Dr. Coakley is a native of Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was born and raised in Holmdel, graduating from Holmdel High school in 1991. He obtained both his Master of Science in Neurobiology and Bachelor of Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a 2001 graduate from the University of Maryland at Baltimore where he graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Magna Cum Laude, and was accepted into the highly prestigious OKU Dental Honor Society.
In keeping with his goal of becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Coakley was accepted into and completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, one of the most respected and reputable orthodontic specialty programs in the country. While completing his orthodontic residency, Dr. Coakley was chosen as Chief Resident and served as a member of the South Texas Craniofacial Anomaly Team.
Dr. Coakley takes an active role in meeting and exceeding the standards of his profession. He is an active member of many professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Monmouth and Ocean County Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the New Jersey Society of Orthodontists. He is a lifelong learner and enjoys keeping at the forefront of his profession by regularly attending continuing education courses and maintaining his position among the dental academic community.
Dr. Coakley has devoted much of his time to academia. Throughout his tenure at both the University of Maryland and the University of Texas, Dr. Coakley earned several academic achievement awards, maintained multiple teaching positions, conducted research, and served on the Committee for Recruitment and Admissions.
Currently, Dr. Coakley is a member of the Regional Cleft Palate Team and is a Clinical Attending at Monmouth Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, and Centra State Medical Center. One of his passions and specialties is to treat children born with cleft lip and palate and to share his knowledge and experience with other medical professionals. Dr. Coakley maintains a full-time private orthodontic practice in Little Silver, New Jersey where he offers his patients traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces, Invisalign invisible braces, and Incognito braces. Dr. Coakley is a premier provider of Invisalign, a designation reserved for the top five percent of orthodontists nationwide.
Dr. Coakley and his family reside in Manasquan, New Jersey, where they enjoy the beach, pool, and outdoor family activities. In his free time, Dr. Coakley can be found golfing, boating, and watching collegiate sports.

Dr. Coakley and his Two River Orthodontics team are terrific people and professionals. We have been so pleased and impressed throughout our daughters care plan. Furthermore, it is not difficult to get appointments and you are in and out quickly each time. The office is convenient, clean, and friendly. I recommend Dr. Coakley completely.

My 9 yo is a patient with Dr. Coakley & his team. What an amazing team it is! From my questions regarding insurance, billing, & appointments to accommodating our pre-school schedule. During our initial consultation Dr. Coakley & Suzanne explained what the X-ray revealed, suggested treatment options,& allowed us all the time we needed to ask questions-pretty much no stone unturned during the consult & I immediately felt at ease. Every aspect thus far has been handle with exceptional professionalism all the while maintaining care & concern for my sons needs & worries of the "what to expect." I could not be more pleased & would highly recommend Dr. Coakley & his team.

Both my son and I are patients of Dr. Coakley. As a woman who is obsessed with beautiful teeth and oral hygiene Dr. Coakley is the perfect Ortho for us. I am an invisalign patient (after having worn braces as a child) and my invisalign result is even better than I expected. Not only does Dr. Coakley straighten your teeth, he takes your face, smile and the shape of your teeth into consideration when he designs your treatment plan and the best possible aesthetic outcome for you. Getting braces and keeping regular appointments can be rough for kids. Dr. Coakley takes a genuine interest in his young patients and makes ortho apts quick, painless and fun. He did an equally beautiful job on my son's teeth. His team is friendly and professional and they and they get you through your appointment with ease and have been very accommodating. Dr. Coakley is the perfect blend of caring and competent. He handled three very difficult cases for our family, and consistently achieved the desired results. Aside from being an excellent orthodontist, he is also a genuinely nice person who cares deeply for his patients and staff. Our children felt cared for with personalized attention from both Dr. Coakley and everyone in the office. You will not find a better practice.

They have been amazing with my kids.
