Dr. Baker is a native of Long Island. He grew up in Huntington and graduated from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. Dr. Baker earned his dental and orthodontic degrees at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Upon graduation, Dr. Baker was recognized as being the best clinical dentist in his class and was awarded the Operative Award for Excellence. He was given the honor of the Long Island Odontology Award for being the top graduate from Long Island.
After receiving the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Award, Dr. Baker was asked to teach both general dentistry and orthodontics at Columbia University. While studying at Columbia, Dr. Baker met his wife Sylvia, a general dentist. They have four children. The family enjoys going on vacations, boating, and fishing.
Dr. Klein attended Emery University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating, Dr. Klein attended NY University College of Dentistry where he obtained his dental degree in 1990. He then went on and completed his general practice residency at Mount Sinai hospital in NYC.
Dr. Klein then furthered his studies and obtained his specialty in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Mount Sinai. He has been in private practice in oral surgery since 1996. In 1998, Dr. Klein joined our practice. He enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, and a variety of other sports. Dr. Klein likes traveling and spending time with his wife and three children.
Born in Chios, Greece, Dr. Stampelos and his family immigrated to New York at the age of 8. Raised in upstate New York, Dr. Stampelos attended Siena College in Loudonville, NY. After graduation he obtained his DMD degree from Tuft University in Boston, MA in 1991. He continued his studies, obtaining his general practice residency from St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
Upon completion of his dental studies, Dr. Stampelos moved to Long Island where he began practicing in general and cosmetic dentistry. He took over Dr. Smith's practice in 1993 and formed the current practice. In 1997 Dr. Stampelos changed the office name to the current Total Family Dentistry of St. James. Dr. Stampelos is married and has three beautiful daughters. He loves to bike ride and spend time with his family.
Born and raised on Long Island, Jennifer obtained her dental hygiene degree in 1992 from SUNY Farmingdale. She joined our practice in 1997 and has been providing hygiene care to our community. Jennifer is married and has three beautiful girls that keep her very busy. Together they like to travel and enjoy Disney. She loves to spend her free time with family and friends.
A current resident of Long Island, Deni was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Deni obtained her dental hygiene license at SUNY Farmingdale in 2000 where she was on the Dean's List and President's List throughout her time in Farmingdale. She has been in private practice since graduating hygiene school and joining our office in 2001. Deni is married and has three young children that keep her very busy. She loves to travel and is involved in the children's school programs. She enjoys reading and Starbucks.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Cathy obtained her dental hygiene degree in 1994 from SUNY Farmingdale. Upon graduation, she received the Dental Hygiene Award of Excellence and the Aggie Spirit Award. Throughout her time in Farmingdale, Cathy was on the Dean's and President's Lists. After hygiene school she furthered her education by obtaining her local anesthesia license from SUNY Stony Brook.
Cathy has been in several private practices and has been with Total Family Dentistry of St. James since her graduation in 1994. Cathy is happily married to her teenage sweetheart of 30 years. Together they have two beautiful daughters, one of which has followed in her footsteps and is also a dental hygienist. Cathy spends her free time with her family and also enjoys scrapbooking and photography.

I have been a patient of Dr. Joanna Stampelos for a long time now. Her help with teeth whitening and making the perfect smile exceeds all other dentists I have tried. 10/10 recommend!!

I am over ninety and sometimes people think I'm 89. Just being funny. Anyway I went to TFD this morning and had the pleasure of being "worked on" by the prettiest dentist, Joanna Stampedes. She went through the procedure before, during and after. I'm hungry right now but Connie is making me Chicken Soup for the Soul. I forgot to retrieve my tooth or whatever was in my Gum go will have to write the Tooth Fairy a note and hope she believes me and maybe sends me some more costume jewelry. Hope I spelled your name right.

Dr. Spirito gave me a filling, and then Dr. Stampelos gave me a root canal. My tooth feels better than ever and no pain!

The best of the best! Two amazing dentists. Dr. Stampelos has been the only dentist I've ever felt comfortable with. He always goes above and beyond for his patients and puts his heart into everything he does! Dr. Joanna is so knowledgeable and compassionate .. always making sure her patients have quality care. Office staff is always easy to get in touch with and do their best to accommodate my schedule.

My family and I have about ten years of experience visiting Total Family Dentistry... and have been seen by almost every staff member on site. We've had nothing but excellent service experience from each and everyone. We've had all kinds of dental work done here without any issues! We've recommended to our friends and extended family... and they all are very greatly appreciative for recommending and extremely happy with their experience... Dr. Gus and Dr. Baker which we've mostly visited are amazing people always putting a lot of effort into their work. And the hygienist all have great personalities and love their job!

Found the office staff very accommodating. Gus put a cap on my tooth and put a lot of effort into it. The dental Hygienist couldn't of been nicer.

It makes me sad that others have had a bad experience but my experience has been excellent. In fact so good that my wife switched after me and we send our daughter there too. The dental hygienist is the best I have ever had and even has you bring in your toothbrush and she'll help you figure out if you're missing spots when you brush and other tips. Her personality is great and she truly loves her job, and you can tell. My family does not have any major dental problems so our experience with the dentist is limited to standard checkup stuff. But the hygienist is 1 in a million!

They told my brother he needed to take his tooth out cause it was too late to save it. Then the rude male dentist sat down with my brother and proposed implants and took all his time to talked about money-- How much it will cost each options. And pressure him to take his tooth that day. He, didn't do and went to see a REAL Doctor dentist. The new dentist told him the tooth could be saved. He had a paint free root canal, no crown. His tooth is like new. That was 3 years ago. Do not go to these dentist They are crooks and incompetent, and can they care less about sending you to specialist or saving your tooth. They are a perfect exhibit A of all that is wrong with our health care system in our country. I saw a documentary recently how Americans are going to Mexico to get quality dental health care. Sad.

I was told I was going to have a root canal and to come back after infection was gone. Then i come back (another rude dentist saw me this time) and I'm fine without infection, and he tells me that I need to take the tooth out and to put implants (this without even taking another xray). When I asked why? and explained the change that from my original visit to the time the infection was gone, not much time past. Yet he told me it was too late and too much work for him to do a root canal. I was like WHAT?? I just left. I'm now having my root canal done at another dentist who doesn't want to take my tooth out and charge me for implants. I gave them another try and I kept an appointment with Total Family Dentistry for a simple filling. I figured, oh well I will do extraction at the clinic (my insurance covers extractions-- plus Total Family Dentistry does not have a dental surgeon-- and I though "let me ask them just get a filing in another tooth that has been bothering me," and when I got there my original dentist that was going to do the root canal was there (I requested her). But now she doesn't want to contradict the other guy on his order to extract my tooth. So, I didn't even bother to mention the root canal or extraction. . . To make story short, she gave me the run around and basically didn't do the filling saying that I don't need it. I told her i had pain for months, and she said," she doesn't know why." What she didn't know is that i saw another dentist a day before that (for my root canal) and he told me i needed a feeling in that other tooth and that is why it was hurting-- I have an appointment next week. . In conclusion: It all went to hell there the day I saw the other dentist, he was arrogant, rude, and all he care was telling me to spend money on implants. I will never go there again! Took money from me and did nothing other than waste my time.
