Dr. Marissa Rubio-Ellis has been practicing dentistry in the Phoenix area for over 20 years. Before graduating from Creighton University with a BA in English and a BS Biology, she fell in love with her future husband, John and decided to stay at Creighton for dental school. After graduating with her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1998, she and John packed up and moved to his hometown of Phoenix and set down their roots closer to family. Besides being a current member of the American Dental Association, the Central Arizona Dental Association and the International Association for Orthodontics, Dr. Ellis works hard at staying up to date on the latest and greatest dental techniques. She has even been known to take her team to Disneylandrather the California Dental Association meetings in Anaheim, to stay current. In her spare time, Dr. Ellis is a certified Jazzercise instructor, a Disney fanatic, a SCUBA diver and an avid Arizona Diamondbacks fan. However, at the end of the day, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband and their two children, Belize and Reef.
We would like to welcome Dr. Farzin to our practice as one of our new associate dentist. Dr. Farzin is very passionate about patient education and making sure patients have all the resources and tools available for their oral care needs.
Dr. Manoush Farzin graduated from Midwestern University Dental School in Downers Grove, Illinois. Additionally, she completed a General Practice Residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Farzin received a B.S. in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology and an M.S. in Biology from Arizona State University.
Dr. Farzin is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, especially patient education, preventative care and esthetic dentistry. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, working on art projects, trying new foods, hiking, traveling and scuba diving.
Dr. Amanda Rael is originally from New Mexico, where she attended the University of New Mexico and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree. She then received her Doctor of Dental Medicine from A. T. Still University Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health along with her Certificate in Public Health- Dental Emphasis. Upon completion of dental school, Dr. Rael chose to pursue a one year residency in advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) at the University of New Mexico Hospital back home in Albuquerque. While in residency, Dr. Rael was exposed to many aspects of dentistry, including management of medically complex patients, as well as surgery and hospital based dentistry.
When Dr. Rael is not at the office, she loves to spend time with her wonderful husband and their two young children. She enjoys reading, yoga, team trivia, and all that motherhood has to offer. Dr. Rael is committed to continuously furthering her education and is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA) as well as the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)

My daughter had a great experience with her mouth expander and braces at Union Hills Family Dental. The staff is very knowledgeable and educates the patient and family during the process. I highly recommend this office for your dental and orthodontic care.

Amazing that there are still private practices out there! Places were they actually care about you as a patient. My experience with everyone that I came in contact with at Union Hills Family Dental was exceptional! From my checkin.. to my treatment plan to the actual work...they are fast, extremely friendly, and very efficient. Look no further..make this dental office your new dental family...I know I will! Angy & quentyn did such a great job on my dental work and helping me feel comfortable while there. They explained everything they were planning on doing and why they were doing it! Ruthie at the front desk was helpful too and gave me good recommendations for products to use for at home care.

I only give this place two stars because the staff was pleasant. The facility/equipment itself is lacking - they had to compete for resources in the office. I came on a recommendation after calling to see if they accept my insurance. When I came, they took my information. We had to reschedule to address my issue - a crown. I came back and they informed me that they didn't, after all, accept my insurance (Cigna DHMO) but that they'd honor the coverage. After my crown (and a filling), they gave me a bill for $780, which I paid and then left. Four months later, they give me a call asking for $670. They determined I owed $670 two months after I left (I'm not sure why it took so long because it took me a whole 5 minutes to find my insurance coverage information)...The total cost: $2,300. The crown alone is almost $1,400, which is on the high end for places in the valley according to Google search results ($600-1300). As a patient, I'd recommend avoiding this place. The costs are over-inflated, the facilities are lacking, and the business communication is awful. I'm currently looking into legal options to see if I have any remedies for my situation, but patients have very few rights. I have a strong objection to businesses that exploit customers. To an American system that has enabled such providers to put the onus of understanding dozens of medical charges on millions of patients, rather than the thousands of medical experts who are familiar both with the services but the few insurance providers in their area. Had this facility been honest and ethical, they would've answered honestly about whether they accepted my insurance. Instead, they basically lied to bait me into paying excessive amount for services. Charges which have led to insurance providers, including my own, denying coverage at their rates.

I have extreme anxiety surrounding going to the dentist that was only made worse by a horrible experience at another dentist office. Recently I started having major tooth pain and developed an infection from an untreated cavity. Based on the reviews, I made an appointment with Union Hills Family Dentistry. I couldn't have been more pleased with how I was treated. The dentist and hygienist immediately made me feel at ease with their kindness, compassion and understanding. They throughly discussed my options for treatment and I felt comfortable in making my decision with regard to how to handle my tooth. After that issue had been taken care of, I returned for a full exam and cleaning. Angy, the hygienist, was wonderful. She was very easy to talk to and took the time to explain everything she was doing and answered all of my questions. They are also very understanding of the financial burden that dental work can cause (even with insurance) and I did not feel any pressure surrounding my decisions with regard to my care. I highly recommend this office to anyone, especially those who have anxiety about dental work.

I grew up going to this office for my dental care. I moved and never found a dental practice that could compare so now i make the long drive to continue my dental care with Dr. Ellis. Everyone from the front desk to the hygienists and dental assistants and all the Dentists have always been friendly and welcoming.

I recently visited Union Hills Dental as a new patient and I was very happy with the whole experience! I was very anxious about going to the dentist as it has been awhile for me, but all of the staff members were so nice and helped to ease my nerves. Thank you so much to Quentyn, Dr. Farzin, and Ruti for being so kind to me! I also really appreciated how thorough and clear they were when talking about my teeth and my treatment plan.
