It is a bit of an inside joke from the dental world. Chamfer is the name of a dental instrument that is used to design and prepare teeth for crowns! The rounded finish line allows for a smooth transition from natural tooth to gold or ceramic and is what helps protect our teeth from bacteria and decay. Chamfer is at the office regularly to help our patients with dental anxiety. Hes a great addition!

With the treatment planning completed, the day of implant placement goes smoothly. Sometimes the problem tooth needs to be carefully removed prior to implant placement, other times the implants go right in the space missing a tooth. Once the implant has been placed, the body needs 90 days to heal and create a strong connection to the bone to manage the stress of chewing. If the missing tooth is in the smile zone, we will have a custom artificial tooth waiting for you to wear home that day.
Three months after placement, we verify the implant integration (bone health) and begin fabrication of the final prosthesis, or dental implant crown. If the implant or implants are replacing one or more teeth, it will be a custom crown or bridge. When an existing denture or partial denture needs stabilization, a fitting process begins.
With new digital scanning equipment and software, we make high resolution 3D scans to inform the lab of the orientation of the implant in the mouth. Digital scanning is a gag free, quick, and accurate process. We have our local lab, D&S, fabricate customized components specific for each patient.
When the implant crown or denture is delivered, we check for a precise fit. At future exams and cleanings, we verify function, health of the supporting tissue, and ensure that everything is being maintained to ensure a long lasting dental restoration.
