing and preventing dental fear and anxiety. As a formerly anxious dental patient herself, Dr. Campbell understands how important it is for children to have positive, fun experiences at the dentist. Her friendly, patient demeanor puts fearful children (and parents!) at ease.

Outside of the office, Dr. Campbells biggest passions are spending time with her wirehaired Dachshunds, horseback riding, and enjoying the outdoors. Her favorite superhero is Iron Man, although the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a close second! She and her husband Lorne are enjoying experiencing all the Greater Binghamton area has to offer. Additionally, once a month Dr. Campbell returns to Danville, PA to help supervise, teach, and share her passion for pediatric dentistry with Geisinger Medical Center's dental residents.

Dr. Demorizi graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2010. Upon completion of her dental education, she continued her training in dentistry by becoming a General Practice Resident at Montefiore Medical Center. She has been practicing for 8 years and had the opportunity to treat both pediatric and adult patients in all aspects of general dentistry. It was in treating pediatric patients that she became passionate about instilling in them the importance of good oral hygiene. She believes that a childs early dental experience will guide their oral hygiene practices, willingness to seek regular checkups, and to pursue the necessary treatment as an adult. This is what drove her to enroll in the Pediatric Dental Residency at Tufts. Through the Pediatric Dental Residency, she continued to hone her techniques in treating pediatric patients in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The Pediatric Dental Residency has also helped her gain experience in applying various behavioral management techniques, sedation, and operating room experience. Outside of dentistry she enjoys cooking, outdoors, and photography. Dr. Demorizi and her husband welcome their first baby December 2020.

Another underpaid and unrecognized job, for angels without wings, who go above and beyond their job scopes to make everyone feel safe and knowledgeable! After a recent traumatic visit at another local pediatric dentist office (not mentioning names, because I don't want to *slander* an entire dentistry firm because, 1 dentist out of their handful of dentists, lacked the patience and gentle demeanor to work with adolescents). A family friend/neighbor recommended Valley Dental Pediatrics to us. This place went above my expectations! They were everything that the other office lacked and MORE!! Even with a similar sort of lay out, I felt that each patient was given the necessary privacy. The dental hygienist went above the job descriptions to help ease the minds of both the patient (the kid) and the anxious parent. Everyone was very welcoming, kind, and non judgemental of burned out, stressed parents (unlike our last pediatric dentist). At Valley Dental Pediatrics, ALL employees were very helpful and tried to explain everything as thorough as possible. Although they are without a doubt, probably swamped with patients, the employees do a great job with coping and handling, caseload/work-related stressors. The employees made all patients feel important and took qualitive time to ensure that every patient was treated fairly and accordingly, without feeling like we were rushed out the door, as just another number to bill Fedelis. (Patients and parents do NOT have to sit and listen to continuous loud sighs of annoyance and under-the-breathe comments made between the hygienist and the actual dentist, comparing your kids to the day's other previous patient's, that were also considered "non cooperative," for a lack of better words). After our previous traumatic Dental experience, I didn't think we would ever make it through an entire dentist appointment again...(PEACEFULLY)..but all the thanks to Valley Dental Pediatrics..I watched my daughter skip out the doors towards our car with the most biggest, and confident smile on her face. I still can't believe that she is actually excited about going to the dentist again! Thank you Valley Pediatrics for helping my little girl feel safe again at a dentist office! Also as well as helping make, the mom job a little easier and less chaotic. I would 100% recommend them the anyone!! The only thing I regret is not taking my daughter here initially, from the start. Wish I had heard about this place sooner!!

Have been going to Valley Dental for my children since 1 year of age. They have created a fun, safe environment that they both enjoy visiting bi-annually. Ages 3 and 6 and there is no fear and the Hygienists and Dentists are always so great with the kids!

Amazing experience from start to finish. The dental hygienist (Nancy) was so sweet and kind to my daughter who has some anxiety about going to the dentist. The dentist (Dr Campbell) was thorough and efficient which made the appointment that much easier. My daughter was so excited to see her name written on the board, to play with the chalkboard wall and to earn a prize at the end. These people genuinely love their patients and make sure your child has a fantastic time from start to finish.
