At Turnagain Dental, we have a wonderful team of dental professionals and a friendly and welcoming office staff. Although I love using my hand skills every day, my favorite aspect of dentistry is the privilege of spending time with my patients. More specifically, I enjoy my one-on-one time with patients who have reservations about seeing the dentist. Dental anxiety is real. Although I have never personally experienced the dread associated with going to see the dentist (due to the fact that my father was my dentist), I know that many people, whether or not they readily admit to it, are frightened to go see the dentist. I have devoted a lot of time studying and practicing the pharmacological treatment remedies designed to cater to so many of you that are anxious to see the dentist. For me, the satisfaction of placing a beautiful and comfortable restoration in a patients mouth cannot hold a candle to the satisfaction that I feel when I help a patient overcome a 40-year-long hatred of dentistry.
I also have a specific interest in supplementing my patients pearly whites with augmenting the soft tissue of the face. A patients smile doesnt begin and end with the dentition. Lips, crows feet, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and even the forehead/brow region are all integral parts of the total aesthetic facial profile.
Erin Wiese is a registered Dental Hygienist. Erin graduated with an associate in applied science degree in dental hygiene from University of Alaska Anchorage, and has worked in the dental field for over 10 years. She is trained in laser applications for treating gum disease and strives to stay informed on new research and procedures. Erin enjoys working with her patients to achieve their optimal oral health which contributes to overall health and wellness. As a lifelong Alaskan, it brings her great pleasure to assist her friends, neighbors, and new generations in findings the proper balance between busy schedules and oral self-care. In her free time she enjoys, yoga, traveling, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Zuki.
Maija was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. She graduated from Dimond high school where she played high school volleyball and soccer and participated in the Japanese Immersion program. After high school, Maija attended college in Arizona, where she continued to pursue soccer and school and began working in the dental field as a scheduling coordinator at a cosmetic dental office is Scottsdale. After 3 years of living in Arizona Maija decided it was time to move back to her home in Alaska and commit herself to becoming a dental hygienist. The pursuit of becoming a dental hygienist came from a combination of enjoying going to the dentist as a child and wanting to provide others with similar enthusiastic and enjoyable experiences at the dentist. Maija graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2012.
In her free time Maija enjoys being outside with her friends, family and dogs. Maija is also a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines and enjoys using her travel benefits to travel around Alaska exploring new towns and basking in the vastness and beauty Alaska has to offer. Her favorite town so far has been Ketchikan but prefers to spend her layovers in either Sitka or Juneau. Maija also loves to fish for rainbows and grayling, she likes contributing to the freezer too, but catch and release is her passion.
I have worked in the dental field for over 12 years now, and when my previous dentist retired, I was fortunate enough to land a position with the Turnagain Dental Family. I am impressed with Dr. Kennedys quality of dentistry and patient care. We have a great team that works well together and that is focused, with the patients best interest at heart. I am grateful to be a part of such a warm, welcoming dental family. I began my career as a dental assistant in 2007 with ample training in IV/oral sedation, pediatrics, TMJ dysfunctions, and advanced oral surgery procedures. Over time, I found that my true passion was with the business and management side of dentistry.
I was born and raised on the Kenai Peninsula, and have a 14 year old son, Brayden. He is my world, and while most of my time is chauffeuring him to various sporting activities during the school year, I still get in a cycle and yoga class. In the summer, I like to get outdoors as much as I can to enjoy everything this great state has to offer such as camping, hiking, and fishing.
Tiara was born and raised in Alaska, shes been in the dental field for over 13 years. She completed a dental assisting program in 2007 but enjoyed the business side of the dental practice so much she continued in the office. Tiara enjoys working with patients and helping them through all their dental needs, answering any questions they may have, whether it be treatment, insurance, or scheduling. In her free time she loves spending time with her family, hiking, biking, and camping with her husband and their two dogs. They try to explore a new trail in the beautiful Alaska outdoors as much as possible.

From the amazing front counter ladies, to the hygienists to the dentist/his assistant (Melanie <3), the whole team is great! I went in last time for a routine cleaning, they found two cavities and was able to get in me back in the same day for a filling. Erin did my cleaning last time, it was honestly the most gentle yet still thorough cleaning I've ever had!! They always make great recommendations for my own personal oral health too. I (used to) get tonsil stones my whole life, I've previously NEVER been given a tip for dealing with them. Maya (I don't think she's there anymore?) recommended an oil pulling rinse, and I never get them anymore!!! And Erin suggested softer brush heads to help avoid pre-mature gum recession. I always feel very catered to and taken care of when I'm there. Who knew you could love your dentist so much!? ;)

This was by far the best experience I've ever had at a dentist! Dr. Kennedy and Erin were so knowledgeable and kind, and took time to explain everything they were doing and seeing. Everything was totally painless and stress free. Seriously, just go here. Thanks to Dr. Kennedy, Erin, Michelle, Tiara & Alexis, literally everyone!

This place is an absolute joke of a care provider. I just received a bill from 4 months ago because whoever works with insurance their has no understanding of how to tell which care will be provided. I spent over $300 dollars to get x-rays and panos which I was specifically told would be covered by my FEHB Blue Cross benefits. After paying them $200 dollars for "new patient enrollment" dues I just received another invoice for over $200 dollars from the "care" I received over 4 months ago now, saying it is over 90 days due and has finance charges on my account. I paid them, and hope to never hear from them again. Stay clear of these unprofessional and disorganized con artists.

Amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. They worked with me when I was experiencing financial issues to break the payments up into manageable portions. As for the dental work, It's been the most efficient dental work I've recieved in my life. My past dental offices would cause major discomfort while numbing my gums over multiple attempts but at Turnagain Dental they get it done on the first try.

I highly recommend. I moved here last summer, had our first appointments and just had the 6 month cleaning. Staff have all been extremely friendly and kind. The dentist is honest and direct. I have lived in many places and been to MANY dentists and been through all the gimmics of trying to tell me I had problems I didn't have and needed services I didn't need. Dr. Kennedy is honest, direct, isn't there to sell anything, takes the patient's lead and to top it off...has a good sense of humor. Shout out to the dental hygienist! Erin does such a great job cleaning your teeth! I'm grateful to have landed with this team.

I have nothing but praise about the staff, facility, and services provided. I had an extensive work done over multiple visits, and each visit was exceptional. From the scheduling to procedure, they made it easy as possible.

Time for a more up to date review!! The staff is exceptionally rude, they over charge, and then when you finally get a statement six months late (because they had issues with their system is the excuse?) they are unwilling to tell you what unpaid bill is all about, but they sure will take your money!!! Let's face it, all dentist are about the same, teeth cleaning all about the same. But it is the office staff that makes or breaks the experience. The lady that answered the phone just lost them three patients.

Front desk staff is very friendly. The dentist, assistant and hygenist were all very thorough. They all explained everything to me, and offered to answer any questions. As a pretty anxious person that doesn't tend to speak up with my concerns, I greatly appreciate this.

I recently had my teeth cleaned by Erin at Turnagain Dental. It was my first time with her as my hygienist and she was wonderful. She is efficient and knowledgeable and made the experience easy and enjoyable... Her professionalism would make you think she has been there for years, but come to find out I was her first true patient as a hygienist at Turnagain! Perfect fit. First of many I'm sure. Thanks!

Special thanks to Erin for recommending a mouth wash they carry. I know. My first thoughts were pushing product, but it really makes my teeth feel clean. As someone who lives with PTSD routines are very hard for me to keep. The clean mouth wash feeling has increased my brushing and flossing. Thanks Erin , that suggestion is really helping.
