Dr. Refahi was the top graduate of the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery in 2006, one of the best dental schools in the entire nation. He then went on to complete an Advanced General Dentistry residency where he advanced his work in dental aesthetics, implant therapy, cosmetic procedures, grafting, and oral reconstruction. Prior to dental school, our San Diego dentist received an undergraduate in Biological Sciences and Biomedical Engineering.
With a commitment to enhancing his level of patient care and expertise, Dr. Refahi has continually advanced his knowledge and skills through advanced training and post-graduate education, including hundreds of hours of continuing education with a specialty focus of dental implant therapy. Digital radiography entirely outmodes that cumbersome process. Now, a tiny sensor placed in the mouth acts like a miniature VCR camera with an x-ray sensitive chip, exposing you to 50%-90% less radiation exposure than with traditional x-ray techniques. The resulting highly detailed image of your mouth is almost instantaneously translated onto our computer screen, carrying with it all the conveniences of other digitized images. We can rotate it, magnify it, adjust it for contrast, and even color-code it for educational purposes. The Waterlase system is a revolutionary new, sophisticated dental device that uses laser-energized water to cut teeth. BIOLASE received FDA clearance to market the Waterlase system for use on hard tissue (teeth) on October 9, 1998. This combination of laser energy and water-spray creates HYDROKINETIC energy and is a patented technology invented by BIOLASE scientists and engineers.
This wonderful new technology allows you to relax in your chair while simultaneously observing real-time pictures of the inside of your mouth magnified beyond normal size on an adjacent computer monitor! Not only does this make it simple to see and understand what the doctor is telling you, but it makes it simple for us to keep incredibly accurate records from one visit to the next.

WAND is a piece of technological equipment that is used to inject a controlled amount of local anesthesia. It is computer-controlled and the device regulates the flow of the anesthesia in the injection. This can reduce pain and anxiety in patients. It is an advanced dental machine which has made the delivery of local anesthesia simpler and more precise. Most patients report pain caused by injection when administering local anesthesia. This pain is essentially caused by the quick inflow of the anesthetic. WAND slows down the flow of the numbing agent and hence solves the problem.

I was a patient for eight plus year's. I love my dentist and all of the staff. Everyone is very professional and kind. I highly recommend them. If we hadn't moved out of state. I'd still be going. tthem.

I can't say enough about the Dr. Refahi and his staff. Everyone is so friendly and professional. Dr.Refahi did an unbelievable job on my front teeth and after years, finally I get to smile with confidence.

The dental hygienist here are incredibly friendly and even gave me some tips on how to keep my teeth clean and white. The doctors are also great and very friendly. Never have to wait long for my appointments and get in and out very quickly.

Like myself, not many people enjoy going to the dentist, but if I have to go-this is the place! I have been so well taken care of at this facility from all the members of the staff. The front office crew, my dental tech, and Dr. Nick himself all are top notch professionals. Special thanks to Rosa for all her help with the insurance questions, and to Sarah for making me wiggle my toes for so long! haha

I highly recommend this dentist! All of the staff here are so friendly. My tooth pain was misdiagnosed for a fracture by a different dentist and that dentist said there was nothing they could do during COVID. My pain continued so I reached out to True Design. They said they would get me in ASAP. Turns out it wasn't a fracture but a filling infection. They took care of me right away. This place treated me so wonderfully and I trust them fully!

It has been nine months since I had over $10,000 worth of work done and I have nothing but praise for this dental office my teeth could not have come out better I am extremely happy with the way they look and feel the office is very friendly and professional I feel like I made friends with the dentists and all the girls that work there the hygienists are very capable and friendly the girl that took care of my insurance was an expert at dealing with the insurance companies and getting me The most for my money I would recommend True design Dentistry to anyone, Mitch

I have been going to True Design for about 7 years and have never had a bad experience. I recently blanked on my appointment even though they had reminded me several times. They were super patient and helpful to get me in as soon as possible. Highly recommend this family business for top notch dental care!
