Dr Bankhead and his staff have been great to work with. It's never fun to go and get your mouth worked on, but they definitely lighten the load with their personalities. The work is great, and they've been very accommodating with all of my scheduling needs as well. I would recommend them to anyone!

I've had gum graft procedures on two different parts of my mouth and a third one coming up and it's been a great experience! I haven't felt much discomfort following the procedures and the checkup appointments are always quick and easy. The whole staff is great and Dr. Bankhead follows up with me occasionally as well. My gums and smile look great now and the tooth sensitivity I was experiencing, which led me to their office, has gone away after the procedures!

I had such a great experience during my consult with Dr. Bankhead. Their office was extremely clean and inviting. The staff was incredibly helpful and polite and made the experience very comforting. I would recommend them to anyone looking for the best service out there. They even have free frozen yogurt that is delicious!

Dr. Bankhead shared his experience which left me with zero worry, when the operation happened it was fast, the instructions they left we with were clear, and when I came back in for my checkup, I was welcomed by name. I haven't gotten any frozen yoghurt yet but I love that they have an ice cream machine in the office, just in case someone needs a snack for the road.

Procedure: Gum Graft (4 lower front teeth) and Stint (permanent retainer). Would NOT recommend. A plus for Dr. Bankhead (aside from his years of experience and ample resume, which he will remind you of frequently) is that he has uploaded videos of procedures to YouTube. It is terrifying to watch what he'll do, but I think it helped me have my eyes a bit more open to the intensity of the procedures. I do think he is experienced and capable. I wish they had been more straightforward about expectations for results and recovery. When I asked repeatedly about recovery, they basically just said "stitches will come out in 2-5 days, and you'll be pretty bruised." In my experience, Doc Bankhead was somewhat patronizing. Ask questions, but do your own research too. Things I wish I had known better: - For gum graft recovery, think puffy zombie that fades to hulk-colored bruising. You can't really eat or talk/smile for about 12 days = zero energy for regular duties for the duration of the healing process. Do NOT have surgery if you are a SAHM or manual laborer and can't get hands on help or time off for at least a week after. I was totally down for the count for almost 2 weeks. They shouldn't have advised a nursing mom to have this surgery. Blood-loss from surgery + decreased nutrition + healing....will wipe you out. - Ask them to go over your recovery bag, medications, and instructions BEFORE your surgery and anesthesia. They hand it to the person who drives you home. You will feel trashed and it would really help if you knew beforehand your med routine (there's an antibiotic, steroid, and two pain meds). The complementary tea-bags work phenomenally for staunching bleeding the first day. - Even if you follow all the rules, and your doc is awesome, your gum graft may not heal perfectly. It is possible your gum-line will appear lower than prior to surgery although it will be thicker, which is a good barometer for healthier gums, apparently. - LeAnn was awesome at the front desk and helpful with intake. I'm sad I missed the era when she assisted with surgery. Kandra Phipps assisted with my surgery. Don't let her do your stint unless you are awake and you can verify she did it correctly. Mine was done crooked, with part of the wire on the top of the tooth surface and with composite bonded between teeth. She stinted 7 teeth instead of the expected 6. Three weeks later it popped off on that side. To her credit - when I pushed, she got me in the day of to fix it. But it took a couple tries to place the stint correctly.

I highly recommend Utah Valley Periodontics and Dr Bankhead! I had an implant and bone graft done and was very nervous about it prior to the procedure. It went so well and had no pain after. Dr. Bankhead is so professional and I really loved his office staff!

Dr. Bankhead and his staff were great at the beginning, but the first surgery didn't fix my problem so he did it again (we had to pay both times). I had some issues after the second surgery with bone fragments sticking out of my gum which was quite painful. They were helpful for a bit but eventually gave up on me and didn't want to help anymore. His assistant who basically runs the office was very friendly and a lot more helpful than the doctor himself. I know a couple other people that had to get their work done twice from him as well. I'd find someone else, there are other great Periodontist's around!

Utah Valley Periodontics sets a superior standard for all other dental practices that I have ever visited in my 60 years of life. They've got it wired! Office spaces: easy first-floor access, beautiful, bright, and open, with soft-serve frozen yoghurt. Office staff: kind, friendly, engaging, competent and knowledgeable. They always make me feel comfortable and really go the second mile. I can't say enough good things about LeeAnn, their office manager. Doctor Bankhead: same as his staff -- he listens, he has years of experience and he is clearly competent and knowledgeable. Results: I am a first-time patient. I came for a tooth implant. I was very happy with the result. 6-months later and I am still very happy with the results. Bottom Line: Utah Valley Periodontics is the Cadillac of American dental practices.
