I love the opportunities that orthodontics has provided for me to meet so many wonderful families in my community, and to help my patients improve their smiles and their self-esteem. The transformation that we get to see as our patients progress through treatment is truly wonderful.
Many of our patients start off a little shy and concerned about their smile, but as they grow and mature and their smiles improve, its amazing to see a change in how they present themselves to their family, friends, and to us.
Since each patient is so unique and special, it is a gift to meet each family and bring them into our orthodontic family. My team and I go out of our way to make sure that our patients feel comfortable and like they are part of our family so they can enjoy their experience with us as much as possible.
I attend continuing education seminars on a regular basis to keep current with the latest technology in orthodontic care and treatment. I believethat continuing education is important because it facilitates excellent clinical care and comfort for my patients.
I am originally from American Fork, Utah, and currently reside in Forsyth County with my wife Sarah, who is a native of North Carolina. I enjoy spending much of my free time with my Sarah and our two children, participating in church activities, scuba diving, snowboarding, watching movies with Sarah, and reading. I am also very active in our community through the Mission of Mercy Clinics, which provide free dental care to those in need.

Sarah works as an insurance liaison; shefilesthe paperwork for our patients to receive all the insurance benefits they deserve. She graduated from the UNC dental assisting program in 2007 and joined our office in 2011. Hergoal is to help make the insurance and financial side of orthodontics as easy as possible.
Crystal grew up as an 'Army brat' and has been an Air Force wife for the last 26 years. With her husband retiring from the USAF life has brought them to Winston-Salem to be near family. Crystal has three sons and a beautiful daughter-in-law. Crystal graduated from the dental assisting program at Wayne Commmunity College in 1998. Crystal loves orthodontics because she loves watching smiles transform and is very excited to join the Tucker Team. On the weekends you can find Crystal enjoying family time, antique shopping with her husband, crafting, relaxing on Belews lake or with their three dogs.
Amber graduated from Forsyth Tech dental assisting program in 2013 and is excited to have joined the Tucker Orthodontics team. As a chairside assistant, Amber works with our patients to help them achieve a beautiful, straight smile. These interactions are her favorite aspect of the job: Amber loves seeing the changes that take place in our patients smiles and personalities.
In her free time, Amber enjoys being with her husband Logan, their daughter Rigby, their son Waygrum, and the rest of their family. She loves sports, and since shesa former college basketball and soccer player, Amber now seeks anything that provides an adrenaline rush.
Taylor grew up in the Winston-Salem area. She graduated from The University of North Carolina dental assisting program in 2017 and then trained in orthodontic assisting in Raleigh. Taylor joined our practice in 2018 when she moved back to the Winston-Salem area to be closer to family.
Michelle assists Dr. Tucker with clinical procedures, helps patients feel comfortable on their first visit to see us, and backs upthe front desk whenever needed. Michelle graduated from Forsyth Tech in 2004 as a DANB-certified dental assistant and now has well over ten years of experience working with orthodontic patients. Michelle loves working with patients and seeing their smiles change as they journey through their orthodontic treatment.
At home, Michelle loves spending time with her friends and family. Her young daughter Mallory and her son Carson keep her very busy! When she has time, Michelle likes going to the beach, playing with her two dogs, and spending time on her familys farm.
Kayla loves the outdoors and riding horses as well as playing with her dog Bristol. On the weekends she can be found hunting and fishing, or playing a game of softball with her local slowpitch team. She has really enjoyed getting to know our patients since joining us in 2018 and loves seeing them progress through treatment.
Destiny graduated from the dental assisting program at Guilford Technical Community College in 2015, and joinedour office shortly thereafter. The hands-on aspects of her job are what Destiny enjoys most. Her favorite thing, however, is seeing the transformation of peoples smile during their treatment.
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience. Your orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.
If you want to improve the look and feel of your smile, then any age can be a great age to see the orthodontist. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven; however, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens, with about one in every five orthodontic patients being over the age of 21. Whether you're considering treatment for yourself or for a child, any time is a good time to visit the orthodontist.
The amount of time spent in braces will vary depending on the individual patient, because every smile responds differently to treatment. Treatment times can take anywhere between six and 30 months, but most standard treatments take about 22 months.
With braces, you should brush your teeth at least three times a day to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy and clean. Brushing regularly will help remove any food that may be caught between the braces. You should also floss daily to get in between your braces where your brush isn't able to reach. Your orthodontist can show you how to properly brush and floss once your braces are placed.
Yes! In fact, it's even more important that patients receiving orthodontic treatment visit their dentist regularly. With braces, food may be caught in places that your toothbrush can't reach. This causes bacteria to build up that can lead to cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease. Your dentist will work closely with your orthodontist to make sure that your teeth stay clean and healthy while wearing braces.
Playing an instrument or a contact sport may require some adjustment when you first get your braces, but wearing braces will not stop you from participating in any of your school activities. If you play a contact sport, it is recommended that you wear a mouthguard to protect your braces or appliance.

My son is a patient of Dr. Tucker. The staff are so pleasant, patient and professional. They have listened to my questions and concerns with a caring attitude , I have never felt rushed. This is True reflection of Dr. Tucker, he has a warm kind approachable attitude. Dr Tucker explained in great detail what our options were for my son's orthodontic work. He Patiently listened to us and showed he cared. Each visit is always great, we are very pleased with this office.

While I would love to give them a better star rating I SIMPLY CAN NOT. I had been going for a planned 24 month service that ended at 10 months because I did not agree with the way that they handled the financial arrangements . Apparantly their billing employees became impatient with the process of insurance and started to threaten me with paying the portion that my benefits should cover . I even went as far as calling my insurance company to get some answer for them . Went to an adjustment appointment and instead of getting my braces adjusted the lady I believe is married to the actual orthodontist pulls me into a room to discuss insurance again . I'm looking at her holding my Aetna insurance card in my hand and still I'm getting threats about if the insurance doesn't move as fast as they'd like I'll be responsible . ABSOLUTLEY NOT. They are also out of network with NC so please use this information wisely it DOES make a difference. They had always been pushy about the financial aspect which I get it. Gotta get paid . But how is it in my control with how quickly insurance does their part . They sent the claim the next year instead of at the initial treatment . Totally wouldn't recommend going here unless you can afford to just pay for your braces all at once that is what they prefer, Which unfortunately that wasn't an option for me that is why I have insurance to keep from having to do that .

Dr. Tucker is the kindest, most Committed, and dedicated orthodontist you can find. I was one of his very first patients, when he opened, and recently had to go back after losing my retainer and having minor shifting. He is so passionate about your teeth and your happiness with them. He truly cares, and is so down to earth. He will not stop until you are 100% satisfied. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Prices are extremely reasonable. No doubt I will always go to him, and take my kids to him when they are old enough to get braces. He is the absolute best!

My daughter from out of state was in for the holidays and was in pain due to a wire needing to be clipped on her braces. Tucker Orthodontics had me to bring her in and took her back right away. This was done on a Friday morning! I appreciate their kindness, understanding, and compassion. Great staff! Highly recommend!

The word I would use to describe dr Tucker and his team is awesome! My daughter and myself went for a consultation. We were greeted with a warm and caring staff. We decided to get braces. And with every visit we became more and more comfortable with the Tucker team. They were never to busy to stop and answer any questions or concerns we had. We knew we had come to the right place. After a while we thought of them more as family. I would recommend them to any one looking to get braces. I can't say enough how about how great they are! Like I said awesome is the only way to describe them! Thanks for all you did for us and our smiles!!

I have had 3 kids get braces here with only one still in braces. My kids teeth look fantastic. They are always very attentive and there are no long waits to be seen. They have a monthly payment plan so you don't have to pay everything at once but can pay over the 24 months you will likely have braces.

Everytime I go into this place for my appointment and leave, there is something wrong with my braces in the next couple of days. Right now, three of the hooks on my power chain are off of my brackets. I won't get this fixed until my next appointment which is in a little over a month. You can never schedule an appointment easily here because they're always booked. They aren't accommodating at all!
