Dr. Steve Davis began his pursuit of education at Bay College then transferred to Northern Michigan University to complete a Bachelor of Science. He was then selected to be the first graduate student of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center, a partnership between NMU and Marquette General Hospital. Following his first Master program, he was admitted to the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry, graduating in 2012. Upon graduation, Dr. Davis received the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student award, American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Award, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Award, and the Ryan E. Turner Memorial Award as voted upon by the graduating dental class.
Following dental school, Dr. Davis chose to attend residency at U of M in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. Periodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that involves the supporting tissues which include soft (gum), hard (bone), and teeth. In addition to treating periodontal disease, Dr. Davis is trained in the placement of dental implants, soft tissue grafting, bone regeneration, occlusion, and oral pathology.
During residency, he was selected for the Graduate Periodontics Teaching Fellowship and the Benson Duff Endowed Scholarship for Excellence, both in 2014. Following completion of his certificate in periodontics and second Master of Science, Dr. Davis successfully attained board certification in periodontics from the State of Michigan, and the national board, achieving Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology in periodontics and dental implant surgery.

I had asked my dentist for a referral to a Periodontist because I recently learned about crown lengthening and aesthetic gum treatments. I've always been self-conscious about my "gummy" smile (smile shows more gums than teeth). I remember when I got my braces off when I was 16 - I was so glad that my teeth were straight, but there just wasn't enough tooth showing! So, the braces removal was a little disappointing. It wasn't until a year ago that I learned that there are options to help this. Dr Davis and his staff are so great. I felt very comfortable expressing my hopes and hesitations for having a procedure like this done during the pre-op appointment, even down to expressing smaller details such as the shape and symmetry that I was hoping for. The day of the procedure I was pretty nervous, but it was so helpful that Dr Davis stopped during the procedure frequently to check how I was doing and also to make sure we were on the same page with how things were looking as he was working. My gumline was sensitive for a few days, but I was back to eating all normal foods within a week. The biggest takeaway from this all is that it is so refreshing to smile my ACTUAL, big smile now and not hold back. It means so much to me! Thanks to Dr. Davis and staff for boosting my confidence. 5/5 stars. Would absolutely recommend Upper Peninsula Periodontics to anyone hoping for a more beautiful smile.

I strongly recommend Dr. Davis for any periodontal work you might need. The staff here made me feel so comfortable and they were so accommodating that I couldn't think of a better place to trust. Julie at the front desk is absolutely wonderful and the surgery assistant Kelsey was incredible. Kelsey made me feel so comfortable during surgery and was always diligent in making sure that I stayed that way. Dr Davis took his time explaining everything about the procedure and answered any questions I could think of. This place is a win win for me and I will definitely be back to see Dr. Davis and his staff.

When you walk into their office you are greeted with a welcoming smile and a clean comfortable waiting area with beautiful pictures of our area on the walls. I have been seeing Dr. Davis for a few years now and his hygienists have always been fantastic. Dr. Davis always takes the time to check things out and make sure all of your questions are answered. Every time I leave I feel well taken care of.

I have been going to UP Periodontics and Dr. Davis ever since he started his practice in Marquette, and the care I've received has been nothing short of excellent. His office manager Julie has been very accommodating when I have had to reschedule an appointment, and always greets patients with a smile and a cheery disposition. I have very sensitive gums and am on blood thinners, and Sara (his hygienist) has been very considerate of this condition. She is very gentle, thorough, and I have never felt that she rushed through a cleaning. Dr. Davis is outstanding. He is very knowledgeable of all the latest perio procedures, friendly, and always treats me as a person as well as a patient. I highly recommend Dr. Davis and Upper Peninsula Periodontics.

Love the new office, and all the remodeling that Dr. Davis has done. Completely remodeled office and operatories, on-site parking, handicap-accessibility, and the convenient North 3rd Street corner location. (Sure don't miss the parking issues, steep hill, and "the elevator" of the old office.). Dr. Davis and his staff have always answered any questions I might have regarding the work I was having done that day, and have made me feel like I'm in good hands. From Julie at the front desk to hygiene cleanings from Sara, I've always been treated professionally and with respect. Highly recommend Dr. Davis and Upper Peninsula Periodontics.
