In short, we are here to help you achieve a healthier, more beautiful smile! Many of our surgical treatments are designed to improve the aesthetics and function of your teeth and gums. Stephen J. Turella, DMD will determine if you are candidate for surgery, and review all of your possible treatment options during your first visit with us.
He received an undergraduate BS in biology from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma. He then went on to attend the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine on an Army HPSP Scholarship. After graduating with his DMD in 2002, Dr. Turella embarked on an 11 year Army Career. During that career he deployed with the 1st Brigade 25th infantry Division to Mosul Iraq for 9 months as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Upon returning from deployment, he started a 4 year Oral Surgery Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center. Before leaving the Army in 2013, Dr. Turella got the opportunity to serve as a staff surgeon then as assistant program director of the William Beaumont Army Medical Centers Oral Surgery Residency. He continues to further his training with regular continuing education courses, which includes serving as Director for a local Multi-disciplinary Dental Study Club.
Dr. Turella strongly believes in supporting the community that supports your business. Since he came to the Peninsula, he has expanded access to care for the over 60% of our local youth (0-20) on Medicaid as the only local surgeon willing to accept their insurance. Since 2016 he has been providing local surgical services for these kids. Prior to that, these patients would have had to travel to Bremerton to receive these services. Dr. Turella understands for some of those kids, traveling that distance was an obstacle to care that they could not over-come. He further serves our dental community by volunteering to provide care for low-income patients at the Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic (formerly VIMO) and by serving as the acting Olympic Peninsula Dental Society President.
In his free time Dr. Turella enjoys fishing, home improvement projects, Seattle sports and above all spending time with his family, which includes his daughters Libby and Clare, his wife Kirsti and his golden retriever, Ray.

My son just had all 4 wisdom teeth removed without being asleep during the surgery. This clinic made him feel comfortable and treated him with such gentleness and kindness. They explained in detail what his recovery process would need and what to expect. They exceeded my expectations and then some. My son even got a little card from them less than 48 hrs later. By far the best oral surgeon i have ever experienced! 10/10 for sure !

In and out in 20 minutes for a tooth extraction. Very professional, answered all my questions and did a great job. Definitely would recommend to others.

Highly recommended! Excellent staff and I was appraised of what was happening throughout the entire procedure. Closing instructions were extremely thorough and future opportunities were presented.

10/10 recommend, when I went in for my initial consultation all of the staff were very welcoming and sweet, Dr. Turella was very informative on the whole procedure, what to expect, how they planned to Ext both of my bottom wisdom teeth, with keeping in mind I was very nervous beings I had never been put to sleep before. At the end of my consult I was sent home with medicine given from the office to help me relax before my procedure, the ladies in the front brought me back and explained everything they did while prepping me for the IV, they had a numbing spray used on my arm that helped so much (I have a fear of needles) I couldn't even feel the IV being placed, my wake up was so smooth and the staff were so helpful escorting me out afterwards. They also called later that evening to check on me, we were able to laugh about some of the things I had said while falling asleep, very comfortable and clean clinic, staff are very personable. Thankful for such a great experience after being nervous!
