After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree at Hood College and her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University, she continued her studies at a residency program at the Childrens Hospital of Michigan, which, among other things, specializes in developing and rehabilitating cleft palate infants. Dr. Butler completed her pediatric dentistry program by winning first place in the National Graduate Research Competition with her work with those children.
Afterwards, a large managed care group recruited Dr. Butler to Portland, where she lived and worked for eight years. In 1999, she adopted an 11-month-old girl now a young adult and settled in Gresham, where she still lives with her daughter, Breck, and their two dogs, Graham and Hansel. Dr. Butler keeps herself busy even out of the office, with hobbies that include quilting, traveling, and riding horses with her daughter.

Finding Under the Sea Dentistry has been the difference between my kiddo receiving proper dental care and not. Previously we had her with another dentist office she was very traumatized and was put in the special room. I was refereed to Under the Sea by my neighbor and hands down is my best referral I have ever gotten in my life. I explained to the Front Desk telling them that they might need to sedate her and Dr. Pam wanted the chance to see if she could work with her without needing to sedate her. I thought she was plum crazy but I saddled up and went with it. We are 4 visits into seeing her and honestly no matter where we live or if our insurance changes I will always keep my kiddo with Dr. Pam.. Dr. Pam is straightforward, calming, communicates openly with her the whole time, she adknowledges her feelings and if she needs a break then she gives her breaks, never is frustrated or feeling pressed for time. My daughter is so proud of herself with how much confidence she has obtained and overcoming her fear of the dentist. I can not even say enough about Dr. Pam and the entire staff. It is exactly what you want your child to feel when they go into the dentist. The quality of care all the way around is a once in a lifetime experience. Thank You doesnt begin to cover it..

Truly saw our humanity. Everyone encountered from the front office staff to the dental hygienists to Dr. Pam treated my daughter with respect and kindness. Recognizing her autonomy went a long way in subsiding any fear and apprehension that she had. My daughter had a very good experience and learned how to better care for her teeth. She looks forward to return visits.

My 5 year old daughter had to have some work done today and Dr. Pam and her team took such amazing care of her! They made her feel safe and comfortable and she didn't get anxious or upset once because they supported her through the whole process. My son was put to ease by the wonderful team and dentist at under the sea. He had some dental work done and it was great from the moment we walked in all the way through the treatment process. The staff were very friendly from check in to check out. The technician was super gentle and great with my one year old, and Dr. Pam is excellent! We have been patients here for over 5 years and have only great things to say about the team. My daughter is now 9 and gets genuinely excited about going to the dentist.
