Dr. Carter has many areas of clinical interest when it comes to oral healthcare, but cosmetic dentistry is one of his true passions. In order to offer the highest levels of artistry and quality possible here in Lawrenceville, he has completed extensive advanced training with some of the most prestigious dental institutes in the world, including the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. Our own Dr. Bruce Carter founded the Brighter Smiles for Brighter Futures foundation in 2001 as a way to help raise money for the fight against cancer in the Gwinnett County area. What started as a small, grassroots plan has grown into a movement with over 40 volunteer dentists raising over a MILLION DOLLARS with the motto Dentists Curing Cancer One Smile At a Time!

Brighter Smiles for Brighter Futures is a teeth whitening program where a patient makes a donation in lieu of paying for dental services. Then, a volunteer dentist provides the service to the patient with no compensation for the services. 100% of the patients donation goes to the foundation. Proceeds from the 2016 campaign went towards new 3D breast imaging equipment for Gwinnett Medical Center.

Dr. Carter chose to achieve his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He also attended the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, where he completed the Cosmetic Dentistry Continuum Level II.

When it comes to continuing education, Dr. Carter has gone above and beyond in every way. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has completed over 1600 hours of advanced training since leaving dental school. These courses covered all sorts of advanced dental restorative procedures, implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and full/partial dentures (including implant-retained dentures).

Dr. Carters studies have also taken him to several of the most prestigious dental organizations in the world. He has finished level six of the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, where he received in-depth knowledge of the restoration of complex dental problems. He furthered his education in complex treatment planning and gingival plastic surgery at the Kois Center in Seattle, WA. He has also studied with Dr. Arun Gargs Implant Seminars and through the Pikos Institute, where he focused on implant dentistry and gingival (gum) plastic surgery.

Prior to joining Dr. Carters team in 1990, Rhonda worked for a periodontist for eight years. Overall, her career in oral healthcare spans nearly 35 years. Working at Transforming Smiles is a unique and fun experience because of the relationships that are formed with generations of patients. She likes getting to know families and helping show them how to keep their smiles healthy for life.

Outside of work, Rhonda has been happily married to her husband, Mark, for well over 30 years. The couple has two sons and four grandchildren. Rhonda is passionate about assisting others through her membership at 12Stone Church - Sugarloaf Campus, where shes a member of the greeting team. She stays busy in her free time by traveling, watching movies, and reading. Shes proud to be Cajun by birth, Texas by the grace of God, and Georgian by choice.

Pattys dental career spans over three decades, starting when she decided to pursue dentistry in her junior year at high school with great passion. She earned her Associates Degree in Applied Arts from DeKalb College after she graduated from Avondale High School in 1979. She became a Certified Dental Assistant in 1980 and earned her Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification two years later. She expanded her knowledge with Lab Tech training in 1985 and achieved advanced training in CPR in 2001. While working with Dr. Carter, she also completed Implant Training in 2015, Oral Sedation Monitoring training in 2016, and Phlebotomy & PRP Training in 2017.

Patty is proud to be an important part of the Transforming Smiles family of dental health professionals and work alongside Dr. Carter. She is always eager about new techniques and technologies in order to further expand her knowledge in dentistry while helping Dr. Carter with restorative, cosmetic, and dental surgeries, including dental implants, extractions, and tissue grafting.

A lifelong Georgian, Patty enjoys the outdoors, gardening, reading, watching movies, and going to festivals. She is most happy when shes spending time with her grown son, daughter, and two grandchildren.

Originally from Athens, GA, Sonia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. She has been working in the dental field since 2017. Her favorite part of this job is interacting with the incredibly loyal and kind patients! Many have been visiting Dr. Carter since they were kids and now have kids of their own, which is amazing.

Outside of the dental practice, Sonia is married to a wonderful man who she met at the University of Georgia. She has two daughters as well, neither of whom have missed a day of school since Pre-K. She really enjoys watching movies in her free time, as well as hanging out with her loved ones, baking, and participating in game nights.

Teana attended the Gwinnett Technical Institute for her dental assisting degree and is also certified in Obstructive Sleep Apnea. She joined Dr. Carters team in 2017, and her overall career in the dental world spans over three decades! She really loves working alongside the other team members and the wonderful patients.

Originally from Los Angeles, Teana is happily married with two daughters. Her passions outside of work are traveling, karaoke, and spending quality time with friends and family members. She also speaks Spanish and plays in a handbell choir!

Prior to joining Dr. Carters office, Chanell had been working in the dentistry for over a decade. Shes been at this practice since 2019, totaling 14 years of experience in the dental field. One of her favorite parts of being a dental assistant is being able to help others achieve a better and healthier smile.

After graduating from Redan High School, Chanell attended the Georgia State Perimeter College and went on to enroll at Learn to Earn Dental School. Since then, shes earned a diploma in Dental Assisting and certifications in X-rays and sleep apnea treatment.

Originally from Oceanside, CA, Chanell grew up in a small yet unique family. She enjoys writing, singing, and being a loving mother to her son. Feel free to crack a joke the next time youre with her as she has a great sense of humor!

Although Juliet is new to our practice, she certainly isnt new to the field of dentistry. In fact, she graduated from Clayton State University over two decades ago and has been helping patients improve their teeth, gums, and smiles ever since! All these years later, she continues to love that each day brings with it the opportunity to build a genuine relationship with her patients and help them toward their optimum dental health.

When she isnt with our team, you can find her spending time with her husband, Mitch, and their two cats, June Bug and Coco. Outside of dentistry, her interests include going to the beach, boating, reading, making jewelry, baking, and doing yoga.
