I was born and raised in Alaska. I lived in Anchorage until the sixth grade, at which time I moved with my family to Seldovia. This is a small fishing village across the bay from Homer and offered many unique qualities. Our family has spent the summers in Seldovia since 1979.

After my freshman year in Seldovia, I was able to finish high school at a boarding school on Vancouver Island, B.C. I was still spending time in Seldovia at the time and helped run our family Bed and Breakfast during the summer and was able to pursue my goal of becoming a pilot at 18. After high school, I returned to Anchorage to continue my aviation studies, but this time to become an aircraft mechanic. I was always interested in mechanical things and considered engineering in high school. I found my love of airplanes and mechanics could be used to give me employment as I continued my studies. After a couple of semesters, I met my beautiful wife Savanna. I always knew that being an A&P mechanic would be more of a hobby and I discovered that Dentistry could be my true profession.

After achieving my degree in Biology at the University of Alaska Anchorage, I was accepted into the Dentistry program at Loma Linda University. This was a very good school and offered many opportunities to gain confidence and competence in all aspects of Dentistry. I graduated with honors in 2004 and quickly came back to Alaska to work in my mentor's, Jerry Stranik's practice. Within a year, I bought Dr. Stranik's practice and continued building on his incredible patient centered philosophy. Dr. Stranik was 'Old School', and believed that if you treated the patient right, you don't have to worry about the rest. I firmly believe that to be true and believe that if it's not broke, why fix it. Over time, I have been able to bring this amazing practice up the most current standards of Dentistry with Digital x-rays and computer charting. There have been growing pains, but I believe you have to keep learning and changing to keep up.

Speaking of change, my wife and I recently welcomed a daughter (Scarlett) and a son (Max). We have been extremely blessed and feel that everyday is a gift. Life is good! One of the things that I am most proud of at the office is the longevity of my staff. My assistant has been in this same office for 27 years. We have similar stories of patients that have been coming since 1972 when Dr. Stranik began practice. Please feel free to give us a call. We care about you and your family and hope to be able to serve you for many years. Thank you!

Very disappointing experience with this office. We called a day in advance to reschedule an appointment during office hours as my husband could not attend an appointment due to work. We left a voicemail during office hours (with receipts to prove it), yet the office still charged us $75 for not cancelling our appointment. When we called to dispute the claim, they insinuated that we were lying about the voicemail (despite the voicemail receipt proof we have) and would still charge us $75. The office staff was very rude and did not even consider that they potentially made a mistake, and proceeded to charge US for THEIR mistake. Easy to say we will be finding new dentist office. YUCK!!!

I have all good things to say about Dr Lethin. His office and staff are professional and the rates are very reasonable. I am a medical professional as well and have referred many patients to Dr Lethin with nothing but good reports back.

Im a first time customer because I just moved to Alaska. My wife made the appointment for me. I went in to repair a filling. I got a cleaning with hygienist. I went in to get a filling repaired. They did xray and proceeded to repair it. A few weeks later I get a ridiculous bill informing that I had two fillings. Doctor or anyone from his staff failed to inform me or asked me for permission to do a second filling. I called to dispute this bill. The rude, unprofessional manager and the doctor basically informed me that they mentioned there were two fillings and that I approved the procedure. WOW! I'm not arguing that they didn't do the job but that they should have told me prior to doing the job. People make mistakes. I get it. Over $60 they should just waive it especially since they also didn't inform me that my insurance was not in network for their services. I admit that I should have done my due diligence to check with my insurance prior. However most descent medical offices warn customers that they are not in network and they would be not covered fully by their insurer. The average cost for a filling is $250 not $330. The rude manager had the nerve to say why I didn't go to that doctor instead. Really? Calling me a liar and then be unprofessional to say this? My advice to everyone going here is to double check every procedure that is going on and check your receipt when your in the office. Otherwise go elsewhere. I could afford the $60. They know I can and that's the problem. They want to take advantage of the common customer that don't look at their bills. So disappointed. I had good experience in this office until now. Obviously won't be going back and will not refer anyone else.
