Dr. Upton has many years of experience in private dental practice and in particular this practice where he has been since 1984. He continues to pursue treatment options that put an emphasis on aesthetics and longevity. Dr. Upton's philosophy is that individualized planning of treatment gives consideration to what is best, most needed and promotes long-term oral health. His treatment recommendations are conservative mainly to promote good maintenance of his patients' natural dentition.
Dr. Upton graduated from the School of Dentistry at UNC Chapel Hill after completing his bachelor's degree at UNC. Following dental school, he has continued to seek education opportunities in dental aesthetics and periodontal disease-related treatments. Conservative management of dental problems resulting in improved overall dental health for his patients keeps motivating him in a profession he has been passionate about since high school. Dr. Upton feels fortunate to be able to help patients move from compromised dental conditions to stable, healthy, beautiful smiles.
A life-long North Carolinian, Dr. Upton grew up in Randolph County but has called Wake County and Wake Forest home since 1977. He and his wife Mitzi have two children, Sam and Martha. His interests outside of dentistry include golf, classic cars, and being outdoors. When possible, he and his family like to travel, his favorite destination being the Caribbean Islands.
Dr. Baker grew up in North Raleigh and earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before going on to complete his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the UNC School of Dentistry. He practiced for several years in Chapel Hill before returning home to the Wake Forest area where he joined Dr. Upton in 2019.
His interests include traveling, snowboarding, reading, and watching all kinds of sports, especially when the Tar Heels are playing. He lives in north Raleigh with his wife, Anne, who is also a dentist.
Dr. Baker is committed to providing his patients with the highest possible level of dental care and is a member of both the American Dental Association and North Carolina Dental Society. He has a passion for service and has spent years volunteering at free clinics around the state as well as on international dental mission trips to Honduras, Peru, and Nepal.

I had a great experience today at Upton and Baker DDS. It was my first visit with Dr. Baker after not seeing a dentist in several years. The front desk staff, Victoria, and Dr. Baker were very friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. I'm super happy to have found a great dental practice in Wake Forest!

Great staff! Great doctor! I have anxiety going to the dentist and haven't went in years and cried with relief after my visit they were so wonderful and calming! I had a tooth extracted, they explained everything and were patient and kind! I highly recommend!

I do not enjoy the dentist! In fact over the past 15 years I have felt like dentistry has become a big business, all about the $$, they're on every corner, right? Well that all changed for me with an appointment at Dr Baker and Dr Uptons in Wake Forest! The staff is up front and friendly, the hygienists are detail oriented and all about the education, and the dentists, no pressure, no high pressure sales pitch. Most importantly, they cared that I was comfortable and relaxed, which isn't always easy in the dentist chair! Do yourself and your family a favor, make this team the team that cares for your family!

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The hygienists will often give you advice on how to best care for your teeth. Dr. Upton is extremely thorough with his exams and excellent with fixing teeth should you have a cavity. Great place. I have been going here for over 24 years.

Bonnie gives a great cleaning! She's very friendly and attentive to my concerns. She always has good tips for maintaining/improving dental health. I love that she personalizes my "goody" bag. Drs. Baker and Upton are also friendly, attentive, and thorough in their exams. I really appreciate their honest dental work recommendations given without pressure. I've been slowly getting restorative work done on my old teeth. I get very anxious about dental work but they make it as pleasant as possible.

My family has been going to this office for over 35 years. We have always been completely satisfied. Great care, always respected, and we always get clear details on what is being watched or may be an issue in the future. They keep great records so they know when there has been significant change over a 6 month period. We are very grateful to have this practice in Wake Forest, NC.
