Dr. Maurice Haynes is originally from Kingston, Jamaica. He came to the United States in August of 1987 to attend Dental School at Howard University in Washington, DC. He graduated from Howard in May of 1991 and completed his General Practice Residency from D.C. General Hospital in May of 1992. He immediately entered into private practice and has now been practicing dentistry for over 23 years.
In 2000, Dr. Haynes and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Haynes, created University Centre Dental Associates, P.C. They were originally in College Park, MD. In the years since its inception, Dr. Haynes saw the practice grow, and in July of 2006 the practice moved to Greenbelt, MD, where they could provide a larger treatment facility with advanced technology and equipment for patient care.
Dr. Maurice Haynes is committed to continuing education to keep up with the ever-changing dental technologies and advancements. He has completed over 180 hours of seminars and workshops. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association. Dr. Haynes is dedicated to providing his patients with the very highest quality of dental care, in a caring and friendly environment.
Dr. Elizabeth Haynes is an orthodontist and co-founder of University Centre Dental Associates in Greenbelt, Maryland. She graduated from Howard Universitys Orthodontic Residency Program at the top of her class in 1993 and immediately entered into private practice. In 1996, she joined the faculty of Howard Universitys College of Dentistry and became the Orthodontic Clinic Director. Also during that time she and her husband, Dr. Maurice Haynes, created University Centre Dental Associates, and she maintained the practice on a part-time basis. She left teaching in July 2006 to focus on her practice full time.
Dr. Haynes is dedicated to helping her patients attain the smiles theyve always wanted, in a caring, clean, and friendly environment. When not working with her patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Maurice Haynes, and their children.
Ariana is our wonderful sterilization technician. Ariana joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in June of 2009. She is originally from Prince Georges County, Maryland. She assists us in keeping our treatment areas clean and in compliance with sterilization guidelines for the comfort and safety of our patients.
Claudia is our practices Chief Orthodontic Assistant. She is originally from Mexico City, Mexico. She has been with the University Centre Dental Associates family since May of 2006. She can converse with our patients in both English and Spanish. Prior to becoming an Orthodontic Assistant, she was a licensed Dentist in Mexico. Claudia has over 18 years of experience in the Dental Field.
Claudia has completed advanced training in Expanded Functions for Dental Assisting and Orthodontic Assisting. She is dedicated to helping our orthodontic patients attain a healthy and beautiful smile. She is instrumental in showing patients how to clean and take care of their appliances, and she manages the orthodontic records for the practice.
DeSean is our practices Chief Dental Assistant. He is originally from Prince Georges County, Maryland. DeSean joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in May of 2010. He has over seven years of experience in the Dental Field.
DeSean has completed advanced training in Expanded Functions for Dental Assisting. He has taken numerous workshops and seminars in CEREC technology, periodontal charting and advanced dental assisting techniques.
When not working with his patients, DeSean enjoys spending time listening to music and reading. He is a huge sports fan who eats, sleeps, and drinks anything to do with the Washington Redskins and all the other home teams in the area.
India is our practices Dental Hygienist. She is originally from Lansing, Michigan. Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist, she was a Certified Orthodontic Assistant, and she worked with Dr. Elizabeth Haynes for six years in that capacity. India has over 21 years of experience in the dental profession.
India graduated from Howard Universitys Dental Hygiene Program in 2004 and immediately entered into private practice. In August of 2004, she joined University Centre Dental Associates part time, and in 2012, she joined us full time.
India actively participates in continuing education because she is dedicated to maintaining the highest standard of oral hygiene care and is interested in learning the latest techniques and technologies to deliver that care. She is also the practices HIPPA officer.
India is dedicated to helping her patients attain and maintain the healthiest smile possible. When not working with her patients, India enjoys white water rafting, camping, and spending time with her son Sean.
Jamaira is our General Dentistry Patient Coordinator and Personnel Manager. She joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in April of 2011. She is originally from Honduras. She can converse with our patients in both English and Spanish. Jamaira has over 11 years of experience in the Dental Field. She has completed seminars in dental scheduling and billing techniques, and she is certified in insurance billing.
Jamairas aim is to help our patients attain the beautiful and healthy smile they have always wanted, by assisting them with their insurance or payment-plan needs. She works with Dr. Maurice Haynes on the general dentistry side of our practice.
Jodi-Ann is one of four of our qualified Orthodontic Assistants. Jodi-Ann joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in February of 2008. She is originally from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She has over 12 years of experience in the Dental Field.
She has completed advanced training in Expanded Functions for Dental Assisting and Orthodontic Assisting. She has taken many seminars and technique workshops in advanced orthodontic assisting techniques to keep her skills up-to-date.
Jodi-Ann cares about all of her patients and is dedicated to helping them get the smile theyve always wanted in a friendly and fun way. She works with Dr. Elizabeth Haynes on the orthodontics side of our practice.
Norma is one of four of our qualified Orthodontic Assistants. She joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in July of 2011. She is originally from El Salvador. She can converse with our patients in both English and Spanish, and she has over 15 years of experience in the Dental Field.
Norma has completed advanced training in Expanded Functions for Dental Assisting and Orthodontic Assisting. She attends seminars in advanced orthodontic assisting techniques yearly at the national Orthodontic Association meetings.
Tammy is one of four of our qualified Orthodontic Assistants. Tammy joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in May of 2006. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She has over 15 years of experience in the Dental Field.
Tammy is dedicated to helping our patients attain a healthy and beautiful smile, in a relaxed and friendly manner. She is also in charge of ordering and is our OSHA officer. She works with Dr. Elizabeth Haynes on the orthodontics side of our practice.
Yesley is our Orthodontic Patient Coordinator. She joined the University Centre Dental Associates family in January of 2011. She is originally from San Miguel, El Salvador. She can converse with our patients in both English and Spanish. Yesley has over 5 years of experience in the Dental/Medical Billing Field.

Giving one star. I would give 0, if possible. My retainers were cracked by a family member...I got my braces in Jersey and to avoid the unnecessary costs of going up there for a few days, I figured I would use my sister's orthodontist. I called as a new patient on February 1 and requested an appointment. When I asked for an appointment card or confirmation email, the request was declined citing they don't do this for new patients (first time I've ever been told this from a doctor's office). Okay, fine. Their earliest opening was in late August/early September so I ask the secretary to reserve the time. My phone messed up on a trip so my calendar was caput. I called to check the date/time and I was told I must have missed my appointment because they had nothing on file...absolutely did not. I wouldn't wait several months just to have my teeth revert back to how they were only to miss an appointment that has been #1 on my to-do list since last year. I have been calling for DAYS, mind you, and left two voicemails with my information but no one got back to me. This is extremely frustrating. Incredibly inconvenient. TERRIBLE wait times for new patients...if you're looking for a new orthodontist, it might be best to find somewhere else with better customer service.

I was there in Apr 2021 for a cleaning; apparently I had a cavity but they asked me to come back in 6-months for my next cleaning and they would fill the cavity at that time. Say what?! WHY WAIT 6-MONTHS if I have a cavity now! My new dentist was FURIOUS when I told her this. Plus, I just rec'd a bill in the mail from them for $100, but I haven't been there for 9-months now! I called and they said I missed some appointments last Fall. Hello? Pick up the phone and call me! I didn't get any txt msgs, I didn't get any emails...I just rec'd the $100.10 bill in the mail! They only got the 1-star from me because I called to complain and the Billing Dept said she'd cut the amount in half. But I didn't get any money from THEM when I showed up for my appointment a couple of years ago and the office was closed for 'cpr class'. I showed them the appt card and all...but nope, I didn't get anything for my inconvenience!

I have been going to Dr. M. Haynes, DDS since I was a teenager for cleanings and other dental procedures, and we later discovered that I needed braces, and I've been going to Dr. E. Haynes, DDS, for the last few years for orthodontic treatment. Overall it's been a great experience with the both doctors and all their staff; especially my amazing hygienist India.

STAY AWAY! The staff here is extremely rude and unprofessional. I've been a customer here for the past three years and I WILL NOT be returning. Last week I went to the office for a copy of my daughters bill for her braces. The receptionist (a mid-aged African American women) was reluctant to print out the bill and complained that it was "a lot of paper" to print (5 pages total). After she finally printed the paper, she got in my face and told me that next time she wouldn't print it and that I need to get whatever I need after my appointments. I planned on taking my other 2 daughters here for their braces but needless to say I will not.

He got irritated with me because I kept asking questions. I will never go back up there it was a waste of time they are not responsive I had sent different emails and no one responded. I did not feel welcome nor comfortable I was already in pain and scared at the same time. His assistant tall black African-American female late 30s to early 40s was very disrespectfulI was telling her how I felt at that moment she never responded to me nor acknowledge me Even when I was saying thank you on my way out the door She Ignored me. So if you would like to save money and time DO NOT COME HERE.......

Everyone Hates going to the Dentist.......However when you find one that takes pride in there work and there ability to give you britest outlook/Smile you could possibly have......That is fanominal!!!!! The Hanyes are great at what they do very persnably and resonable and always deliver the work with a smile very open and great atmosphere i have been coming here for the past 4 years and would not change one thing...... I absoluetly love this place!!!!!

I have been going to University Centre Dental seeing both Dr. Maurice Haynes and Dr. Elizabeth Haynes for the past year. This is my first time writing any type of review ever, but I just had to share my amazing experience with Centre Dental. Prior to finding them, I struggled with finding a consistent reliable knowledgeable place to serve all of my dental needs. From the first phone call, to the first consultation, to the first cleaning, and orthodontic procedures... I have been treated like family. It is impossible to be a patient here and not become close with the staff. Everyone is warm, loving, supportive, and friendly. The fact they were able to find such an amazing team at all levels/positions is pretty astounding to me. Not only has my dental health improved greatly (it was really bad before) but they worked with me financially to make sure I was able to get all the care I needed. They practically saved my teeth with their care, education, and skills. I am so happy and feel like I got a gift by finding them! Anyone looking for a place that works with your schedule and financial needs, and are thoughtful, extremely knowledgeable and dental care with great customer service should go here. I would give them a hundred stars if possible!
