Great experience knowing that the students are shadowed throughout the whole process. The students also show excellent team spirit.

I received the worst dental care and customer service here after trying for years. they also discriminate against you based on many things . I decided to get my dental care somewhere else who have more respect for human beings . They also called me for scaring me by a doctor who is in charge of their patient relations . she was very accusatory and added more salt to the pain. My insurance paid for all the covered treatment and still their billing office keep sending a bill which of course I am not going to double pay but they still try.

Does anyone know about the cost of an implant being done by the student periodontal clinic? They charge me around $4000 to $5000. How's yours with your experience?

The dental staff at this location aside from the front desk staff are awesome. Everyone I encounter the day of my visit was extremely helpful and kind. However; the older lady at the front desk I believe her name starts with a P is beyond rude. She never greeted any of the patients who approached her window. Never said good morning or expressed any form of kindness. Her tone was rude and off-putting. While the other young lady next to her window was so friendly and polite. The older lady needs some customer care training because if it weren't for the rest of the staff at this location I wouldn't recommend for anyone to get dental services from here.

Great doctors but unfortunately the billing department can ruin your life. The doctors deserve all the credit. The billing department... I'm not sure if they know what they're doing.

Today morning(Jan.24.22) there was a bold man on front desk. He was just ignoring me. I never seen arrogance person like him. I came almost 30 minut before my appiontment. When i came, he had another costumer but keep talking with her. I waited 30 minut just standing next to there. When my number called, he said you have to fill it out this form. Why didnt he tell me earlier when i was standing over there? And i spent just 2 minut to fill that form and came back he said sit and wait over there i am serving next costumer. Like skipping my number and taking next costumer. And i was keep waiting. After 1 hour i asked again how long should i wait? he said i am working here when is your paper work ready i will call you. Actually my paper work was on another table behind him seems like he didnt wanna look at it or forgot it. I spent almost 2 hour for check in. While i am waiting many costumers who came after me so easy done with check up and went to dental service. Made me feel like he was discriminating me cause i am asian and pregnant.

The young lady with fake eyebrows in the general dentistry department was very short and not very nice to the people coming to her window! However, the receptionist next to her, kristy, was So sweet to ALL her Patients. Greeted every one with a hello, how are you, and wished them a happy holiday when they left the area! It hard to sit in a waiting room and observe this disconnect with patients! Maybe she needs to go to another dept!

Incredibly poor service. The student dental trainees are always poorly trained in administration of the clinic rules so that over the years they have unnecessarily wasted hours of my times. This year has been a new low. I called in August for an appointment and since then I have had two appointments taking up hours of my time and received in total one quarter of a deep cleaning. I repeat, one quadrant of my teeth got cleaned during five hours at the clinic. Twice my student dentist has promised to call me when her next opening was available. She has never called. I've now been waiting three months for my next appointment. I've called the front desk countless times to get an appointment time and they never answer.

My son has been seeing Dr. Le. since he was seven. Before Dr. Le, my son had experienced intense trauma from a previous pediatric dentist (not UCSF). The trauma was so bad he was completely terrified if even being looked at. Dr. Le and his team were aware of the situation going in. They took their time, they got to know him, they made sure he always knew what they were going to do, they did not lie to him or try to trick him. If he said stop or no, they stopped. They respected him and treated him with dignity. Because his trauma was so great, he had to go under general anesthesia for oral surgery. Dr. Le also performed all seven hours of these procedures. After going through all of this, now, my son goes right in, jumps in the chair, opens his mouth and won't even watch the little tv Bc he thinks it might bother Dr. Le or Dr. Le may not like what he likes to watch. So he leaves it off. It's like a different child. There isn't enough money in the world for the care we have received at the UCSF Pediatric dental clinic and from Dr. Le. Also, the front desk has always been very accommodating to us. They know we drive in from Discovery Bay. Sometimes we get stuck in traffic. We always call and they have always helped us be able to still be seen close to our regular appointment. They are always nice and kind.

Don't come here for dental emergencies because you will not see them for 30 to 60 days smh.

Echoing another review. "The staff at the reception were extremely impatient and annoyed. They acted if you were a burden." I'm currently in the waiting room and havent been seen yet, despite an appointment. An hour later..... The front reception is understaffed. There's no signage to assist direction for the patients, and guy rightfully gets annoyed when people ask a question. If there was simple signage things would run more smoothly. Even pediactric staff is annoyed by questions. They would rather just say "no" instead of offering help or an alternative. Smh

I've received great care over the years. No complaints. What folks need to realize is that this is a school with scores of dental students. You're not going to a private denti$t with only one person in his waiting room. If you are one of those "entitled" types, this isn't the place for you.

Im very upset feel like I been mistreated not welcome and thrown out the dental clinic because I need a root canal and in pain no love and heart!!! Thats not uscf style ! i have a filling that popped out right back molar and I went to san Mateo emergency dental clinic and got seen by the doctor on 11/16!!!! Two days ago!! They told me that I need a root canal told me they can only pull my tooth and could only give me amoxicillan and ibuprofen !!! They recommended me to come to ucsf dentil clinic which I was happy to hear when I get there the lady giving out mask was very nice helped me and showed me the direction I needed to go i grab a number d43 around 3pm and take a sit fill out the papers I needed for registration i have been seen here before have that in mind!!... as im sitting down i hear the lady at the front of the counter said alot of people today and said I swear if one more person comes in made me feel uncomfortable!! Wanted to get up and leave which I should have ..... next the man calls d42 to his window on the left side of the desk from the lady complaining about her job in front .... I realize that the light at the counter turned to d43 which was my number !! so I go check and the gentleman was talking with a person that looked like a nurse so i sat down waited 10 min and went back up and seen him talking with nobody and he asked me yess?? I replied did you call d43 I have the ticket here you never called my number then he tries to tell me there is nothing we can do here today that they will just give you ibuprofen i explained to him that i been seen already and recommended over here to get reevaluated for a root canal then he gets upset and ask me if I have my insurance card which I didn't but im pretty sure they had it in the system and that there was something he could have done to help me that make me give 80 dollars i didn't have on me and get reinversed for not having my insurance card I understand there's rules and going certain way abot things but this was just a ugly situation and really disappointed because now I have to wait for my tooth to get fixed evan longer in pain you need better staff in the front of the clinic in registation uscf !!!! Please we are going through enough as it us as people and don't need to feel like a burden going to fix my aching tooth because your stressed doing your job in registration

Impossible to get an appointment by phone so I showed up in person and the security guard asked me to leave.

FIRST REVIEW I HAVE EVER WRITTEN AT AGE 35. And I am a laid back. Poor dental work. Absolute zoo. Lost my Covid test results for my tooth extraction. Teeth cleaning and examine took 4 hours. People are packed into the center during Covid with about 1 foot distancing. Professors seem very uninterested. Price is not discounted by much. I'm not disgruntled. Want to save you money and time. They big business with zero compassion.

If you have unlimited free time and an exceptional amount of understanding and patience, perhaps you should try this dental clinic. Otherwise, I would urge you to steer clear of it. My mother paid several hundreds of dollars as a deposit towards a procedure that ultimately was never performed. The process of getting a refund has been excruciatingly painful and is still ongoing - it has been OVER 4 MONTHS! She asked me to get in contact with them on her behalf just in case there was a language barrier or miscommunication. I called the billing department several times over the course of many weeks and a wide range of times, and was never able to speak to an actual human being. If you do not get hung up on immediately, you are directed straight to voicemail. I left many messages and not once did anyone call me back. I finally called the general line in hopes of getting some form of assistance. I explained my situation in detail, and the person on the line literally sighed and said "Have you tried contacting the billing department?". Um, yes? That's what I have been doing and what I just tried to very calmly explain to you. (Needless to say, I was no longer calm at this point). I asked her if there was ANY other option or person I could speak to for assistance, but she cut me off and said she would transfer me to the billing department. Before I even had a chance to say anything, the call was transferred. Of course, as we all expect by now, it went straight to their voicemail. Hah. I am generally not an unkind person. With the pandemic going on, and assuming that they are probably short staffed and overworked, I wanted to give them the chance to resolve it on their end. I was trying to avoid having to file a dispute with the credit card company to obtain the refund from them, but this phone call (along with the plain rudeness and blatant lack of sympathy & care) was the last straw. Regarding the actual dental procedures, it's hit or miss depending on which student doctor you get. You roll the dice. It's sad because I would really like to support the student dentists in furthering their education, but the service from the staff is a major turn off and makes it not worth it...

Many years ago. Had a crown done but it took soooo many long visits and the end result was quite poor. Not worth it at all, just hire a professional.

We chose UCSF as the location to have our first child. After 14 hours of labor, the doctor told us to get ready to push and walked out. Five minutes later a doctor we'd never seen before told us that my wife had to have a c-section, and thus began our ordeal at UCSF Medical Center. Without going into all the details I'll just touch on the highlights: *They did not give my wife the proper amount of anesthetic and sensation returned mid surgery. *Once my son was born and wheeled off to the NICU I was more or less ignored by staff there and not told what was going on, what was wrong or what they were doing, and more or less pushed out of the way with no information. * My wife contracted an antibiotic resistant staff infection which almost killed her, and required rehospitalization * Once she was rehospitalized and I was splitting time between home and her bed side, we were told that I couldn't leave our son in the room with her since he'd been discharged and had to lug our newborn home to walk the dog 3 times a day. * I contracted an antibiotic resistant respiratory infection that took more than a month to clear. * While some staff was helpful and courteous, some staff was downright aweful with one nurse telling my wife, who had had a c-section and was hospitalized with a resistant staff infection to get up and do it herself, when she asked for help cleaning her breast pump. In short, DO NOT HAVE YOUR CHILD HERE! Go somewhere else, have it at home, anyplace but here! Please note the maternity ward has since moved to Mission Bay my review still stands
