Growing up, I had the opportunity to be exposed to dentistry at an early age by spending time at my grandfathers dental office. I was fascinated by the biology and science of the face and teeth and how they could be changed to make a big difference in patients lives.I also enjoyed watching the important relationships that were built between the patient and doctor and how much that mattered in the process.
Its rewarding to be able to help children and adults feel better about themselves. I enjoy the artistry and craftsmanship involved in creating beautiful smiles and happy faces for all ages. Its also exciting to work with all the new proven technologies because it affords so many benefits for my patients.
I really enjoy working with people.Anyone that knows me knows I am a talker. I share a lot, but I really want to hear about other peoples experiences and generally learn something new every day from those stories.These interactions often lead to fun and laughter, but sometimes can pull on the heartstrings, but both are important in relationship building.However, one of the best parts of my profession is to watch the transformation that occurs in someone who is embarrassed to smile and then after treatment begins giving the largest smile in the room that is a great feeling and that is what I am here to do for you.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing pickle ball, golf, hiking and watching sports. I also love traveling and learning about new cultures and have been to many different parts of the world, including Europe, Africa and the Middle East.Australia is on the top of my travel bucket list.

Shannda has been a Clinical Assistant in the dental field for more than three decades.She has previously worked for Dr.Harshman andrecently rejoined our team as our Office Manager.Shanndas spunky and upbeat personality brings fun and laughter to our days.
Shannda has a passion for volunteering and helping others.She has adaughter and the most handsome puppy named Kevin.In her spare time, you can find her hiking, camping, and enjoying everything outdoors.
Haleyis our Records Coordinator.She will take your X-rays and photos at your new patient exam.She has been working for Dr. Harshman for more than 15years.If you hear someone singing in the office, it is usually Haley. She loves the patient interactions and, of course, seeing that beautiful smile at theend when she delivers your retainers.
Sara has been a Registered Dental Assistant for a decade and a half,and has been sharing her skills at our office for half of that span.Her witty, open-minded personality is a joy to be around. Sara enjoys all aspects of her job and really enjoys the transformation of a beautiful smile from start to finish. She loves that it feels like she is with family while she is at work with her coworkers.
Amy is a rockstarClinical Assistantwho has been working in the field for more than 20years. Amy really enjoys helping Dr. Harshman during procedures and is extraordinary at giving patients the proper instructions needed to care for their braces and appliances.Seeing patients at the end of treatment with big beautiful smiles is another reason she loves her job.

I highly recommend Dr. Harshman's office if you are thinking about having orthodontic work done! He and his staff, specifically Shannda, have gone over and above to help me every step of the way. From providing flexibility with scheduling, affordable payment plans, to explaining every part of the procedure thoroughly; you can feel the difference in their quality of care, and it beats out any other orthodontics office. I am confident in the work being done on my teeth, and I am grateful to have this supportive team with me through every step of my 3m orthodontic work. I drive to Ionia from Lansing because the high quality of their work, their customer service and customer care. When you are being seen there, you can feel that they care about you and your teeth, you are not "just another customer". We so appreciate Dr. Harshman's office and how they take care of past patients! Our adult son was home for a long weekend when one of his permanent retainers came loose in threw spots. We called the emergency number and were helped later that same day. My son hasn't been there for 7 years but he was treated as a valued customer. If they hadn't helped us, our son would have had to go back where he lives out of state and had to find an orthodontist. We so appreciate having this taken care of here by someone we trust.

I do not recommend this place to anyone that is at risk of developing severe illness due to covid. They have an extremely high rate of unnecessary traffic in and out and questionable sanitary practices. Update: After leaving this review Harshman discontinued services on my daughter and removed all the work they had done. When we came in to get her braces removed everyone was extremely rude and according to my 11 year old daughter caused her more pain than necessary while removing the braces. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
