Dr. Craig Shepherd founded our practice and has been working in dentistry in communities in East Tennessee for more than 20 years. He has studied at the renowned Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education and remains involved in several professional organizations, with the goal of staying up to speed on all the latest technological advances in dentistry.

Dr. Nathaniel Renner has been part of the family at Tusculum Dental Care for more than a decade. Like Dr. Shepherd, Dr. Renner also holds membership in some prestigious professional organizations, including the American Dental Association.

Dr. Craig Shepherd is a native Greenevillian who graduated from Greeneville High School in 1978. After receiving a B.S. degree from the Tennessee Technological University in 1982, he went on to receive his DDS from the University of Tennessee Memphis in 1986. After practicing for 2 years in Knoxville, Tennessee, he opened his own practice in 1989, moving into the current facility in 1998.

Dr. Shepherd has received advanced training at the prestigious Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education as well as the Pride Institute. He maintains memberships in many professional organizations and strives to stay abreast of all the latest advances in dentistry.

He married his wonderful wife Natalie in 1989, and they have been blessed with 2 children, Ali and Eli, who attend Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University and Tusculum University. Dr. Shepherd attends First Church of God and has served on the Locust Springs Christian Retreat Board of Directors.

Dr. Shepherd is a warm and caring dentist. He is proficient, professional and experienced in all aspects of dentistry. He has the ease and comfortable chair-side manner that keeps patients laughing in the chair. He often says, Were all in this together, and hopes to make both his patients and staff a part of his extended family.

Dr. Nathaniel Renner is a native Greenevillian and graduated from Greeneville High School in 1998. He attended East Tennessee State University for his undergraduate studies and then received his DDS from the University of Tennessee Memphis in 2005. After practicing for a year in Johnson City, he joined Tusculum Dental Care in 2006.

Danielle has been in dentistry since 1998 and brings a diverse work experience background to our practice. She is our Insurance Coordinator and is skilled in administering our patients insurance plans. Danielle likes being able to provide her helpful service to patients to receive the dental care they need. Her warm smile and calm demeanor only enhance her focused efficiency. She has two beautiful children, Cayden and Maura. Danielle loves scrapbooking, spending time with her husband, children, friends, and watching the Florida Gators! We will continue to try and convert her. Go Vols! She is a fantastic addition to our team.

Rhonda has been part of our dedicated Church Street team and is a beautiful addition to our Tusculum Dental Care family. She attended E.T.S.U. and is a Registered Dental Assistant. However, you will find her at the front desk as a welcome face, keeping the office running smoothly and talking to her with ease on the phone. She is extremely knowledgeable about dental insurance and helping patients to schedule their dental needs. Rhonda is married and has one sweet daughter. Her hobbies are reading, word puzzles, going to the lake, and spending time with her family.

Christy is a valued member of our administrative team who will meet and greet and skillfully help you achieve your best smile. Her appreciable managerial skills are complemented by her years of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant with certifications in Nitrous Oxide and Coronal Polishing as she joined dentistry in 1996. Christy is passionate about getting to know our patient families and ensuring they have the best experience at every visit. She and her husband Shane have a son Quinton who lives in Nashville. Christy enjoys spending time with family, traveling, camping, Lake Life, and the beach when she has time.

As an integral part of our highly skilled clinical team, Alexa is an outstanding Registered Dental Assistant. She has earned her Expanded Function Dental Assistant Certification from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistrys Continuing Dental Education Department at UT Memphis. Alexa brings positivity and loves helping each patient have a great dental experience, along with her bright personality and stellar dental assisting skills. Alexa is married, and in her free time, she enjoys various activities.

Marcie is a Registered and Certified Dental Assistant. She is an abundantly experienced dental assistant continuing to make each patient feel comfortable. Marcie is married and enjoys her daughter, stepdaughter, and granddaughter. She enjoys spending time with family, swimming, and gardening.

Miranda is a gifted Registered and Certified Dental Assistant. She has earned her Expanded Function Dental Assistant Certification from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistrys Continuing Dental Education Department at UT Memphis, and has attended WSCC. She takes pride in providing excellent dental care for each patient with skill and compassion and is passionate about helping people feel happy with their smiles. Miranda and her husband adore their two lovely daughters and treasure making memories with their family. She loves to explore the great outdoors and has a passion for dogs, horseback riding, camping, traveling, and attending concerts in her free time.

Katie is a Registered Dental Assistant and has attended W.S.C.C., earning her Associate of Science Degree in Pre-Dental Hygiene. Having worked in general dentistry and oral surgery, she has a wealth of experience and is enthusiastic about providing a friendly and caring patient experience. Katie is an excellent asset to our team and is certified in Nitrous Oxide Inhalation monitoring and IV therapy. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and husband, Stacey. She can be found playing with her two sons, tending to flowers and trees, and has a love of all things fall. Here is a fun fact that might provide you with a few ideas for binge-watching, Katie and her husband love to watch Netflix.

Donna has been in dentistry as a registered dental hygienist since 1995. She attends a variety of continuing education courses that keep her job interesting and exciting. Donna is great at patient care. Patients love seeing her familiar face and she tries not to lecture too much about flossing to the nonflossersand you know who you are! She and her husband Andy have two children, Madison and Drew. Her family enjoys camping together. Donna also enjoys walking, and scrapbooking.

Jessica has been a registered dental hygienist since 2005. Jessica is insightful and easily relates to others. She says, Patient relationships are the best part of my job. Jessica loves to hear her patients needs and meeting their goals. She is a busy mom and enjoys her kids, Tyler and Jacob. We are thankful for her friendly, warm, caring, and thoughtful manner. She finds relaxation in the outdoors and might be spotted in a tree stand every once in awhile!

Kandice received her B.S. in Dental Hygiene in 2008 from E.T.S.U. and an Associate of Science degree from W.S.C.C. She is dental laser certified and enjoys her role as a skilled Dental Hygienist, offering a beaming smile, encouraging words, and providing dental education in teaching our young to mature aged patients on optimum dental techniques and education for a lifetime of smiles. Kandice is married and has three delightful children and two fantastic bonus children with her husband. Although very busy, Kandice finds time to enjoy outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, hiking, and travel when she has free time.

Rita received her B.S. in Dental Hygiene in 1994 and graduated Cum Laude. With her many years of professional dental hygiene experience and her dental laser certification, Rita enjoys her role as a Dental Hygienist. Her super caring personality, kindness, and gentle touch make her patients feel at ease. Rita and her husband have one lovely daughter. Ritas favorite pastime is being outdoors and enjoying her Toy Poodle named Bridget.
