Your mouth is in great hands! Dr. Harness is on a mission to earn your trust and provide quality dental care to the Portland community. She loves building close relationships with her patients, and works hard to make each visit as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Dr. Harness earned her DDS degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2014. She received advanced training in a hospital-based dental residency program at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Since graduating, Dr. Harness has actively pursued continuing education courses and study clubs because she understands the importance of keeping up with the latest dental research and technology.
Dr. Harness is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Special Care Dentistry Association. She also performs all facets of general dentistry including crowns, bridges, root canal therapy, fillings, periodontal (gum disease) therapy, implant restorations, extractions, dentures, and partials.
Dr. Harness began her career with Tru Family Dental four years ago in Metro Detroit, and has been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to move closer to family and join our Portland office! In her free time she enjoys traveling, sailing, family camping trips, singing karaoke, and spending time with her new puppy, Duffy.

Tru Family Dental did an awesome, quick and free cleaning on teeth. I could haven't asked for a better experience. Staff is extremely nice.

I went for the free dental day to have a tooth pulled, unfortunately she wasn't able to pull the tooth, but she did everything she could to relieve the pain I was in. She also gave me a tooth cleaning, and numbed my mouth. Highly recommend this dentist. They were amazing

Drove 3 hours for an appointment. Didn't tell me until an hour before that my appointment, that had been scheduled for months, was cancelled. They decided to wait until the day of, after a 3 hour drive... Got me good.

Dr. Harness goes above and beyond! My mom is one of her patients and she took the time to call me on both a Saturday and Sunday to talk me through my teeth issues and even went as far as calling my current dentist to try to get a hold of them when I couldn't. I left a dozen messages over the weekend and she was the only person to return a call. She is professional and knowledgeable, and on top of that you can tell she truly cares about her patients and even her patient's family! She treated me like family and that is so important when you're choosing a trusted professional. I 10/10 recommend Dr. Harness and Tru Family Dental!

Dr Laura Harness did an outstanding job in replacing a broken crown. She was very thorough and explained everything to me and answered all my questions. She ensured that I was completely happy with her work before I left the office. Thank you Dr Harness.

DR Kelly very gentle and calmly explained every step of the way while fixing my broken filling . Hygienist Kim was so friendly and accommodating to my needs and comfort as im a chicken lol would recommend to anyone with anxiety such as myself

They did a great job cleaning my child's teeth my daughter age 4 broke her front tooth I told them that before making the appointment after they cleaned her teeth they then told me they could not pull the tooth and referred us elsewhere it would have been easier for them to just say ok the tooth needs pulled we cannot pull it so as long as your young child only needs a cleaning done this is your place to go if they need mouth work it's a waste of time.

Best.Dentist.Office.Ever! I'm terrified of going to the Dentist. I go years between visits and then go only when I'm in so much pain I can't stand it anymore. Well I have Grand Kids now and guess what.....they all just go off to the Dentist like it's no big deal. I was feeling so shameful and really just wanted to go to the Dentist like it was no big deal. I wasn't in any pain but I knew I needed some work done so I started shopping around. I took a chance with Tru Family Dental Portland.....I was so nervous on my first visit. I explained my history and all of my fears and feelings to the Hygienist.....she was very understanding. Then I met Dr. Kappus and she was so patient and calming and non-judgmental, I started to relax just a tad. That visit went well so I scheduled my next appointment. Normally when a Dentist appointment is fast approaching I want to cancel and I get so keyed up I cry when I get there. But this time I knew if I got too nervous or anxious Dr. Kappus could provide me with some medication. So the day of my appointment I felt good....I actually felt like a normal person just going for a dentist appointment. That visit went very well! To wrap this long story up.....I just want to say Dr. Krista Kappus and her staff are just the very best! Whether you need your hand held, or insurance questions answered, or a full explanation of what's going on with the procedure...do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Kappus.

Dr. Kappus did such a thorough job examining my teeth and explaining different options to me for care of a problematic molar. She really listened to my concerns and took them into consideration when explaining the different approaches to dealing with that problem tooth. She and her assistant were both so personable yet professional. I really felt like I was being treated not just like one of many patients but as a human being who needed some expert dental care. There's something about having to find a new dentist that really made me cringe and drag my feet. It's a relationship that's just not easy to break - especially since I was leaving my dentist of nearly 30 years. I didn't think that establishing a comparable relationship with a new office would be easy, but Tru Family Dental definitely came through. The front office staff and hygienists are SO kind and personable, and Dr. K is absolutely terrific. My kiddos look forward to going and are always excited to see their favorite staff members! Tru Family Dental definitely earned my loyalty and trust.

My two young sons had their first appointments the other day and they have not stopped talking about it! My 5 year old makes sure he reminds us and his brother to brush 2 times a day and chase away those sugar bugs. Great atmosphere for the entire family.
