The University of Minnesota Comprehensive Care Dental Clinics feature dental students with undergraduate degrees who will examine you under the supervision of a faculty member, who will closely supervise your treatment. After the exam, you will be assigned with a dental student within a comprehensive care group for further treatment, which will also be under the supervision of a faculty member. Should you need more extensive or complicated work done, you may be referred to the specialty clinics, where dental school graduates train in a particular aspect of dentistry under the supervision of an advanced-trained faculty member.

Our teamsare dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes and care for children and adults affected by cleft and craniofacial anomalies. Our teams are certified by the ACPA and include surgeons, physicians, dentists, nurses, speech therapists, audiologists, psychologists and researchers who are leaders in the care of children and adults. We use state-of-the art imaging and treatment techniques to achieve the best possible comprehensive care. The University of Minnesota has been an international leader in interdisciplinary care for these conditions for the past 50 years. For more infomation and resources related to cleft and craniofacial team care, visit the ACPA.

Measuring outcomes is a critical part of ensuring success for our patients. We participate in the Americleft Project, a multi-centered collaboration supported by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and Cleft Palate Foundation. In addition, team members have active research in their specialty areas.

I do not recommend this place. Very disrespectful. Dr. JJ Don't understand the parents concern only here to make a quick buck out of your child! My son is very traumatized from the visit. She lies to you and when you disagree she gets a attitude towards you. Run from this place! For your sake and your child! Look into holistic dentist for children.

I give them high credit for their treatment of two of my children however, I called to schedule my three year old in which she has a referral and is need of dental care but was told she can not be seen as they only see special needs children. No where does it say this on the website and my other two children were able to be seen with just a referral from their dentist to be seen by a pediatric dentist which is the name of the clinic PEDIATRIC dental clinic not special needs pediatric dental. With this in mind, I may take my other two children elsewhere as they will not take my three year old.

The staff was both patient and creative while helping my 6 year old through her anxiety. The doctor and his assistant listened carefully to everything my child said she was afraid of, and then came up with another option that achieved his goals while also making her feel more safe. My daughter is sensitive, stubborn, and intelligent - which added together is a sure recipe for strong anxiety in certain circumstances. The doctor seemed to discern all this after just minutes with her due to his attentiveness. He spoke to her the way she needed him to the entire time, and was very patient and understanding even though it must've been frustrating. He was also extremely thorough in explaining treatment options when speaking with me. The other staff members all teamed up to try different ways to help my daughter, and were patient and thoughtful - especially one woman in particular whom my daughter continues to speak fondly of. I highly recommend UofM Pediatric Dentistry to all families.

I tried to call and set appointments for both my boys. I had to call twice and spoke to two different ladies. The first lady hung up on me. The second one right away told me she already spoke to the the first lady and that they do not accept new patients. I told the two ladies that they are both referrals with special needs and that someone there had called to set an appointment, but one of my boys went into seizure so we couldn't set it up before. Still, the second lady responded that they needed a physical referral and that one of their person needed to call me to set a consultation. So I said ok, what kind of physical referral is that because one person from there had before called to set this appointment and it didn't happen? I'm so confused.

We've been coming to this clinic since my daughter was 1. She's 9 now. And they have always veen fantastic with her; from being a very anxious baby, toddler, to young kid. To a confident girl who enjoys the dentist.

Dr.Kahn was amazing! He took the time to explain everything he was doing and demonstrated the utmost patience when dealing with a very nervous and anxious child. He was patient, gentle, very skilled, knowledgeable and wonderful with my child! I would highly recommend him to anyone especially anyone who has a child that needs an extra gentle hand and a very patient demeanor! Thanks UMP!

Pros: Clean space. Brand new equipments for the children including tvs. Nice front desk staff. Cons: Inconvenient to get to because of paid parking. Can't schedule immediate with them for your little kids, you have to be referred to them. It is a place for dentist in training and so the experienced Dr will only be around here and there. You won't have the same dentist if your child's check up and teeth work gets split up into two different visits...which this can cause changes in work plans . It was frustrating for me to bring my child there for a cavity, only to be told I have to schedule another appointment for her to get crowns on her cavity. Next time we went in, the different dentist suggested another method for my daughter. Fortunately, the experienced veteran doctor came by and when she asked him to come look at my daughter's cavity, he said that all she needs is just a white filling for the cavity.

My daughter had to get some work done here. The staff and dentist were very friendly. They really know how to deal the children. Appointments are hard to get due to long waits and the clinic being too popular. The downside is you have to pay for parking.

This place really needs to get it together. From the very first phone call, they told me one thing, then I get there and it's another thing that contradicts the first thing. Then my son was referred to oral surgery and we've been waiting for 2 weeks while my son is in MAJOR pain daily and every time I called someone told me something different plus I never received any return calls from my voicemails. I finally talked to someone and they told me that they never referred my son to the oral surgeon because of something they never told me to do. In the mean time, my nonverbal autistic son has been having major, extreme daily meltdowns and our lives have been a nightmare because of his tooth pain. My son can't talk so he expresses his pain by cry, scream, fight, hurt himself, etc. This is the first and last time I will ever use this dental clinic and I would NOT recommend to anyone, especially if they have special needs.

Service of dentist and hygienist is great. However, font desk was not very welcoming. Parking very expensive $6/30min apparently reduced pricing:)

I just took my 40 month old daughter to this place, for a six month checkup after she chipped one of her baby teeth 8 months ago. They were excellent then. They proved to be excellent this time. With showing children their tools and explaining it and getting any 3 1/2 year old to sit for such things. I was thoroughly impressed. I saw a wide mix of families and cultures which means they are culturally sensitive, not that is surprising. This is the U of M we are talking about. Pediatric dentistry at its very finest. We will return.
