Summer of 2017 brought strong winds that resulted in the loss of two beautiful flowering crab apple trees on the side of our building. Although we were saddened with the loss of the trees, we 'made lemonade out of lemons'! Although 'molars from mulberries' would 've sounded better, we created a molar from a crab apple! Dr. Timothy Calkins Tim is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska attending public schools through his graduation from Lincoln Northeast High school in 1982. He attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, graduating with Distinction in 1989. For each of the 30 years since graduation, he has been a part-time faculty member in the Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry at the UNMC-COD, instructing dental students as they treat their patients.
Tim is a member of and active in many dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Nebraska Dental Association, the Lincoln District Dental Association, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honorary Fraternity, the Christian Dental Society, and the Capital Dental Study Club. He volunteers at the Nebraska Mission of Mercy dental clinics, the Clinic With a Heart dental clinic and has supported and participated in multiple dental missions both locally and abroad, including the last 5 years helping the underserved in Haiti.
Tim is active in his church serving on various boards and committees, and has taught Sunday School and sung in the choir. He has been married to Joni for 31 years. She is an elementary school teacher and together they have three young adult daughters. The entire family loves to travel, follow Husker sports and cheer on the eleven time World Champion St. Louis Cardinals!
I have been a patient of Dr. Calkins for over 20 years. All of my kids have gone to him since they were toddlers. Very conservative in his approach, never tries to do an expensive treatment if it isnt necessary. Great at giving numbing shots, cant even feel the needle.
Ive been going to Dr. Calkins for several years and will continue to do so. Tim is very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. I very much appreciate the time he takes to educate me about dental health, to show me my x-ray, or to explain a procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Calkins and his excellent team.
You know when you come back from your dentist feeling good you know youve picked the right one. I could go to any dentist in Lincoln but Dr. Calkins and his staff are it for me.
