Dr. Theroux graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with highest distinction. He also completed his specialty residency in orthodontics and obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota Graduate School.

Dr. Theroux is respected in his field. He has been selected by the Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners as an orthodontic case reviewer/consultant to the Board. Additionally, he is fully Board-certified. He is one of two Board-certified orthodontists practicing in Lone Tree, and one of only three who are Board-certified in Greenwood Village. In Lone Tree, the other is his business partner, Dr. Barefoot, who became Board-certified in 2016. There is a true advantage to having two Board-certified orthodontists in one office. Less than 20% of the orthodontists practicing in Douglas and Arapahoe Counties are Board-certified.

Dr. Theroux has lectured on the local, national, and international level on orthodontics. See the section on Lectures & Articles for more info on Dr. Therouxs orthodontic education presentations. Dr. Theroux is grateful to have been asked to lecture at the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session on six occasions since 2001. This is the worlds largest orthodontic continuing education event. He has also lectured at orthodontic conventions in Canada, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean.

Dr. Theroux is the inventor of the Theroux Phase One Essix Retainer. It was featured in the July, 2003, issue of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics (JCO). This appliance is now one of the most commonly used orthodontic appliances in the world. In December, 2011, his Theroux Phase One Essix Retainer was again featured in publication, but this time on the cover of the JCO! His article was also featured in Practical Reviews in Orthodontics as a must read and is now required study for many orthodontic residents as part of their training.

In 2012, Theroux Orthodontics was recognized in The Progressive Orthodontist Business Journal as a dedicated practice for clinical care and progressive technologiesone of only four practices nation-wide to be selected for the year. Every year since 2008, the dentists of Colorado have selected Dr. Theroux as a Top Orthodontist as featured in 5280 Magazine. Additionally, his patients have selected him as Best of the Best in the Colorado Community Newspapers readers polls nine times. In 2015, The Denver Post Strength in Health Awards were given out to the Top Health Care Leaders in Colorado. 18 Awards were given and Dr. Theroux was the top placing orthodontist in all of Colorado!

Dr. Theroux and Dr. Barefoot provide orthodontic treatment to 8-10 local children each year on a completely pro bono basis. Recipients are required to perform a 40-hour community service project as part of the programs Pay it Forward Clause. Dr. Theroux received the 7Everyday Hero Award from channel 7NEWS, the ABC network affiliate in Denver. The 7Everyday Hero Award is given to Coloradans who initiate solutions, motivate others, represent or serve working families and work on a non-profit basis.

He is also a member of the Schulman Study Groupthe oldest and most respected study group in the United States. Membership in the group is by invitation only and many of the most well-known orthodontists in the United States are members. Dr. Theroux purchased the practice from the late Dr. Robert Bushey in 1997, and has been in operation since 1960!. Many of our patients parents were treated here! Dr. Barefoot is the third orthodontist to serve our community through this practice, and Dr. Theroux is delighted to have him as part of the team.

Dr. Theroux and his wife, Christine (also a dentist) have two sons. When not busy with his family and his practice, Dr. Theroux enjoys playing tennis, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, fly-fishing, and traveling. He is also known around the office and the community for his intense interest in his patients, his crazy memory, and his love of games and contests. He is also proud to say that he is now treating children whose parents themselves were his patients as teenagers!

Before you read further, you may be saying to yourself, What an odd name Barefoot. Well, Dr. Brooks Barefoot hears that a lot, but his patients admit it is quite an easy name to remember. His last name is actually English, and NOhe does not treat patients without shoes on!

Dr. Barefoot grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. From his childhood, he always had a focus on sports. From baseball at an early age to basketball in high school to golf in college, he has always had a commitment to learning and refining his athletic skills. Aside from his athletic focus at the University of Central Missouri, he graduated with a 4.0 G.P.A. and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. He received his degree in Dentistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with top honors and completed his Specialist Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as the Chief Resident from the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

He is one of three Board-certified orthodontists practicing in Lone Tree, and one of only threewho are Board-certified in Greenwood Village. One of those is, of course, his business partner, Dr. Theroux, who has beenBoard-certified since2006. There is a true advantage to having two Board-certified orthodontists in one office. Only 19% of all orthodontists practicing in Douglas and Arapahoe Counties are Board-certified.

With his advanced training in Invisalign, labial and lingual braces, surgical and non-surgical approaches, he has developed the skills to treat a wide variety of patients. He is a member of the American Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontics. In 2014 and 2015, the dentists of Colorado have selected Dr. Barefoot as a Top Orthodontist as featured in 5280 Magazine.

Another important component of Dr. Barefoots life is his commitment to giving back to the community. He has been a long-time participant in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and has worked routinely with inner-city youth. He is also excited to participate in Total Orthodontics own program Smile for a Lifetime. Last year, he joined over 1,000 people in Maryland who took the Polar Bear Plunge into the Atlantic Ocean during the winter to raise money for the Special Olympics. He has also served on several medical and dental teams that travel to Third World countries to provide medical care to the underprivileged.

Though you will typically see him working in the clinic, you may also catch him hiking or biking a mountain trail, skiing down the slopes, lifting weights in the gym, or playing a new song on his guitar. He is married to Dr. Ashley Barefoot, and together they have four beautiful children, Emerson, Adalyn, Levi, and Lawson.

I have been working for Total Orthodontics since 2004 . I have loved working for Total Orthodontics. I have been proud to see the work that the practice has done and the smiles that we have produced. I love seeing the children grow with confidence and know that we were a part of that growth. My own grandchildren have been patients in this office and so have I.

Theresa Bakken is our non-profit TOgether Project Director. She gets great joy from getting to know the Smile recipients and seeing them pay their gift of a smile forward in our community. She came to TO as a patient mom and a patient herself. She spends her time outside TO beekeeping and making candy with the honey she harvests.

Jenine is a native to Fresno, California, but moved to the Centennial state in 1997. She has been the director of the TO Gives program since 2014. She, her husband of 17 years, and two teenage daughters love to travel, go camping, and try new restaurants.

Since 1960, that is how long our practice has been creating great smiles in the Denver area. Over 20,000 incredible smiles have been created in our office, and we are now even seeing third generation patients of the practice! We have been around a long time, but our approach to orthodontic care and our offices are thoroughly modern. Total Orthodontics is known for our honest, conservative approach to orthodontic treatment. Only a small percentage of our patients undergo two phases of orthodontic treatment, as the research supports, and very few have permanent teeth removed.

  • Dr. Theroux and Dr. Barefoot are theONLY Board-certified Orthodontists in Lone Tree. Fewer than 20% of all orthodontists practicing in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties are Board-certified. Board Certification matters!
  • We are the only area orthodontic practice to offer TWO 5280 Magazine Top Orthodontists in one office and our doctors and staff are FUN! We are also the only office with two full-time Board-Certified doctors.
  • We give back to the community! We have given away over 100 sets of free braces to deserving children through our organization that is guided by a youth board and includes community leaders. I am honored that in my 10 years of involvement, I have seen approximately 100 children receive afreesmile and a lot of loveand theconfidence that comes with that! The journey for my daughter started over a decade ago with Total Orthodontics. In all of that time we have always had the best experience and full confidence in the treatment being provided. Back when our dentist gave me the business card for TO, she said "don't even think about going anywhere else". I fully agree with that statement.

Total Orthodontics is the real deal. Dr. Brooks is a caring individual who treats his patients with respect while providing the highest quality of service. The staff is friendly and always goes the extra mile to ensure I am comfortable. I particularly enjoy the open concept in which transparency is practiced. When I walk this office, I am confident I will receive the best treatment by Dr. Brooks and his team. I highly recommend TO.

I am approaching 40 years old, and getting Invisalign was the best decision I made for myself. Dr. Barefoot and Dr. Thoroeaux were great. Zhabhi was my technician who always made me laugh and smile. She made me feel comfortable and made me like going to the dentist. I'll miss her! Ahreahn was the other technician who was so sweet and attentive. I highly recommend Total Orthodontics to anyone, and I absolutely love my new smile!

When we first started looking for an orthodontist for our son, we thought the reviews of Total Orthodontics were almost too good to be true but, since they were five minutes away, we gave them a chance. Whatever you do, don't hesitate! We are ecstatic with our choice! Both Dr Theroux and Dr Barefoot are very knowledgeable and it is extremely convenient to be able to see either one and have it completely seamless. The staff are competent, gentle, and considerate. Everyone makes an effort to learn your, and your child's, name. If the doctors are told something they remember and will actually ask about it later because they are genuinely interested in your child as a person and not just a paycheck. Everyone, doctors and staff, have gone above and beyond to accommodate my son's insatiable curiosity and are willing to answer all his questions about what is going on with his teeth. He has sensory issues and knowing what was going on and having them tell him step by step what was happening made our experience a great one! (Braces off in one day! We're getting popcorn and hard shell tacos!) We are going to need a second stage of braces later and I already know my son is looking forward to it with anticipation and excitement rather than fear and reluctance. I couldn't be more thankful to Total Orthodontics and my only regret is that they weren't around back when I needed braces.

I have been going to Total Orthodontists and seeing Dr Theroux for a few years now. The staff is amazing and i've became very close with a lot of them. I used to have a severe underbite but Dr Theroux was able to find me the best surgeon and now I have a completely different face and my jaw is where it should be. I couldn't be more grateful for the staff, if you are looking for an orthodontist. Total Orthodontists is the best!

Had an exquisite braces journey with total orthodontics, from the treatment plan to the staff everyone was well caring and happy all the time. They answered any questions without making you feel weird about the simplest ones! Dr. Barefoot and Dr. Theroux both listened carefully to your wants and provided no filtered expectations. Would definitely recommend them for anyone who is in search of an orthodontic office!

Both Dr. Barefoot and Theroux are kind, but I think patient feedback is taken for granted at this office. My treatment plan entailed realigning my jaw and bite for aesthetic purposes. For years, and I had bands and springs attached to my braces that pulled my jaw bones and strained the mandibular joints. The force on my jaw was so much that the metal spring actually snapped in my mouth and I had to have an emergency repair when part of the spring kept stabbing me in the mouth every time I talked. As soon as bands were installed on my braces, I began to experience popping in my jaw. Eventually the popping progressed to locking; my jaw could not open all of the way and my bite force was vastly reduced. I complained about this to one of the doctors (I don't remember which), and I was told to keep the bands on for a while longer. Months passed, and finally I could not live with it anymore. My jaw would become stuck in different positions; the pressure was so intense that I felt my jaw would snap off if I tried to move it. By the time I was finally listened to and my bands were removed, it was too late. My braces were removed years ago but I now live with permanent jaw pain and asymmetrical muscle tightness that I never had prior to the treatment. I have to wear a 400$ night guard every night, and I still wake up with a sore jaw and popping that continues throughout the day due to the trauma done to my jaw. On a separate and additional note, I have a friend with perfectly straight teeth that they put braces on. This was not necessary and caused her more pain/money loss then she should have experienced; she spent a year in them and the braces unaligned her teeth and then realigned them. She looked no different then she had before the braces. My point is do not trust these guys blindly. Get additional opinions and don't let them try to realign your bite or jaw in anyway unless you want to risk suffering permanent jaw pain. They do not consistently provide the best treatment advice, and you should be more aware of that going in than I was!

Can't say enough about how amazing TO is! From the front office staff, to the technicians and the Drs! Both of my kids have received their ortho treatment here and I am so happy with the results. Dr. Theroux truly puts patients first and goes above and beyond.

We have had such a wonderful experience with Total Orthodontics! My daughter's smile was a major project and the personal attention that Dr. Theroux has given us over the many years leading up to her braces and during the years in braces went way above and beyond. He and his staff collaborated with oral surgeons and dentists to give my daughter a perfect smile. Our memories of TO are definitely something to smile about!!

Total Orthodontics is a great place to have orthodontics work done. Both my daughters and husband have been patients and have beautiful smiles now! Both Dr Theroux and Dr Barefoot were personable and explained treatment well. The rest of the staff took such good care of my girls. I whole heartedly recommend this practice!
