Melissa Nitta, DDS Dr. Melissa Nittas dental practice is unique, warm and inviting. She focuses on the practice of preventive dentistry and is an expert at creating healthy, natural-looking smiles by treating patients with conservative, tooth-preserving dentistry.

Known for her compassion and attention to detail, Dr. Nitta is highly committed to mastering the latest in dental innovations. She has completed thousands of hours of post-graduate education. Dr. Nitta graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1994. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors in 1998 at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. She holds licenses to practice in California and Hawaii, and is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, Seattle Study Club and Hawaii Interactive Peer Practicum.

Dr. Erik Strommer, DMD Dr. Strommer grew up in the small town of Baker City, Oregon, attended college at Portland State University, and then received his Doctor of Medicine Degree (DMD) at Oregon Health and Sciences University. He followed his lovely wife to Hawaii and has been practicing as a general dentist in Hawaii since 2018. Dr. Strommer and his wife, Dr. Susan Strommer, were high school sweethearts and she also practices dentistry on the Big Island.

In his spare time Dr. Strommer says he tends to have some type of creative project going and enjoys comic cons. You may also find him working something for a cosplay. He has two cats and a Great Dane, and enjoys snorkeling, hiking, D&D and CrossFit.

As a dentist, Dr. Strommer states that [he] enjoys the challenge of problem solving. Nothing beats the satisfaction of working through a problem and achieving excellent results for my patients. Dentistry is a very fun career path, a great blend of healthcare, aesthetics and patient relations.

Sherry RDA & Practice Manager Sherry joined Dr. Nittas team in 2010 and has been a dental assistant for over 23 years. Sherry is very dedicated to caring for you and making sure you receive the best, highest quality dentistry possible.Sherry was born and raised here in Kona. She has four amazing kids and loves taking family vacations! In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, camping, and hanging out with family and friends, watching football. Sherry is very active with her sons sports, and most importantly, she is a 12th man for the Seattle Seahawks!

Stephanie Scheduling Coordinator Although born and raised in Minnesota, Stephanie has been coming out the Big Island yearly with her family since 1996. Traveling full time with her husband for his job as a Journeyman lineman has brought her to live in many places, including Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Nevada, Oahu, Southern California and most recently, Northern California.After living for a year on Oahu, it had been her and her husbands dream to move full time to the Kona area. They moved here in November 2020 and are enjoying every moment. When not at work, Stephanie enjoys hiking, cooking, playing with her two dogs, going to the beach and traveling with her husband.

Angel Registered Dental Hygienist Angel is from a small rural town in northern Wyoming. She graduating from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, in 1996 with an Associate of Science degree, and from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1999 with an Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene. She has 21 years of clinical practice experience as a dental hygienist. Angel is known for being a kind, thorough and gentle hygienist, and she enjoys getting to know her patients!

Angel just moved to Kailua-Kona from Wyoming with her husband Carl, and electrical contractor, and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Angelina. She enjoys the warm, inviting weather of Hawaii and the ocean! She loves to go running, weight lifting, anything active outdoors and going to the beach with her family. Angel is very excited to be here in Kona and to be a member of Dr. Nittas amazing team!

Sherry Registered Dental Hygienist Sherry was raised in a small rural town in Southern Missouri. She began her career in dentistry as a dental hygiene assistant in 2000. In 2004, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in dental hygiene from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. Sherry and her husband, Wayne, moved to the island of Maui in 2008. They have also lived in Colorado. In 2018, they moved to the Island of Hawaii. Sherrys husband is a boat captain and scuba instructor, so Hawaii is the perfect place for them. Sherry takes pride in being a thorough, but gentle, hygienist. Patient comfort is always her top priority. She enjoys getting to know her patients and building trusting relationships with them. When outside the office, Sherry enjoys cooking, exercising, watching sunsets, and hanging out with her husband and two fur babies, Stella Rose and Prince Pudgy.

Kiera Dental Assistant Kiera settled in Kona in 2019 after having lived and traveled all over Asia and Latin America. She was born in the Philippines and speaks two of their dialects, including Tagalog. Hawaii seemed the perfect place, and she has always had a strong connection to the ocean. Living on the North Shore of Oahu when she was younger had always been her favorite. Dental assisting has been her career focus, and she loves being able to connect and care for patients knowing she is making a difference, no matter how small. When she is not in the office, she is at the beach, paddling out, scuba diving, or spending time with family.
