Southern manners , a smiling face, that Alabama drawl, along with thirty-plus years experience in Sarasota, give Timothy G. Herring, D.M.D. a unique perspective. Dr. Herring graduated from The University of Alabama School of Dentistry immediately joining his mentor and friend, the late Dr. Kenneth Cooper (who came to Sarasota in 1959). Between the two of us, we have been at the same location on the corner of Floyd and Osprey since 1975. Dr. Herring continues to see many of the patients who started out with Dr. Cooper. I have practiced dentistry long enough to know what works and what doesnt. With a conservative approach to restoring mouths, we can actually help our patients fulfill their dental expectations.
Dr. Herring is a Pankey/Dawson trained dentist which means he strives to evaluate the entire mouth giving optimal care to each patient. Commitment to continuing education is a must in the ever changing world of dentistry. Dr. Herring has been awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in recognition of those continuing education goals. He has also recently been recognized by his peers as a Top Dentist in Sarasota since 2011.
We have a wonderful family of patients that have entrusted us with their dental care and we want to give them the best care possible in as pleasant an environment as possible. I love Dr. Herring. He and his staff made me very comfortable, in spite of the fact that I've neglected my dental care. Don't hesitate to choose him for your dental needs.

Update. It is now 5 months latter and no one from their office thought it might be a good idea to contact me about my experience. On 6/2/2020 I had a very unpleasant experience with the Timothy G Herring dental group, over there bill. I went to see them because I thought I had a missing filling in a rear molar. Even after telling them that in light of the Covid 19 situation money was very tight the dental hygienist insisted on taking an x-ray before the dentists would even take a look in my mouth. She even looked in my mouth and decided that absolutely there was a problem and I needed the x-ray. Which as it turned out was totally incorrect. The dentist advised after 30 seconds of looking in my mouth that there was just a slight indentation in the rear molar and nothing needed to be done. I was there for less than 15 minutes and was charged $183. Of that $35 was for the x-ray $150 was for 10 minutes at the dentists time, almost $1,000 an hour. She also told me that a new crown was about $1,800 which is about 50% more than than my normal dentist who was not available. I recommend you find out what their charges are before visiting their office there are much less expensive alternatives that do great dental work in Sarasota. LIve and Learn. I would be remiss however not to add that the dentist that I saw, Annette Harriman, appeared very competent, was very friendly, and had a wonderful personality.

On 01/31/2020 I broke a tooth while having breakfast with friends and family. Dr. Herring saw me at 4 or 5, that day. A Friday. I was X-rayed, had a consultation , and an appointment for Monday to prepare the area and get a temporary crown. The Doctor and staff knew that I was VERY apprehensive about shots! I never saw it coming, didn't feel a thing! I will get better as I mature. I'm 70. I will get the new crown later today, February 4, 2020. What an outstanding experience. The care was and is outstanding, the price! Very reasonable, no extra charge for speedy service. Yes, I highly recommend Dr. Timothy Herring.

After moving here in 2018, we were fortunate to find Dr. Herring and Dr. Harriman. This practice is absolutely the best! Kind and thoughtful staff. Sarah is the best hygienist I have ever used and Dr. Harriman so friendly yet very professional. I highly recommend this team.
