Dr. Vertongen is a proud graduate of Santa Clara University. He graduated in 1983 with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Vertongen then attended University of the Pacific Dental School, where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1986.Dr. Vertongen has been practicing dentistry in Bay Area since 1986. He has been in his current San Mateo location since 1991.
Dr. Vertongen is also a member of the Academy of Osteointegration(AO).He is a graduate of the Las Vegas Implant Institute(DIILV). He has over fifteen years of experience in dental implant tooth restoration. Dr.Vertongen has lectured on dental implants locally and abroad, including his international appearance at Dr. Brenamarks Symposium in Sweden. Because he provides both placement and restoration, patients can receive complete implant care all in one place.
Dr. Vertongen grew up in Brugge, Belgium. He is married and the father of two kids, Justin and Stephanie. Dr. Vertongen is an avid soccer player and soccer fan. He played varsity soccer for Santa Clara University and won two open cup championships with theGreek Americans during dental school. He continues to play soccer year round and has won two national over-30 and over-40 championships. He enjoys officiating collegiate soccer and is anNCAA national referee candidate.

Dr. Bonnie Murphyis a bay areanative.Dr. Murphy graduated from the University ofCalifornia,San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry in 1997. Her undergraduate education was completed at the University of California, Davis where she majored in biological sciences. Dr. Murphy's area of clinical interest is family dentistry with an emphasisinprevention and patient education. She finds a special joy andbond intreating children. I am a board certified physician anesthesiologist (Diplomate of the AmericanBoard of Anesthesiology 1985, recertification 2009) with over 30 years ofexperience in a wide variety of practice settings.I attended Occidental College in Los Angeles graduating with a degree inchemistry, received my medical degree from Tulane Medical School in NewOrleans, Louisiana, and completed my medical specialty training inanesthesiology at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto.Following my anesthesia residency I joined the clinical faculty of theStanford resident training program in anesthesia at Santa Clara ValleyMedical Center training other doctors to become anesthesiologists beforejoining the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.With the exception of several years in Southern California where I wasrecruited to develop anesthesia services for a heart surgery program, I havepracticed in the San Francisco Bay Area.My experience includes the delivery of anesthetic care for all majorsurgical subspecialties including cardiac, neuro, high-risk obstetrical,pediatric, spinal cord, burn, major orthopedic and multiple trauma surgery.My current practice is dedicated to office-based anesthesia for outpatientsurgical and dental procedures. I had been searching for a new dentist since COVID and moving. It's a hard decision to make and one I do not take lightly! I was recommended the practice from a friend and so happy I went! The entire staff was so friendly and welcoming. I got a tour of the entire place and got to meet so many people and learn so much about their practice! Dr. Murphy was kind and gentle and extremely personable. I will definitely be recommending this practice to others!

My first time in this office. Very nice and great office. I felt very comfortable because everybody was very kind and welcoming . Great staff and associates. Dr. Murphy was awesome she did the full exam and took care of my needs.

Dr. Murphy was great. I've seen her for multiple fillings and she did a fantastic job. She also cleaned up some messing fillings from previous dentists. However, I had to stop visiting the office because accounting could not get the billing right. For whatever reason, they started adding my wife to my bills even though we have separate insurance and charging incorrect amounts for multiple procedures. It took weeks of phone calls to clear it up - the incompetence was unbelievable. Throughout the process, no apologies, even though the billing mistakes were 100% their fault. This was a big red flag for me as one should be able to trust their dentist office to not overcharge.

You want the best? This is where you need to be. I've been a patient since he started in 1985?86. I'm really a weenie when it come to dentistry, Doctor Vertongen and his fabulous assistant Maria are a class act. Maria puts me at ease when I've had difficult dentistry issues. I love how well they work together. I highly recommend this office.

I don't have an iPhone ProbMax with gigabytes of memory. But, what I do have is much more valuable; I have the confidence of having my dental work done by a dentist who always uses the most advanced technologies in the world. That means perfect results, and in a remarkably quiet atmosphere. Dr Vertongen, must be a superb teacher as well, because his assistants are so efficient and effective that you just sit back, relax, and with confidence let everybody simply do their job. "Tony" has even skillfully corrected my horribly crooked teeth, giving me a smile that I had always wanted. I think of him as my dental-care coach.

I've been a patient of Dr. Vertongen's for 15 years and he has really transformed my teeth. My front teeth are capped and used to be very obvious, but Dr. Vertongen has managed to make them look natural and the gums healthy. His assistant Maria is so warm and friendly and helps you feel at ease. All of his equipment is the latest technology. The office is in a lovely area. All of the hygienists and staff are excellent. And Dr. Vertongen is friendly and has a great aesthetic to make you look beautiful.

Dr. Vertongen is a capable, professional dentist who takes pride in his work. He replaced two old crowns that I had and was able to perform the work in a couple of hours on the same day. He has the knowledge and hardware to create custom porcelain veneers in-house, and he's happy to explain the process while he's doing it. His office staff is wonderful and they understand insurance. Look, nobody likes going to the dentist especially as you get older and need work done that is uncomfortable. But a good dentist like Dr. Vertongen helps you maintain (and sometimes obtain!) a healthy and confident smile. I'm grateful my community is home to a great dentist like Dr. Vertongen.
