Welcome to Upward Smiles, the leader in compassionate, non-profit comprehensive dental care for children and pregnant women. Upward Smiles began in 2012, with Sherry L. Cauley, RDH founding the organization to fulfill the dental needs of underserved children in St. Francois County on Medicaid. At that time, there were no providers in the area that accepted Medicaid. In 2014, we expanded to the Jefferson County area, with our office conveniently located off of Interstate-55 in Festus. Our Sedation Station was created, constructed, and became operational in 2018 toprovideDeep Sedationdentistry - under general anesthesia- to those children who are young, apprehensive, and have extensive restorative needs. Upward Smiles has continuously remained a necessity in the industry for underserved, underinsured patients. Our primary goal is to always serve the needs of our patients in any situation. Whether through our free mobilerestorative dentistry school-based programs, back-to-school fairs, in-office treatment, donations of toothbrushes & goodie bags, or educational presentations - we are proud to be the main dental care providerfor the majority of underserved children in the region.
Since we opened our doors, our team of dedicated, passionate dental professionals has improvedthe lives (and smiles!)of nearly 25,000 children, and we are always accepting new patients. We accept all forms of Missouri Medicaidand do not charge patients anything for our services.
*If your child is uninsured and experiencing dental pain or infection & you are unable to afford treatment at a private practice - contact our office. As able, we will provide any urgent treatment at no charge.

If you can take your kids somewhere else then please do! We had to stop going here because they only accept Medicaid which we no longer qualified for and they don't accept any other insurance which is fine. The problem is that they said my oldest child needed fillings and he absolutely does not. They were going to drill in his mouth to fill in what?? The new dentist we're taking our kids to did the X-rays and check up and he has zero cavities. Don't let them take advantage of you. They are a non for profit and get paid for doing dental work.

Do not for any reason take your children to this dentist office they will procrastinate and procrastinate doing feelings and routine stuff that they could do in one visit over the course of 10 visits to the point to where instead of just being able to fill the cavity they have to do an entire root canal because they won't listen and do the one that actually hurts and is the problem to start with so that they can get more money from the insurance companies for office visits the worst place I've ever dealt with they are unethical and just downright in human to make someone wait and pain over the course of 9 months before they actually touch the tooth that is bothering them that now has to be root canal instead of just being a filled cavity absolutely ridiculous

I have to share that I could tell my 14 yr old kiddo was uncomfortable several hours after his visit. The numbness had worn off and he asked for an ibuprofen. About that time a read aloud the notification asking for feedback. He quickly announced :They were Amazing! They couldn't have done a better job!" He gave credit were it was due and said they were kind, patient and he felt respected. Many thanks to the Upward Smiles Farmington team!

The staff is so wonderful with my daughter. They take into consideration her anxiety and Asperger's. Dr. Long is an amazing dentist who clearly cares for her patients.

The worst service today, I have been taking my children for years. They refused to send me paperwork for a person to assist me today and stated they needed me to sign the paperwork in front of them and ID after STILL having to miss work, they did not even ask for ID, I had to call them out on it. I told them they need to get their stuff together because they were extremely difficult and trying to cancel my children's appointment before I was able to find out if I can make it there in time for their actual appointments. So instead of making things easier or smooth going, they decided to make things it extremely difficult! Very unhappy with this place today.

My son needed a 6 month check up and I had recently switched his dentist to UpWard Smiles. I absolutely love how great all the staff is especially with my two year old! They were so great and patient with him. I am so happy I switched his dentist to UpWard Smiles. I highly recommend this dentist to anyone with young children!
