Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.

The dental implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your dentist is forming new replacement teeth.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Tomeo will uncover the implants and attach small posts that protrude through the gums and will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. When the artificial teeth are placed, these posts will not be seen. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, Dr. Tomeo is able to place single stage implants. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them, but do require a minimum of six weeks of healing time before artificial teeth are placed. There are even situations where the implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth extraction further minimizing the number of surgical procedures. Advances in dental implant technology have made it possible, in select cases, to extract teeth and place implants with crowns at one visit. This procedure, called immediate loading, actually performs the implant placement?

Dental implants are a team effort between an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a restorative dentist. While Dr. Tomeo performs the actual implant surgery, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting if necessary, the restorative dentist (your dentist) fits and makes the permanent prosthesis. Your dentist will also make any temporary prosthesis needed during the implant process.

A single prosthesis (crown) is used to replace one missing tooth each prosthetic tooth attaches to its own implant. A partial prosthesis (fixed bridge) can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants. A complete dental prosthesis (fixed bridge) replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of implants varies depending upon which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended. A removable prosthesis (over denture) attaches to a bar or ball in socket attachments, whereas a fixed prosthesis is permanent and removable only by the dentist.

Dr. Tomeo performs in-office implant surgery in a hospital-style operating suite, thus optimizing the level of sterility. Inpatient hospital implant surgery is for patients who have special medical or anesthetic needs or for those who need extensive bone grafting from the jaw, hip or tibia.

Once you learn about dental implants, you finally realize there is a way to improve you life. When you lose several teeth whether its a new situation or something you have lived with for years chances are you have never become fully accustomed to losing such a vital part of yourself.

A Swedish scientist and orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark, developed this concept for oral rehabilitation more than 35 years ago. With his pioneering research, Dr. Branemark opened the door to a lifetime of renewed comfort and self-confidence for millions of individuals facing the frustration and embarrassment of tooth loss.

There are several reasons: Why sacrifice the structure of surrounding good teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a partial at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing.

If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If you mouth is not ideal for implants, ways of improving outcome, such as bone grafting, may be recommended.

Just before Christmas 2021, I broke a molar biting on a cheez-it cheese cracker. The molar had lasted almost 78 years so it was probably ready to go. The walk-in dentist said it needed to come out and recommended Tomeo & Tomeo Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center. My experience couldn't have been better. Dr Tomeo Sr. saw me within a week and performed the extraction which was painless (under general anesthesia) and without residual soreness. Follow-ups went flawlessly. There were never any long waits to be seen. The office staff, especially Sadie, were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The post implant by Dr Tomeo Jr. went without a hitch. My only observation is that I had no idea how long the entire process would take (almost 10 months from first visit to final crown) and how long I would be eating on one side of my mouth.

I can't believe I'm giving a dentistry a 5 star review but they really are the best! I had a referral for wisdom teeth removal, one impacted and one infected. I've been dreading this procedure but I came in for my consult with Dr Rose and then the day of my surgery I had Dr C Tomeo do my procedure. He was amazing and helped calm my nerves. My nurse, Julie was absolutely amazing. She helped me before and after my surgery and was absolutely amazing. She really helped calm my nerves and assured me I'd be okay!

I am so happy I found this practice! Everyone was super friendly and it helped so much with my crazy anxiety. I had to go in for an emergency extraction on a molar - I don't have dental insurance. They were upfront with the fees and explained everything step by step through the procedure. The dentist was amazing and talked with me like I was a person, not just another detail. Bedside mannerism 100%++. I would recommend this practice to anyone - and everyone who has anxiety going to the dentist like I do. The pricing was more than reasonable and the procedure went flawlessly. Thank you all for everything! Have a Blessed and safe New Year! See you in a few weeks to discuss an implant.

I had a great experience with my surgeon and most of the nurses on staff. I was referred from my dentist to have 3 wisdom teeth extracted. I was nervous about one tooth due to it being close to a nerve but the surgeon reassured me that "they are pretty good at what they do". I was sedated with general anesthesia so I woke up and had normal swelling and pain. The surgeon called me after the surgery and checked to see how things were going and if I had any questions. Overall I loved the experience besides my interaction with Melissa. She checked me in at the front desk and was rude over the phone and rude when I arrived. I think she was upset my dentist was late to send my x-ray over, but her attitude towards me was unacceptable.

I was referred to this professional for emergency extraction via surgery. Not only do I have a fear of general dentist work but, the idea of having oral surgery done really heightened my anxiety. From the time I walked into his office until the process was over his staff made me feel very relaxed and because of that I am truly grateful as my experience was better than I could have ever expected. The doctor made me feel at ease throughout the whole process he put me to sleep did the work and woke me up. He explained what I would experience the next few days and everything he has said has been true. I would recommend this professional to anybody who needs emergency dental work or can schedule their work. He is professional, caring and sympathetic to his patients needs.

This is my 2nd time I have been. Both of my son's had their wisdom teeth out. The staff is very friendly and Doctor Tomeo was great! I love how he calls to check on his patients after surgery. Not a lot of Doctors do that or make time for that.

I was referred to Tomeo & Tomeo by LECOM Dental School to have 3 teeth extracted. I got an appointment the next day which was great and Dr. Rose was very personable. BUT, NO TOPICAL ANESTHETIC was used prior to injections - it was torture! The reason I was given by Dr. Rose was because he always forgets to activate them first anyway. When I made him aware of how badly it hurt, he said, "Well, I told you I could put you to sleep." (Which of course adds quite a bit to the cost so, was not an option for me.) I wasn't planning on leaving a review at all considering Dr. Rose seemed very young or maybe even new to the practice. So, on Monday 5/3/21 I left a message at the office to make Dr. Tomeo aware that this happened and it is now Friday. But, I got no callback or reassurance that the matter would be attended to.

From the person who checked me in to Dr. Charles C. Tomeo who performed my procedure I was met with kindness, compassion and professionalism. My biggest fear is anyone working in my mouth but the entire staff helped set my fears aside. I highly and without reservation recommend you don't look any further than Tomeo and Tomeo for your implant and oral surgery needs.

Dr Tomeo and Dr Rose are outstanding. I've had several visits to the Lakewood Ranch office on SR 70 and can't speak highly enough on the professionalism of all the staff. Dr Tomeo (senior) took time to thoroughly discuss my case, give me options, and review my X-rays. He communicates in a sincere honest manner. Dr Rose also takes the time to thoroughly review everything. I appreciate how they team together so it's seamless on which doctor treats me. They are both caring and compassionate surgeons.

Dr. Rose and his staff made this experience very comfortable. Getting a tooth pulled is not a fun experience. Their staff is knowledgeable and took care of all details, before and after my procedure. I would highly recommend this office.

I had all 4 wisdom removed, almost 2 weeks ago. The day of surgery, they let me keep my fiance in the room until I was asleep. Dr Rose than called at 7:30PM on a Friday night, to check in on me. He was home with his family, as his children were playing in the background. He answered some of my questions and made sure I was feeling okay. I called the office several times over the last week with more questions. Today, they had me come in for a follow up appointment, because I thought there was something stuck in my hole. Doctor Rose looked at it and dug some food out, than took an x-ray just to confirm. The follow up appointment and x-Ray were free! Not even billed to insurance (because I had already had my x-rays for the year). I would highly recommend Dr Rose and his team!
