Dr. Hamann received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, he enrolled in the School of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University, graduating in 2007, with honors. Following dental school, Dr. Hamann moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to complete the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the University of Michigan. Dr. Hamann was then drawn to endodontics, as he enjoys the highly precise nature of the specialty. The endodontic residency program at the University of Iowa, where Dr. Hamann completed his training, is widely regarded as one of the top residency programs in the nation.
He holds active memberships in the American Association of Endodontists, the Iowa Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, The Iowa Dental Association, and The Dubuque District Dental Society. He is a past president of the Dubuque District of the Iowa Dental Association and the Iowa Association of Endodontists
Dr. John Lundstrom graduated from Indiana University in 1988, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. After a year as a public accountant in Chicago, he attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School followed by naval flight training where he earned his wings as a Naval Flight Officer. After two deployments to the Bosnia and Herzegovina theater of operations, he transitioned to the Naval Dental Corps, where he graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 2003.
After dental school John completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Norfolk Naval Dental Center, Norfolk, VA. Between 2004 and 2006 he continued to serve as the Medical and Dental Department Head on USS San Antonio (LPD-17).
In 2006 John entered the endodontic program at The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry. In 2009 he graduated with a certificate in endodontics and a Master of Science in oral science. During this time, he remained on active duty with the Navy. From 2009 to 2015, John served the Navy as an endodontic specialist in Twentynine Palms, California and Great Lakes, Illinois. He retired from the Navy in July, 2015. John attained the rank of Captain in the Marine Corps and Commander in the Navy.
John joined his former residency mate, Dr. Hamann at Tri-State Root Canal Specialists in Dubuque, Iowa, in March 2014. John maintains active memberships in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, and the Iowa and Wisconsin Dental Association. He has been published in the Journal of Endodontics. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry where he teaches clinical endodontics to third year dental students.
