Born and raised in Plattsburgh, NY, Dr. Heins has been promoting oral health and improving smiles for over fourteen years now. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry. He then carried out his general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Heins has been mentored by his father, Dr. Robert Heins, since 2002, and the two worked together here at Heins Family Dentistry for several years before his fathers retirement this year. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, the Spear Study Club, as well as a former president of the Adirondack Dental Society.
Dr. Heins and his wife Jeannette have two young children, Noah, age 4, and Emmy, age 2. Besides chasing his kids around, he enjoys golfing in his free time and is developing an interest in photography. He is also a diehard University of Colorado football fan. Go Buffs!
Dr. Gerner was told to move to Plattsburgh by the United States Air Force after they paid for him to go to Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry. Although moving to Plattsburgh was not Dr. Gerners idea or choice, staying here was.
Dr Najlaa Hanna received her DMD from Montreal University in 1999. While she was there, she completed a GPR residency which is an advanced program in general dentistry in both Notre-Dame hospital and St Justine hospital. She practiced general dentistry for many years in Montreal Canada. Ten years ago, she moved to the United States. She is certified by both the Canadian and the American Boards of Dentistry. She is also a member of Massachusetts dental society, valley dental district society, American Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
Her vision is to build a foundation of trust by treating her patients as Special individuals. She is a believer that preventive care and education are the keys of optimal dental health. She thinks that thorough exams, checking overall health and oral cancer exams are all part of a dentist job, in addition to giving you a beautiful smile .Treating both children and adults keep the day interesting and exciting. Listening is her first step to understand the need of her patients and their expectations.
She lives in Plattsburgh with her two children and her husband who is also a local physician. In her leisure time, she loves coaching her two kids in different activities, volunteering in their school, traveling and oil painting.

At my age I have had my share of fillings. I have always found it to be a very unpleasant experience. Dr. Gerner filled a cavity the other day. Truly it was not the least bit unpleasant. Dr. Gerner takes great care to make sure of your comfort and he did a great job. Dr. Gerner and all of the staff at True North Dental have always been great. I don't think I could give as good of a recommendation for any professional I have seen that would be as good as my recommendation for Dr. Gerner and all of the staff at True North.

The best dentist I have ever had. Jen continually keeps up to date on current research trends in dentistry and shares her information with her patients in order to improve their oral health. She has significantly improved my oral health with just a few minor but significant suggestions.

Very pleasant experience. No one likes going to the dentist, I'm a weirdo and look forward to it but get anxious in new places. Gave True North a try because of personal reasons and am so glad I did. Everyone is so kind and welcoming and the whole time I was there, zero anxiety.

Found out they don't take my insurance but still charge me 700 for 2 fillings. Had to take my daughter back because they left ridges on the fillings that had to be smoothed down. Takes forever to get in to see them. I'm new in town and someone referred me to them. I'll be looking elsewhere if I get another 700 bill.

I find this office environment to be relaxing with their beautiful paintings & aquarium. Odd, because dental offices usually make me nervous-lol!
