Uptown Dental - General dentist in Douglasville, GA

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am originally from the State of Washington. I graduated from Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry nearly a decade ago. During my matriculation, I was involved in research, various student organizations and extracurricular activities. I received numerous academic accolades and achievement scholarships.

After graduating from Meharry Medical College, I attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. There I completed a General Practice Residency Program. The program focused on hospital based dentistry involving the treatment of medically compromised patients. That education and experience prepared me to treat a diverse population with numerous health problems and special needs.

Upon completion of my residency, I was recruited by the Community Health Center in Meridian, MS. I began as a staff Dentist but finished my career there as the Dental Director. My primary goal during this time was to treat, as well as, educate patients on proper oral care and treatment options.

While in Meridian, I served as adjunct faculty with Meridian Community College and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I was instrumental in starting a Lutheran Center Residency Program at the Community Health Center.

I love both playing and watching sports. In my free time I also like to read a variety of authors, mostly mysteries and biographies. I have travelled extensively and look forward to the day where international travel is once again safe and stress free.

Here at Uptown Dental, you will be treated like family. I understand your dental phobias and I will attentively listen to your concerns and issues. I want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and informed.

So, yes I am grown, but I have REALLY bad anxiety when it comes to dental work, even just fillings. Dr. Williams and his team are so patient and amazing with patients like me. When he numbed me he was so gentle. I work in the health care field and my job is basically to verify providers are who they say they are, and stamp them as approved to safely treat patients which is what I do to all my personal providers as well. Dr. Williams is top notch in his field. I don't care if I move from this town I will always drive here to be seen by him.

Have been going here over 15 years now. Dr. Williams will take great care of you. Very busy, but they always work with you especially when you have any emergency. Schedule check ups while there up to 6 months out. Dr. Williams and his staff always show a smile and remember you. True quotes given with no late changes once insurance billed...even with braces.

This place is horrible! Terrible customer service. Lady at the front was very rude. They try to up charge you. I asked for my insurance to be ran and processed for the correct amount. They said they did it and my fees were correct. Next thing I knew, they were asking me for another $900.00. I will be fighting this. This office is so unorganized. Always something shady going on. Trust me, you don't want to go there!!!!!!

Dr. Williams and his staff are the best ... and I HATE going to the dentist. If you're looking for a dentist who is a good listener and excellent at his profession, look no further.

This was one of the best offices I've been to. especially being new to the area, Allie, one of the front desk ladies was extremely helpful, patient, as well as educated about the company. So I will most definitely tell everyone this dentist office is the one to go to! Speak to Allie at the front desk if you want a visit as wonderful as every single one of mine has been

Let me start off by saying that I visited this office in December 2020 when I was pregnant. I needed a deep cleaning, but it has to be preauthorized by insurance first. Fine. After two months of hearing nothing back I decide to call. I find out my cleaning was approved, just no one took the time out to call me. Strike one. So here we are...Today's visit, HORRIBLE! I lost my debit card before my appt. Life happens. My cleaning was already covered by insurance, I needed to pay for the chlorhexadine mouthwash($80). I gave a courteous call to let them know what was going on (as I'm outside waiting)and that I had $20 on my person at the time and that I could call after my appt and make the rest of my payment or come back in person. The "office manager" assured me that there was no way possible for that to happen. I was told They don't do payments which is false. She then proceeds to tell me that it's "not her fault" that I lost my card. After going back and forth for some time. I was placed on a pretty long hold. She was extremely rude to me. She gets back on the phone to tell me that they actually CAN take the $20 and see me. I go inside and no one greeted me. Not even a smile or good morning. Pam (older white woman) I'm assuming that's who I spoke to stares at me with attitude the entire time I'm checking in. After my cleaning I go back up front, I wasn't asked to schedule my fillings or how my visit was and was still getting the same treatment. I knew at that moment today would be my last day at Uptown Dental. I came from Marietta to visit you guys after being referred. Looking at past reviews, I see I'm not the first to say something about professionalism. No patients=no paychecks. Every patient should be treated the same no matter age, color, insurance carrier, rich or poor. Working in the dental field myself, I know first hand that this office can do a lot better in handling patients. I would hate for someone who's already scared or nervous of the dentist to get the treatment I received today.

Dr. Williams epitomizes professionalism in dental care. Uptown has been our family's dentist for almost 10 years and were never disappointed in the oral care Dr. Williams and his staff provides. The entire staff is very kind and helpful. My son had his first dental appointment in 3 years today and he came out smiling from ear to ear! He truly likes to see someone that looks like him providing such amazing care. If you choose Uptown for your family's oral care, you won't be disappointed. We Uptown Dental!

I love Dr williams and his team. From Don to Mrs Pam they are like family! Every time I come it always a warm welcome! Dr. Williams explain what he is doing and why his is doing and what you can expect as the ending result to be! You can honestly tell that he really has a passion for this and it shows in his team and work! One thing I can say even if a mistake has been made Dr.Williams and his uptown all stars go the distance to make it right even if that patient is just not appeased, from what I have seen he don't give up easy! This is why I remain a patient!

After just seven visits to put a single crown on I am somewhat displeased with the services provided. Front Office (Pam) - Called & emailed Uptown Dental (no answer) and left a message to inquire usage of my x-ray photos and inform them that I would be shopping around at other locations. They did not return my call or email. Dental Assistants - 1. Don - First visit: His decision to noticeably hide some of his words and actions intrigued me but I did not address it. My next visit with him was more quiet than the first as I just wanted to get through the visit as fast as possible. Toward the end of my second visit he was flossing my temporary crown (to ensure correctness) and proceeded to floss across both rows of my lower back teeth at the same time. I made a remark exclaiming my surprise at the efficiency of that process and if that is something all DAs do. He did not answer but continued to floss in that manner and jammed floss into my gums on both sides of my mouth. Contradicting his earlier flossing of my teeth and how he previously flossed the "standard" way. Not a safe environment. 2. T(Taneka?/Tanesha?) - Only one visit. She, at one point, asked if I would like the television on. I thought that was a nice gesture of her and said that I would. She made no effort to follow through with my request and kept working. After a lengthy period of time I reminded her of her television request and my answer. She then decided to get someone else to turn it on(guess that's not on her paygrade?). After the TV was turned on, I noticed how distracted T was with the TV program. Many times I noticed her stare at the screen with medical tools STILL IN MY MOUTH, and at one point the drill was being used in my mouth while she was gazing at the TV. To test my theory of her not paying attention, as she was going to put her hands in my mouth to work, I closed my mouth and she almost picked my nose. Not a safe environment. 3. Jessica - Three visits. Seemed nice and honest and actually informed me of the errors of why the permanent crown would not fit and why another needed to be made. Maybe the best DA out of the three, but I noticed a few slights to my character from her regarding incidents with my previous two DA. A little unprofessional but I needed to get the crown on as I have already paid in full on my second visit. The last and final visit was fine and seemed ordinary. Staying silent and only answering questions regarding her work I only wanted to hurry and get through the visit. Again, she made another slight to my character and I replied to question if there was a way to better adjust my head rest(every visit it was in its lowest position). With ease, she moved the headrest from the lowest position(also tilted way back) to a position better suited to my size and comfort. She then proceeded to (sarcastically) ask if I need a pillow. While I fully understood her sarcastic remark, I was shocked at how a dentist's office have pillows for their clients. Of course I said yes and with a pillow and the x-ray vest (she irresponsibly left on me from earlier) I ended my interaction that day comfortably. All in all, Dr. Williams was very fair and cordial to me during every one of our interactions. Gave me the "presidential shake" earlier in our meets due to the pandemic, and a formal hand shake later in our visits. Much respect for this doctor and his kindness and he deserves more loyal employees. The front desk did come back from our hiccup and (while clearly disturbed with my presence) later treated me like a normal patient and respected most of my requests. Just don't leave a message for them as they wont return a call or email unless its to call you and inform you of upcoming appointment. Don, T, and Jessica (the dental assistants) on the other hand, may need to brush up on their medical practice and customer service. I could have used a "back alley" dentist and would have received the same quality of work(in less visits).
