EducationA native of Michigan, Dr. Glen Maylath earned his bachelors degree from Kalamazoo College. He then moved on to the University of Detroit School of Dentistry, where he served his last two years as class president. Dr. Maylath, a Gulf War veteran, received advanced dental specialty training when completing a general practice residency at Fort Riley Kansas. He earned the rank of major while serving six years overseas with the U.S. Army.
Family and FunAs a father of three, Dr. Maylath enjoys working in a family-friendly environment. In fact, his wife, Claire, serves as the office manager at Total Dental Fitness. When he is not at the office, Dr. Maylath enjoys teaching and participating in a variety of outdoor sports. He is a ski instructor with Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School and a cross country running coach at Cranbrook/Kingswood High School in Bloomfield Hills.
Dr. Lauren Mies, DDS, is a Metro-Detroit native. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2013. After graduation, Dr. Mies provided comprehensive dental care in a well-established private family practice in the North Shore of Milwaukee until relocating back to Michigan after the birth of her son, Benjamin, to be closer to loved ones and raise her family. Dr. Mies and her husband, Jeff, welcomed their daughter, Isla, shortly after arriving back in Michigan.
Dr. Mies enjoys all aspects of dentistry and prides herself on a conservative, patient-based practice philosophy. She enjoys expanding her clinical skills and knowledge by taking a variety of continuing education courses. Dr. Mies is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Oakland County District Dental Society and the Motor City Study Club.
Outside of the office, Dr. Mies enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, running and staying active by being outdoors, exploring new recipes in the kitchen and traveling. She looks forward to meeting you and your family in the office soon!

The service is amazing. At 9:30 pm a piece of one of my back teeth broke off. I recalled the office had previously communicated by text, so I sent a message at 9:30 pm what happened and asked to see if I could schedule an office visit. I got an almost immediate reply - " would you be available to come in at 9 am tomorrow?" I could not believe it. I didn't expect a reply by 9 am let alone an appointment. Absolutely incredible!

This was a fantastic experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and took time to explain things. The office was clean, comfortable and had all the needed technology on-site such as a 3D X-ray. They also have heated massage dental chairs!

Never did I think I'd give five stars to a dental office. BUT Total Dental Fitness is exceptional from its front office people to its professional dentists and dental staff. [I've moved several times in three states and had, by far, the best experience here.] Dr. Maylath, with whom I've had the most contact is meticulous in both his work and in his step by step descriptions of what he is doing. Very calming. Rather like a travelogue of my teeth. Other dentists in his practice whom I've had contact with have a similar approach. . . And the dental hygienists are the most skillful and intuitive that I've seen. Also, very friendly and relaxed. Dr. Maylath has ever-so-rarely hurt me a slight bit, despite complicated work. And I've not left the office with that over-drugged numbness that takes hours to wear off. Many crowns and temporaries are made the same day in the office. Saves so much of my time. * And above all, the dental chairs have heat and massage functions. Not much, to some but oh-so-much to others.

Wonderful Staff. Clean Office, everyone is helpful and professional. You get friendly reminders for your appointments and there has never been a problem with anything. Location is ideal! Again highly trained staff. Feels like family everyone cares and welcomes you warmly. My teenager kids also feel good about this place. Thank you Team!
