Inspired by his paternal grandfather, who practiced dentistry for over forty years, Dr. Kohler is dedicated to the practice of dentistry and strives to provide exceptional care to his patients. Whether its spending extra time to make sure the patient is well-informed or a post-op personal phone call, Dr. Kohler makes patient experience a top priority.
Although he brings to the practice experience in all phases of dentistry, he has taken a particular interest in more advanced oral surgery procedures such as implant surgery and cosmetic smile makeover dentistry. Dr. Kohler is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the Academy of General Dentistry which keeps him up-to-date on the latest treatment advances. He is also a certified Invisalign orthodontic treatment provider.
Dr. Kohler is a life-long learner and is committed to continuing his education by attending conferences and courses where he receives extensive training and remains up-to-date. He also attends dental study clubs to further his learning.
It is important to Dr. Kohler to stay active in the dental community and give back. He is a Clinical Faculty Instructor at UCSD School of Medicine Dental Clinic where he educates pre-dental students and provides free dental services to those in need. He also has served mission trips to Brazil to provide free dental services and speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently. He is a member of many prestigious organizations including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Diego County Dental Society and the Northwestern Medical and Dental Association.
Dr. Kohler was born and raised in Poway, Calif. His familywife, Jane and two sons and daughteris what matters most to him. Family trips, adventure motorcycle riding, reading a good book and anything outdoors in our beautiful San Diego weather are his most enjoyed activities outside the dental practice.

It starts with a Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan of your mouth areas that youre considering having dental implants. Using specialized 3D imaging software, Dr. Kohler can then visualize the placement of dental implants in three dimensions conducting a virtual surgery before ever touching your mouth. This eliminates the guesswork involved in determining what parts of the jawbone offer the best sites for dental implant placement.
Next, a surgical guide or template (which resembles a nightguard or athletic mouthguard) is made and positioned in your mouth. The openings in this template form precise guides for the placement of the implants accurate in terms of position, width, and depth. This technique has revolutionized the industry and provides more accurate and safer positioning of dental implants, giving your permanent teeth in hours, not months.
While X-rays provide important information that we cant get from any other source, they dont show you everything thats going on in your mouth. Thats why we have invested in an intraoral camera a highly advanced piece of diagnostic technology that allows you to see what we see inside your mouth.
The intraoral camera is approximately the size and shape of a dental mirror. It has a built-in light source, and serves as a tiny video camera that allows us to zoom in on one tooth with magnification. The images can be displayed on a television or computer monitor, so you will be able to see problems such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque accumulation, cavities next to fillings and excessive wear. We can also print or email an image for you to take home with you. These images are also very useful in gaining acceptance for treatment from insurance companies.

With this milling unit on-site, our lab technicians are able to manufacture long-lasting and natural-looking restorations available in a surprisingly short period of time, which, of course, saves you, the patient, time and doctor visits. Further, we can make adjustments to your restorations shades and fit while you are in the office.
Cone Beam CT scanner is a an advanced technology that allows us to use x-rays to make 3 dimensional images. This is very important when evaluating patients for wisdom teeth surgery, implants, and root canals. Our Cone Beam CT scanner uses 10 times less radiation than a traditional CT scan and provides a wealth of important information.

Dr. Kohler is amazing and takes time in examining my daughters mouth. He cares about his patients and does a thorough job. My daughter took a hit to her mouth area with a Field Hockey Stick, I wanted to make sure her teeth were not impacted. Thankful her teeth are only sore and no permanent damage. Thank you Dr. Kohler!

This team is the best team! I will miss them! If you want gentle hygienists and a friendly doctor this is the place you want to go! And they really remember you and your family. That's a lot when they have so many patients and they only see you every 6 months! The only doctor I'm willing to drive all the way from Oceanside for!

Dr Kohler is great, and doesn't unnecessarily burden you with dental work that you don't really need (like some of the other dentists I have encountered). He communicates well. Him having a lab on his premises is a big plus and a time saver.

My wife and I have been going here for many years and we are very happy with the professionalism. The staff has been the same people during that time which tells you that they are happy employees. There is a positive vibe every time I go in. They explain the costs, procedures, and communicate very well with reminder texts. I have nothing but great things to say about Town and Country Dental.
