Welcome to Uehara Family Cosmetic Dentistry. We are a family practice not only because we see patients of all ages (adults, parents, grandparents and children), but because our dentists are also a family Dr. Garret Uehara and Dr. Jill Uehara are brother and sister. They are thankful to have been raised in Hawai'i by their parents, Ruby and Sueo Uehara, who instilled in them a strong sense of morality, taught them the importance of respect, diligence and the value of hard work and to always be respectful and considerate of others.
With our ohana of dedicated and caring staff, our mission is to provide lifelong care for our patients with an emphasis on prevention and maintenance in a comfortable and friendly environment. We know your time is valuable and we understand that a visit to the dentist can cause anxiety for some. Doctors Germaine, Jill and Garret focus their practice on providing gentle, comprehensive and affordable dental care for children and adults. To this end we offer:
The doctors believe thatless dentistry is better.Their desire is for each of their patients to attain and maintain optimal dental health so that the need for more aggressive dental treatment due to tooth decay is eliminated or minimal. With this goal in mind, the doctors encourage regular exams and cleanings as well as good preventative hygiene education and home care.
No matter how diligent we are in taking care of our teeth, however, some tooth decay is a reality for most patients. The doctors are trained to provide all forms of general dentistry, including fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, extractions and porcelain veneers. They also have several years of specialized training for implants.
Your relationship with your dentist or any other healthcare provider is a partnership. The doctors believe that quality care and state of the art technology are only part of the solution to great oral health for their patients. They also strive to provide an environment where patients feel comfortable asking questions and where patients questions are answered fully and completely. Each of our patients is like family to us, and we feel it is a privilege to serve your dentistry needs.
In 1994, dentists Germaine and Garret Uehara (sister and brother) opened a dental office together in the Ala Moana Building at 1441 Kapiolani Blvd. In 2003 they opened a larger dental practice in the same building when their younger sister, Dr. Jill Uehara, moved back to Honolulu. Their current office in Honolulu has 5 dental chairs and is located on the 14th floor, suite 1400.
A true family practice, the doctors understand the meaning and value of working as an ohana for the benefit of their patients, staff and families. In 2007, the doctors were blessed to be able to serve the people of Hilo, Hawaii with another dental practice located at 519 E. Lanikaula St., Hilo, HI 96720.
Dr. Garret Uehara was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Hawaii in 1986. He then attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) in 1990. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Hawaii Dental Association and has gone on several dental missions to Cambodia, Honduras, and the Philippines. Dr. Garret believes that the patient-doctor relationship is extremely important and he and his staff strive to provide the best possible experience for their patients. A true believer in life-long learning, Dr. Garret has spent over 100 hours focusing on dental implant surgery techniques alone as well as numerous additional hours each year to keep up-to-date on the latest scientific and clinical developments. Dr. Garret enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 daughters, family, and friends. Aside from dentistry, his other passions include growing in the Lord, surfing, hunting, and attending the University of Hawaii football games.

I had an appointment here for 10 AM this morning and when I showed up the door was locked and nobody was inside despite their sign saying they open at 9 AM. After waiting for some time an office assistant shows up and when I told her I had a 10 AM appointment without even checking she said that I didn't. She ended up claiming that maybe I scheduled it for the other location (despite my phone record showing I'd called this location) and called them asking if I had an appointment with them. After some checking and excuses being made the dentist finally shows up, except he can't even do what I was there for. I let him know that my tooth below my crown was exposed and I was there to have it looked at and either repaired or replaced. Even though he doesn't know how to do crowns he said he could take an x-ray. The exposed tooth could clearly be seen without an x-ray and all I needed to know was first what was wrong from there I would have been fine with proceeding with an x-ray, but even had he done an x-ray I'm not sure how someone who wasn't even qualified to take care of the issue would have been able to know what to look for or to tell me what was wrong. Felt like a serious scam to me, where they schedule an appointment telling me that it'll be with the dentist who does crowns then when I show up I apparently don't have an appointment, but they'll be nice enough to still provide me with service even though that person isn't the least bit qualified. Everyone here is useless from the office staff to the dentists.

I usually see Dr Jill Uehara, but I have also seen Dr Garrett Uehara for an emergency and he is capable, cordial, and professional. Dr Jill is exceptionally skilled. She is meticulous and tends to be a perfectionist. The results are incredible. I can't feel or see any difference between my crowns and my original teeth.

I have been going to Uehara Family Dentistry for at least 30 years. They have always been professional and welcoming. It IS like a family there. I actually enjoy seeing everyone. I feel like I am in good hands with them. I highly recommend them.

Been going here since I was little and it's been nothing but wonderful things. It's just hard to make an appointment, so just make sure to book in advance. We love the Uehara 'Ohana and wonderful, accommodating, and sweet staff! Highly recommend and you won't be sorry. :)

My first visit with Dr. Garrett and the x-ray tech was terrific. Garrett advised me to use the flossing brush to clean between my teeth and gums more efficiently and to improve the condition of my gums. He and the entire staff were wonderful !!! Everything was so enjoyable with my followup visit. Excellent work by Alisa the hygienist in the cleaning. She was so patient and did a very thorough job !!! She also advised me that I can have additional cleanings due to my diabetic condition. I really appreciate being advised of that. The entire staff is so friendly and efficient !!!

Use to be scared to go dentist. Was always bad experience. Not with Dr. Jill Uyehara! She's professional, kind, gentle w needle lol, and unlike other dentists feel like she makes decisions more about what's best for you rather than your pocket... other dentists in my experience just cared about their pockets and would recommend procedures I'm glad I didn't do with them... Dr. Jill is conservative and will only do procedures she deems necessary... which I appreciate and I feel like she's looked out for me since I've been seeing her... also all her referrals have been great experiences as well... her and their whole team are excellent!! Glad I found them!!

Dr. Uehara and the amazing team are always so kind and friendly over the years. Appointments are perfectly spaced out so there's virtually no waiting in the lobby, the rooms are very clean, and every procedure I've ever done has been next to painless and very enjoyable.

The entire staff at Uehara Dentistry are friendly, warm, helpful and professional. I've been a patient for over 13 years, and my experiences have always been pleasant. I live in Aiea and will drive down to Ala Moana for my appointments because I love Dr. Jill and my hygienist Chris!!!
