Dr. Tyler E. Nelson was born and raised in Napa, California. After graduating from Vintage High School, he went on to attend UC Davis where he played intercollegiate soccer while completing his Biological Science degree with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. With the plan to pursue Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a career, he went to Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007. After dental school he married his college sweetheart, Jamie Nelson, and returned to the Bay Area to start his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UCSF. He completed his medical school training as UC Davis and General Surgery internship at UCSF as well. Upon graduation in 2013, Dr. Nelson was blessed with a baby boy, Teaghan, who now keeps him busy at home. Aside from chasing his son around the house, he still enjoys playing soccer, hunting, fishing, camping, wood work, and photography.
With his formal training behind him, Dr. Nelson can give you University level care without the need to leave our community.With special interest in implant surgery, bone grafting, soft-tissue grafting, trauma surgery, corrective jaw surgery, pathology, TMJ, and wisdom teeth removal, Dr. Nelson is prepared to take care of all of your needs.

Everyone in this office is amazing! I was anxious the second i heard the words oral surgery but they are super attentive, extremely patient and personable and when i needed a certain medicine for my nausea they did not hesistate. Ive never felt more comfortable getting a procedure done. They walked me thru every step and were available for questions over the phone and in person from the gate. I will be recommending Dr Nelson and his amazing staff to everyone that needs oral surgery! They are the real deal and a true blessing!

I had the best experience today! Dr Nelson was excellent treating my son, was able to avoid Iv sedation and use nitrous. Dr Nelson was excellent in explaining treatment details without "sugar coating". Was so much better for my son to know what was going to happen and be prepared. He trusted Dr Nelson. I am so grateful! Staff was awesome also.

I was EXTREMELY afraid. Never had a tooth pulled yet alone 3!! Expected much pain when the numbness wore off. NO!! Not even enough to need pain medications past the first day. Obvious, to me, this has to be because Dr. Nelson is VERY good! DO NOT BE AFRAID!! They will take good care of you. Kindest people you will ever meet. Why can't all dentists be this good? Thank you Dr. Nelson.

Dr. Nelson is a great surgeon, he took care of a very close family member. Her surgery went well, was straight forward. The care she received was exceptional and the staff was welcoming. Would recommend Dr. Nelson to anyone!
