TLDR: Extremely overpriced, do your research! I started with Total Health Dental Care in April 2022. At my first check-up, they claimed I needed a deep clean, a night guard, and a cavity filling. The total charge for these procedures/items came out to over $2000 (and that's after insurance took a bite out). I was shocked but because I hadn't been to the dentist in a while, I didn't do proper research and accepted the charge. I then made the mistake of doing post-payment research. I discovered that their prices for night guards and deep cleanings were multiple 100s of dollars more than other dentists in the area. Moreover, during my deep clean, my hygienist mentioned multiple times that my teeth were in good shape and she didn't think I needed the deep cleaning. Needless to say, I felt like I had been majorly ripped off. I did not write a review when all this happened even though I was furious and felt like I had been taken. Today was my final straw though. I called to see how much it would cost to get a wisdom tooth removed. The quote came out to over $900. I called two other dentists in the area who both gave a quote of under $500 without insurance for the same procedure! When I called Total Health back to ask for their pricing rationale, they re-quoted me $345. I asked what caused the sudden drop in price and they did not know but said they would put me in touch with billing. When I called billing, they told me that I had actually overpaid for my procedures from earlier this summer and so I had ~$600 in credit. This means that they were going to automatically reapply my credit to another procedure without letting me know that I had the option to withdraw it. Obviously I did withdraw the balance, cancelled my appointment, and am booking an appointment elsewhere for over $500 less. Extremely crooked behavior.

I had an excellent cleaning with Diane this time. With her expert advice my mouth is much improved and my gums are in great shape. She has worked with me over the last few years and has told me how to really get things together. I really want to thank her for her good advice and excellent work. Jessica did a touch up on my bridge which is amazing. Love this place. Edit- updating my review for my most recent visit on 10/20/22. Another great cleaning with Diane and excellent work with her. She has a great touch with the tools and excellent manner. Thanks so much!

The Berkeley location was not honest about whether they were in network. They also told me my estimated portion was going to actually become much less in reality because my insurance would cover much more. I was charged in total of $800 ish for three fillings and a cleaning. I am now speaking with the clinic on this matter as they gave me my estimate with the insurance portion and patient portion after my fillings had already been done. Literally they gave it to me on my way out the door after the procedure after I had to ask them for it. If I had known it cost so much I wouldn't have done it. They should have given my estimate to me before I had gotten the procedure done and explained it to me.
