Todays Dental began in 1980, our founder, Dr. Dirk Newington, had one goal to help patients achieve ideal dental health safely, comfortably, and confidently. That goal holds true today. Todays Dental with its 6 locations across the community continues to be locally owned and operated here in the Omaha area.

In 2012, Dr. Newington sold the practice to his associate, Dr. Brent Rising but continued providing care until his retirement in 2019. Dr. Rising wanted to expand the type of care and experience being offered to his patients in the Millard location. In 2015, two locations were added; one was an existing practice in Tranquility and the other a brand-new office in Elkhorn.

In 2017, an Aksarben office was formed from two highly respected offices of Dr. Richard Whitman and Dr. Steven Coffey, Sr. This new office gave their existing patients a place to continue to get the great care they were accustomed to.

A similar situation brough Dr. John Marcuzzo to Todays Dental family in 2020. His desire was to make sure his patients would continue to have exceptional dental care after his retirement and mentor the next generations dentists.

We are proud of the way Todays Dental has grown while continuing the legacy of care and the meaningful relationships built at these practices. Todays Dental family is doing the business of dentistry a lot differently than its been done before. Were merging the importance of relationships and the best of modern technology to produce an exceptional experience that makes people smile.

My favorite part of working in the dental profession is seeing the outcomes of various treatments: the way someone grins from their new smile, the relief and comfort someone displays from eliminating their pain, and even the satisfaction someone has from being able to chew and eat the foods they love once again. As a healthcare provider, I love being able to take care of people. I am dedicated to providing the highest quality dentistry with all the comforts. I look forward to getting to know people and the challenge of creating a unique and customized plan for each patient. Helping people on a personal level is more fulfilling than I ever thought possible. I was born and raised in a small town in North Dakota. North Dakota State University is where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree. My wife and I, however, have called Omaha home for many years. Creighton University is where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. On July 4th, 2013, we welcomed our first girl into the world. Then again in April of 2018, we welcomed twin girls. It has been fun wearing the dad hat and seeing our 3 daughters grow. We also have five border collies, a cat, and a half dozen chickens. When not in the office, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my family and dogs. I can regularly be found camping in Nebraska, hiking in Montana, or fishing in North Dakota. Having spent time in Honduras and Guatemala helping the under-served with their dental needs, I find it personally rewarding to give back to communities and help the less fortunate.

At the age of 16 I found my calling, I was fortunate enough to be given a job by my family dentist as a dental assistant and knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. As clich as it sounds, the main reason I love what I do is the relationships I get to build with our patients. I am very much a people person and getting to see patients twice a yearif not moreis my favorite part. Most people do not enjoy going to the dentist but my #1 goal is to convince them otherwise (including my mom!). The best part of my day is that no day in the same, I enjoy doing all different aspects of dentistry including crowns, root canal, dentures and my favorite, Invisalign. Being able to provide all parts of dentistry is my goal. Working with the best and most advanced technology and attending my continuing education courses allows me to provide the best dentistry I can to my patients. In 2004, I married my high school sweetheart, Matt. We both attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and are big Husker fans, so many Saturdays in the fall you will find us in Lincoln. We have two kiddos Kenley and Grant who are my everything. Matt travels for his job, so when Im not at the office, a lot of my time is spent chauffeuring my kids around. I love to cook and entertain, and if I werent a dentist, I would love to be a chef and/or party planner. I also enjoy traveling, gardening, and being outsideI am not one to just sit around too often.

My interest in art and science is what initially drew me to dentistry. Over the years, it has grown into a passion. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, but especially getting to know the people behind the smiles. I am excited to be a part of such a great team at Todays Dental. It is so rewarding to come to work in a place where everyone is committed to putting the patient first. I studied plant genetics at Montana State University for my undergraduate. I found my way to Omaha via Creighton University School of Dentistry and have been here ever since. I had such a great experience at Creighton that I joined the faculty a few years after graduation. I have taught at the Dental School part time in the departments of Endodontics and General Dentistry. Through my Creighton connections, I have also been fortunate to be a part of the Henry Doorly Zoo dental team. We go in when animals such as tigers or gorillas have dental issues and help the veterinarians. It is exciting to see exotic animals up close and help them with their oral health. Dentistry is rapidly evolving, from implants to cosmetics and new preventive measures. I seek out continuing education through various dental organizations to stay up-to-date and give our patients the highest quality treatment available. As a result of the continuing education Ive done, I received a Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry. My husband and I have two childrenand two dogs all of whom keep us busy. We love doing outdoor activities like running, hiking, and biking.

I have always been interested in working with my hands to build, fix, and design. Dentistry has been a great opportunity for me to do what I enjoy every day. Staying up to date on the latest research and products is very important to me and I feel that my patients have greatly benefited from my efforts to do so. I always make sure to take the time to explain procedures ahead of time and after to my patients. I want everyone to know what we are doing and why.

My hometown is Papillion, Nebraska and I attended college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I remained in Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry. After receiving my Doctor or Dental Surgery degree I elected to enroll in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Wichita State University in Kansas. This one year long program offered me the opportunity to work side by side with a variety of specialists and other general dentists to learn the advanced techniques and technologies they use in their own fields of dentistry.

I love the relationships that Im able to create through Dentistry. I thrive in environments where I can work with and around people. But even more importantly, where I can get to know people. I enjoy building relationships with patients that eventually lead to trust. I want all of my patients to feel like they can trust me and to know that I care not only about their smile but also, their whole self. Im born and raised in Nebraska. I grew up in the small town of Mead, approximately 20 minutes west of Omaha. I went to Creighton for my undergraduate where I played volleyball and majored in Exercise Science. I then attended Creighton School of Dentistry and graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. My fiance and I met in dental school during my first year. Well be married soon. Together we love to travel, hike, go to farmers markets, bike, and try all the local donut shops.

What I really enjoy most about dentistry is that it allows me to help people in a very tangible way and get to know them better over time. The human impact and relationships are what makes it much more meaningful to me compared to my previous career as an engineer. Dentistry also has an artistic element that engineering does not. Similar to engineering, dentistry allows me to continuously learn and provide the most up-to-date techniques and procedures for the benefit of my patients. One of the most gratifying parts about being a dentist is turning an anxious patient into a relaxed one as I gain their confidence over time.

Originally from the East Coast, I grew up outside of D.C. in Fairfax, Virginia and went to the University of Virginia where I majored in electrical engineering. During college, I was also on the mens rowing team. After graduating, I worked in the defense industry for about 6 years and also received a masters degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Our family moved to Omaha in 2017. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Nia, and our three children, and also help my wife run her business. I enjoy participating with my kids activities and sports, and also enjoy running and weight lifting, spending time with friends, and participating in church activities.

My passion for dentistry developed from my interests in artistic craftsmanship and enjoyment of building relationships with new, interesting people. Having the opportunity to treat various diseases while helping patients feel welcomed and comfortable has quickly turned into a life-long hobby. I look forward to using my vast background of biological sciences to restore and maintain a functional lifestyle for others. Born and raised in southern New Mexico, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology. Following my time there, I moved to Omaha where I attended Creighton University for dental school. Between my time at Creighton and practicing dentistry at Todays Dental I briefly moved back to Albuquerque, NM to complete training as a resident in Advanced General Dentistry as a part of the University of New Mexico Hospital. My wife I and were recently married. We frequent the farmers markets in the spring and summers. We enjoy hiking, camping, and taking on outdoor adventures with our dachshund, Brew.

I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 2015. Go Cats! I went on to complete my DDS at Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2019. I had the opportunity to return home to further my dental education and attend the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Wichita State University. Sarah, my wife of 39 years, and I have two adult children and two grandkids. Together, we started and maintained a solo practitioner dental practice for those same 39 years. We have served the Bellevue community along with the loyal patients of our practice in the same location all this time. We have continued over the years to update procedures, learn new skills, and utilize new technologies to deliver care. We now take pleasure in handing over the controls of our practice to Todays Dental. This move allows us to continue delivering quality dentistry to our patients and at the same time, give back some of our experiences gained over the years to new team members. As we transition, we are blessed with all the benefits received from having wonderful patients, friends, and neighbors. We are grateful for the opportunity to have treated those patients and hope to continue to do so at an easier pace with the help of Dr. Rising and his dental team. The same concern for quality of care and patient comfort will make for a seamless progression.

This was my first time seeing a different Dentist in my entire adult life after my dentist retired. To say I was apprehensive would be an understatement however Stephanie's bedside manner exceeded my expectations. She was simply amazing and I'm thankful that I followed this personal recommendation from Dr Jessen! Thank you Stephanie and thank you Dr Carlson!

Definitely a 5 star dental office -- professionals and staff are wonderful and I feel very comfortable in their care. About a year ago I had to find a new dentist and so glad I decided on Today's Dental - highly competent, convenient and great customer service. Highly recommend. And now, several years later - I am so pleased I made the switch. What a great team providing exceptional dental care!

Lost a crown on Sunday and was able to see the Dentist today Wednesday. Unfortunately this was the 3rd time I lost this crown and now I need to get a new one. The old one got glued back temporarily and already scheduled for a replacement. Thank you!!

God closed doors for reasons sometimes. My previous dentist retired and referred me to Dr. Carlson and Dr. Whitman. When my new door open to this place I like already. My first visit was an emergency visit and Kaykee got me right in. All the staff was very friendly and I've found a new place I can call home for my dental needs.

After my daughter had been in extreme pain from needing a root canal all weekend, the first thing the dental assistant says to her is lecture her on the importance of flossing and how expensive treatment will continue to be if she doesn't start flossing. While I don't disagree with the message, the bedside manners and timing were completely lacking. My daughter started having a panic attack and refused to even see the dentist. It was a terrible experience.

First time here after many years with another practice. Hygienist was friendly and talkative. I made the appt with Dr Carlson per recommendation of my former dentist but that is not who saw me. He did not greet me or introduce himself which is not what I am used to.

My very first visit. The staff was very professional and polite. Everyone took the time to explain every step of the exam, the results of each step of the exam, and treatment plan. First time a dentist has shared pictures of my teeth!

Not super impressed by this place. The moment I walked in I started coughing. I don't know what was lingering in air but I literally couldn't stop coughing. Then I started noticing that my throat was tingling and hurting after leaving the dental office. I'm not sure if they properly clean their tools they use but I got sick after I left that place. Then when I left the receptionist try to say I owed 175 bucks and I was like "no way, my insurance should cover 2 cleanings a year". And then she played it off like she was mistaken. I don't know just a bad vibe .
