Dr. Kirby Skavdahl began his education with a degree in zoology at WSU then graduated from dental school at the University of Washington. He went on to pursue his specialty degree in periodontics at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA. After his residency, Dr. Skavdahl moved to the Tri-Cities and began practicing in 1982, specializing in periodontics and dental implants.
Dr. Skavdahl is a Spear Study Club Leader since 2009, involving multidisciplinary dental treatment planning with great local dentists furthering their dental education and skills to enhance dental care for the community. Dr. Skavdahl also played a key role in the establishment of the Dental Department at Grace Clinic in Kennewick, where he was able to participate in providing dental care for those in the community who are in need of services but are without insurance and unable to afford care elsewhere.
When not practicing dentistry, you may find Dr. Skavdahl on the golf course, skiing, or flying. He has been happily married for 41 years and has three grown children. He is also blessed with eight grandchildren, five of which are under the age of 3!
Dr. Alkanan obtained his dental degree from the University ofManchester Englandin 2010 and practiced general dentistry in both theUnited KingdomandKuwait. He then went on to receive his certificate and master's degree in periodontics from theUniversity of LouisvilleinKentucky in 2017. He has participated in multiple scientific studies and articles, including peer reviewed journals. Dr. Alkanan has also studied in several continuing education courses taught by some of the world's most advanced clinicians, including courses on guided bone regeneration for ridge augmentation and sinus lifts. He looks forward to providing the highest quality of care for his patients at Tri-Cities Periodontal and Dental Implants center.
Dr Alkanan is a Diplomate of the American Board ofPeriodontology (the highest level attainable for the specialty in the United States),is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Excellent patient care and service. The staff are such wonderful people who really care about their patients well being. I had an emergency and they immediately addressed the issue I had with an infected tooth and surgery was needed. Was very surprised that I was literally pain-free the very next day! And the tooth was saved!! I highly recommend Tri-cities Periodontics for all your specialized dental needs. I would also like to say a big "THANK YOU" to Abby for the care given during and after the procedure and follow-up call today to see how I was doing. Now that's care and service by the Staff!!

I was very nervous about the procedure I was having. The staff and Dr. A made me feel so comfortable and confident in what was going to happen, I didn't worry about it at all. After the surgery was completed, I had no pain, an I've never been so happy. In not finished, but I'm sure it will only be just as satisfying. I've already recommended two of my friends to go see this office. 5 thumbs up
