The mission of Unkenholz Family Dental in Rapid City, SD is to serve, create, and establish trusting relationships, diminish pain, provide preventative and proactive treatment to prevent bigger problems, to be there when you need us, and to do all of this with a smile and the genuine kindness, you, our patients deserve.

Dr. Eric grew up in Pierre, SD. He attended South Dakota State University where he earned BS and MS degrees in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry in May of 2008 and began his first job as a dentist in Rapid City the following month. After working in a group practice, Dr. Eric started Unkenholz Family Dental in 2014. Having a passion for people, Dr. Eric has enjoyed the opportunity to build a dental practice focusing on patients individual needs while creating a fun and caring environment.

Dr. Crutcher is originally from Indiana. Hes lived in the Rapid City area for 19 years. He has 35 years of experience in the dental field. He is a retired Captain from the Indian Health Service/US Public Health Service with 25 years of service. He most recently worked at the Community Health Center of the Black Hills. Dr. Crutcher is a proud grandpa of a precious 10 year old girl-Clara! Dr. Crutchers kindness and caring style as well as his passion for dentistry fit perfectly into our family/team. We are so lucky to have him join Unkenholz Family Dental. Welcome Dr. Crutcher!

Trish grew up in Spearfish, SD but has lived in Rapid City since 1994. She has worked in both the orthodontic and general dental fields for 20+ years. Trish takes pride understanding insurance and enjoys helping patients maximize coverage when completing their dental treatment. Im amazed everyday at the details Trish keeps track of. Outside the office, Trish enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children taking in all the activities the Black Hills has to offer.

Carol was a dental assistant for 16 Years in Flandreau, SD prior to her move to the Black Hills in 2015. Carol joined UFD as an assistant but has transitioned masterfully to meet the demands of the front office. We are glad to have her smile greet you as you walk through our front door. Carol is also an EMT and enjoys fishing, hunting, reading, boating, and spending time with her family. She is always quick to talk about and show you pictures of her 1st and only grandchild. If there is a baby in the office, Carol is usually holding it.

Lynette came to Rapid City for college and never left. She began in nursing and switched to dental assisting but loved the insurance side of things so ended working at the front desk. Thirty four years later, Lynette is still in the dental field. She loves getting to know patients as they become a part of her family. She enjoys making a new friend everyday and hopes to make each person comfortable being at the dentist.

Lynette has been married to her husband, Troy for 34 years. They have a daughter, Dani and son in law Tobi who live in OR and a daughter, Jenna who lives in NV. In Lynettes spare time shescrapbooks and spends time with friends. On days off, they love to go on the roadand visit their kids and family all over the US.

Carly joined UFD in March 2019! Upon graduating from the University of Wyoming School of Hygiene in 2017, with a degree in dental hygiene, Carly quickly moved back to her hometown of Rapid City. She loves helping people improve their oral health, making individuals of all ages feel comfortable in the dental office, and forming trusting relationships with her patients.

Uniquely, Carly has a passion for drag racing, and has raced competitively since the age of 9. She shares this passion with her husband Joe, who she married in June 2019! They are enjoying their lives together with their dog Bella, who Carly calls their baby.

Margo grew up in Enderlin, ND, and graduated from the North Dakota State College of Science in 2001 with a degree in dental hygiene. After graduation she relocated to Rapid City where she has been practicing dental hygiene for 20+ years. Margo is an avid hiker and concert enthusiast. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and all the outdoor activities that the Black Hills and world has to offer. We are so glad to have her in the UFD family.

Holly is from Mullen, NE, but has lived in Rapid City for over 30 years. Sweet Holly has spent 10 years in the orthodontic field and 25+ years in general dentistry. Holly has a passion for people and shows up to work with a smile on her face every day! Holly enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children. Her favorite activities are kayaking and camping.

Graduated from Western Dakota Tech as a dental assistant. After 7 years of dental assisting Kaity started taking more classes from SDSU and Black Hills State with the goal of becoming a dental hygienist. Her hard work and dedication are admirable as she balances school, work and life with her husband Adam and their 2 kids, Paityn and Raien. When she has spare time, Kaity enjoys movies, baking, and hiking with her family.

Steph was born in Texas but considers herself a Rapid City native! She received her Dental Assistant degree at Western Dakota Tech in 2011. She started working for Dr. Rempel prior to graduation and has worked with him ever since. She loves her dental family as well as her family and dog Gunner. In her spare time, Steph loves to read, cook/bake, hike, camp and anything outdoors. Steph is a natural caregiver taking care of her parents and patients alike!

Jami was born in Minneapolis, MN but graduated high school from Edgemont, SD in 1985. Jami has an amazing life story, spending most of it in Rapid City, in the dental field. She has a huge extended family and spends most of her free time with her son Will and 3 grandchildren. Spend an hour with Jami and you will feel like family! She loves the dental field and helping patients obtain optimal dental health. She is often heard reminding patients to floss!

Emily grew up in Crawford, NE. While working at her familys restaurant, she learned about customer service and work ethic at a young age. Emily attended college in Greeley Colorado for radiology and then graduated from the dental assisting program at Western Dakota Tech in 2007. Shes been working in the dental field ever since. She loves hiking, fishing and camping with her husband and two boys.Emily thoroughly enjoys getting to know patients and making them feel comfortable.

Dr. Eric and his wife Tasha love the Black Hills and have enjoyed raising their children Jack, Elise, and Collin in a place that is truly home. We lost Jack at age 8, in 2009, to H1N1. He was born with a rare genetic disorder and we feel honored and privileged to have been his Mom and Dad for almost nine years. Elise is 17 and Collin is 14. Both run cross country and love to downhill ski.

Tasha grew up in Hutchinson, MN. Unlike her husband, she considers herself an introvert; however, when she arrives at the office, her favorite part of the day is chatting with patients. She has her BA in Psychology and an MS in Counseling. Her number one job is being a mom to their kids.
