Dr. Leighton Wood is an orthodontist with offices in Kingsport, TN and Bristol, VA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University and his dental degree from the University of Tennessee. His orthodontic residency and Master of Science degree were completed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired in the rank of full Colonel from the United States Air Force after 20 years service as an orthodontist and an orthodontic educator.
Dr. Wood is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Wood is one of the most experienced and leading providers in the Tri-Cities area of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen clear aligners. He was recognized by Invisalign as a Premier Elite Provider, meaning he has treated more than 1500 Invisalign cases and starts about 150 new cases each year. He is an Elite Provider and one of the largest Invisalign Teen providers in the area.

I graduated from Northeast State Dental Assisting Program in 2012 and joined Dr. Woods team shortly after. As one of our assistants, I provide oral hygiene instruction and give our patients the confidence to smile. There is nothing I like more than seeing the results of completed treatment and how much confidence our patients have after they get out of braces.
I have worked for Dr. Wood since I graduated from Northeast State Dental Assisting program in 2005. I find orthodontics to be a very fun and rewarding field to work in. I enjoy getting to know each and every patient. My favorite part about my job is seeing how much patients change and gain confidence throughout their treatment.
When Im not at work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being on the lake or doing anything that involves being outside. I am also the proud mom of one cat, Lucy, and two dogs, Brody and Wiz.
I am the office manager for Tri-Cities Orthodontic Specialists and have been with Dr. Wood since he opened the office 15 years ago. I am also a registered dental assistant and have been in the orthodontic field since 1987. My career has been very rewarding, and I am happy to be a part of creating beautiful and healthy smiles for people of all ages.
Im married with two daughters, Paisley who is four and Taylor who is 13. We have two dogs, a poodle named Macie and golden retriever named Zeus, two gold fish, and a bearded dragon named Smokey. As a family, we love UT football and enjoy going to Knoxville to watch them play. We also like to hike and go four-wheeling.
I have worked in Orthodontics for 12 years. I joined Dr. Woods team about a year ago. My most favorite part of working as an orthodontic assistant is meeting new people and watching their beautiful smile being created.
Ive been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years and we have 2 boys Brycen and Hudcen. I have a 1 dog Stella and a cat Clarabell. I have lived on a farm my entire life where we raise beef cattle & chickens. In my free time I love spending time with my family, shopping, and hanging out on the lake or at the beach.
I graduated from Wytheville Community College in 2015 and have been working in dentistry since. I started working here at Dr. Woods office going on two years ago, and found out orthodontics is my passion! I love meeting new people and seeing our patients love their new smile. I love my job and my work family!
My husband Logan and I have been married for two years, and we are expecting our sweet baby girl Saylor in December. We have one dog, a Great Dane named Kane. In our free time we love traveling and visiting new places, taking our jeep off road riding, and spending time with our families!
I have worked in the Dental field since 2018 and my position as an Orthodontic assistant has been most rewarding. I enjoy getting to working with people of all ages. Im proud to be apart of a team that succeeds in giving their patients the confidence to wear their best smile.
I have always enjoyed going to the dentist and orthodontist as a child! Once I was given the opportunity to become a dental assistant, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I attended MECCs Dental Assisting Program in 2021. Shortly upon graduating, I joined Dr. Woods team. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding dental team at Tri-Cities Orthodontics! As a dental assistant, I look forward to helping others achieve a confident and beautiful smile! During my time at Tri-Cities Orthodontics, I thoroughly enjoy seeing the excitement on a patients face when they reach their desired smile!
I have been a dental assistant since 2019, starting off in general dentistry, but finding my way to orthodontics at Dr. Woods office. I love meeting and becoming friends with all my patients - and watching them fall in love with their new smile!!

We got off to a rocky start here but after sharing my concerns about communication there wasn't one visit that I wasn't updated on my son's progress. I can't say enough about Sarah, she is just pure sunshine. We transferred care due to a move out of state and she got everything sent over before I even made it to my destination. She got promoted to office manager the day we left. Very deserving. The office is clean and cheerful and their payment plans were very flexible.

Took daughter when she was in the 4th grade and braces were installed. She had to wear the braces for 4 years instead of 2 years like we were told. Once the braces were removed no permanent bottom retainer was installed. The results are that her teeth on the bottom are crooked. Furthermore she was recently took to a dentist and we were informed that the material that was used to install the braces stripped the enamel off of her teeth and caused several cavities. I hope this helps, don't take your child to early, find out what material that the dentist will be using and get a permanent bottom retainer installed.

Always a wonderful experience when going in for appointments! I have had 2 children who were treated by Dr. Wood and they had wonderful outcomes with their braces. This made me a bit jealous, so I began treatment with Invisalign in late 2016. I have been treated by Dr. Wood and Dr. Jewett. I am nearing the end of my treatment, as I did the molds for my retainers today! I am excited at my outcome and would recommend these folks very highly! Dr. Jewett is an awesome addition to this highly professional team!

I went to Tri-Cities Orthodontic for Invisalign and there's not a single negative thing to say. My teeth look great and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. The entire office is filled with the sweetest people. I'm usually hesitant to refer people to places, but I recommend them 100%. They'll work with you until you are completely in love with your results.

Dr. Woods and his whole staff are exceptional. They are very professional and knowledgeable. They have always been nice and kind to us. Our son uses Invisalign and we are extremely satisfied with the results. We highly recommend them.

I have been visiting The Kingsport Tri-Cities Orthodontic Specialists for about 3 years now! And They have become like a family to me. I am so thankful for Dr. Wood, and Dr. Jewett's wisedom in their practices, as well as their assistants there. They are very honest in their work, and I will always recommend them, most definitely.
