While the treatment by provider is acceptable, this is a money machine and their billing department is TERRIBLE! I suppose I shouldn't expect much from a medical facility, but I have spent HOURS on the phone because they don't bill correctly. DON'T let them take your money! * Why is the reply "Call us we'd be happy to help" when I was talked over and told there was nothing the rep could do this morning? My name is not hidden, good customer service could figure this out easily.

This establishment should not be trusted according to my insurance company, UMR A United Healthcare Company. Summary: They had a one million dollar fraud lawsuit from the federal government recently by saying they made appliances when they actually purchased them from an outside lab and thus overcharged (and appear to keep that up), they seem to not actually check with insurance about kinds of coverage before new patients arrive and thus charge large co-pays they shouldn't, and the office is dingy with outdated machines and disorganized paper filing to the point of important document loss. "Consultation" and X-rays were $1,070 plus $21 to get my records which was a mess in itself. More detail: FABRICATOR for mouth appliances: I played dumb and staff here told me it's ROBERTS ORTHODONTIC LABORATORY INC located on 941 Perkins Dr, Mukwonago, WI 53149. I had my insurance call to check if it was in network - and Angela, who apparently reluctantly gave her name, refused to give their establishment ID for my insurance to check, and said she's just the fabricator so it's billed through this place..... which is not ok. FRAUD: I found an article about a lawsuit "TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Centers of Wisconsin Agree to Pay $1 Million to Resolve False Claims Act Allegations" Excerpts: The United States alleges that TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Centers of Wisconsin and its dentists did not fabricate the appliances, but rather purchased them from an outside laboratory that fabricated the appliances. The United States further alleges that they falsely billed Medicare and TRICARE for oral appliances under billing codes applicable to expensive prosthetic devices fabricated by surgeons, rather than other lower paying billing codes applicable to appliances fabricated by an outside laboratory. "Medical providers cannot misrepresent the services they provide in order to increase their billings to government insurance programs," stated United States Attorney Krueger. "This settlement makes the Medicare and TRICARE programs whole and sends a message to medical providers that false billings will not be tolerated." "When TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Centers of Wisconsin submitted claims to Medicare, it promised that it actually provided the services it billed for. This settlement holds TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Centers of Wisconsin to account for its promises," said Lamont Pugh III, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General - Chicago Region. "The OIG will continue to work with our federal, state and local partners to protect vital taxpayer dollars." The settlement agreement states allegations only; the defendants do not admit liability for the allegations. (excerpt end) OFFICE EXPERIENCE: The front desk upon arrival tried to charge me $70 for a copay which I've never done with this insurance. I have no copay, met my deductible so insurance pays 70% to providers and then I pay the rest - so when I expressed confusion she read my card and said OK..? The front desk staff also got argumentative with a concerned, polite, patient about their new mouth appliance. He had to pay hundreds right away to bring it home. He used Flex Spending and it required an itemized bill (which should be standard regardless) and staff got a tone and said too bad this is how it works here - pay now before we run this through insurance or leave it. It was close to $2,500 for his appliance if it was out of pocket. I also read reviews on BBB and google where people have complained about being overcharged and not being reimbursed or it being difficult to get refunds after calling the billing department a lot. POOR ORGANIZATION: The office was outdated (paper records, deterioration, old machines) and disorganized (e.g., staff finding paperwork in the "jungle" that should be upstairs and laughing about it together.) They didn't print all my records I had paid to send over so I had to pull up my surgical documents on my phone...

Been seeing these doctors for years, they know their stuff! It only took a few months to get my jaw feeling better, but the maintenance visits have been great for keeping on top of things and making sure my appliance still fits correctly

Incompetent billing office - just like the other review said. Was sent a bill for an outrageous price from a service 10 months ago. I look at my health insurance - I paid for it already. I have two separate bills that confirm this. Plus, they actually billed it incorrectly the first time around. I feel for those who cannot advocate for themselves against our healthcare system. This is a disgrace to bill someone AGAIN.

Started having very bad jaw pain radiating into my ear and jaw clicking/popping. Dr. Peck was awesome, had an appliance made that resolved my problems within a few months. Highly recommend Dr. Peck.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mackman's for 17 years. After the initial treatment, my jaw has been stable with no problems. I continue to see him once or twice a year. I've had the opportunity to see other doctors in the practice when Dr. Mackman was unavailable and the care provided was seamless. I highly recommend them.

Great doctor, I saw 3 other TMJ specialists before I met Dr Mackman. They were no specialists & did not help me, one even made it worse. Dr Mackman helped my jaw joint to heal & my headaches & jaw pain are very rare. I highly recommend him!

I've been going to this TMJ clinic for almost 2 years. I started out with approximately 23 cm and now I'm up to 49 cm. The doctors and the staff are all very helpful. If you have questions or are unsure about something, Dr. Mackman has the time to speak to you and to make sure you understand what's going on.

I was referred 12 years ago by my dentist to Dr. Mackman when my jaw was locking up. He made me a custom splint that led to a quick recovery. I still wear my splint to bed due to my grinding. Whenever I have had set back or injury he is able to get me in quickly and I am again on my way to pain free eating, talking, and sleeping. He has an friendly and upbeat attitude. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great doctor.

Having had 3 crowns done in 1 year, including 1 root canal, and my age: 66, resulted in left jaw-hinge pain (my words). My dentist recommended TMJ & OPTCOW. I chose the Racine location. I started seeing Dr. Desai in April 2021 to get a treatment plan & fitted for a Bite Guard to gradually make some adjustment to my bite & relax certain muscles in my face/jaw. Started Physical Therapy 2 weeks later with Affiliated Health of WI PT (reviewed separately) in the same Racine office. I finished my PT in office, about a month ago - still doing jaw/neck/shoulder exercises at home (as part of my ongoing self-care). Now seeing Dr. Desai every 3 months - nearing my once-a-year check-up with him. Would Highly Recommend this Treatment Center! All of the staff in Racine made me feel comfortable & answered any/all questions I had. Great People/Great Service.
