We are pleased to be able to provide quality dental care for families and individuals in and around Dayton, but we feel like thats only one aspect of our commitment to our community. Dr. Allport and the Todays Dental team are also involved with the Women Care Center, Recovery of Dayton, Remote Areal Medical clinics, the Rotary Club, and many local churches. We are also proud supporters of our local schools, especially the Rhea County High School band and sports teams!
Dr. Allport is originally from Beckley, WV, and he has been working in dentistry for 18 years and counting. He attended Fairmont University before pursuing his doctorate at West Virginia University. He also has his Master of Science in Prosthodontics, which required three additional years of studying after dental school.
Dr. Allport has won multiple dental awards as well over the course of his career, spoken at countless annual dental meetings on a variety of topics, and is currently an active member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, American College of Prosthodontics, and the Christian Dental Society.
Dr. Allport is married to hometown girl Candy Ann, and they have three children together. His hobbies outside of dentistry include tennis he actually had a tennis scholarship in college and still plays on national teams. He also farms cattle. One other interesting fact about Dr. Allport is that hes ambidextrous helpful in dentistry!
Jalena joined the Today's Dental team in 2009. She is one of our Office Coordinators, responsible for the front office, billing and insurance. Jalena has worked in many different areas of customer service. She was Assistant Head Teller at First Bank of Tennessee, Administrative Assistant with the Summit program at Bryan College, and an Admissions counselor at Bryan immediately after graduating from Bryan College. Jalena came to Dayton by way of Detroit, MI. Desiring a christian college education she found Bryan College and graduated with a BA degree from Bryan College in 2001. While working at Garrison Baptist Church as their youth director, she met her husband and they got married in 2003. They now have one son. They continue to be very active at Garrison Baptist Church thru various areas. In her spare time she likes to dabble in wedding planning/coordinating and cake decorating.
Kristie joined the Today's Dental team in 2006. She is one of our Registered Dental Hygienists. She became part of our team shortly after graduating from Chattanooga State Technical Community Colleges with her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. Kristie is certified to administer and monitor nitrous oxide and administer local anesthetic. While attending Chattanooga State she received: Chattanooga Area Dental Hygienists' Society Certificate Of Achievement, Chattanooga Area Dental Hygienists' Society 2006 Scholarship Award, and the Dental Alliance Scholarship. In 2007, she was licensed in local anesthetic. Kristie also graduated from Chattanooga State in 2004 with her Associate of Science. In 1998, she earned her Certificate in Medical Assisting and was in the medical field for 7 years. She is married and has two children. She is an active member of Bayside Baptist. Her hobbies include running and biking.
Heather joined the Todays Dental team in 2011. She is one of our Expanded Functions Registered Dental Assistants. She attended Chattanooga State and received her certificate as a Registered Dental Assistant in 1998. She is also certified in CPR, placing dental restorations, nitrous oxide monitoring, and dental radiology. In 2015, she completed her course as an EFRDA through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She loves being in close proximity to patients and helping them get their smiles back, as well as her wonderful work family. Originally from here in Dayton, Heather and her husband have one wonderful son, an extra special mom, two dogs, and one cat. When she isnt busy at work, she enjoys being active in her church and teaching Sunday School to the best primary/secondary class in the whole world. She also enjoys reading, binging Netflix, baking, crocheting, concerts, traveling, trying new things, anything 80s, and spending time with family.
Candy has been with Todays Dental since the beginning. She was our first Expanded Functions Registered Dental Assistants. In 2009, she had the honor of being accepted into the very first EFRDA program in the State of Tennessee. She completed her course as an EFRDA through the University of Tennessee Health Science in Memphis. She has been working in dentistry since 1999. Shes also certified in placing dental restorations, dental sealants, administering nitrous oxide, dental radiology, coronal polishing, and CPR. What she enjoys most about her job is the people seeing old friends, making new ones, the amazing office family, and more. She also finds joy in getting to serve the community with her Best of the Best husband Dr. Mike Allport.
Originally from Rhea County, Candy Ann is spoiled by her husband and kept active by their three beautiful, talented children.(Tristan, Amelia, and BABY David ) Outside of work, she loves God, being with family and friends, fitness, food, and FUN. She also maybe classified as an adventure junkie since she enjoys hang gliding, para sailing, skydiving, hiking, white water rafting the Grand Canyon, cliff jumping and has her motorcycle license.
Tedra joined the Todays Dental team in 2012. She is one of our Registered Dental Assistants. Tedra joined our team after graduating from Chattanooga State's Dental Assisting program in 2012. She has recently been accepted into the Expanded Function course through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She will be a part of the Class of 2019. Tedra is excited to achieve her goals in becoming an Expanded Function Registered Dental Assistant. She has lived in Dayton for her whole life. Originally from Dayton mountain, she grew up enjoying the farm life where she was raised by her parents. She grew up with three brothers. Now she is married with two handsome sons. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family.
