After spending several years as an associate dentist, Dr. Foster built her own dental practice in 1999 from the ground up and designed her office and practice to be conducive to the treatment of children and patients with fears and anxiety about dentistry.
The practice atmosphere is very lighthearted and upbeat as Dr. Fosters goal is to create an entire generation of patients who enjoy going to the dentist by making their childhood dental experiences nonthreatening and enjoyable. It is eliminating this fear in her patients that is the most rewarding part of her practice.
Dr. Foster grew up in Lutherville, Maryland, and graduated from Dulaney High School in 1988 and then attended Loyola University in Maryland and graduated in 1992. She obtained her dental degree in 1996 from the New York University College of Dentistry.
When she is not at the office or keeping up with current trends in cosmetic dentistry through continuing education seminars, Dr. Foster can be found volunteering at her childrens school, supporting her boys on the lacrosse field, or spending quality time with family and friends.
At age 9, he moved to Maryland from Utah with his parents and three siblings. His passion for dentistry began as a high school student, working part time as a chairside dental assistant in Elkton, Maryland. Following graduation from Elkton High School, he went on to study biology and chemistry, just up the road, at Towson University.
Dr. Swauger received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He completed an oral surgery clerkship and was a member of the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society. Dr. Swauger was given the unique opportunity to provide treatment to severely underserved communities in Honduras, during a dental mission trip. He was an active participant of numerous extracurriculars including the dental schools admissions committee, clinical advisory board, implant dentistry interest groups, and several elective courses.
Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Swauger completed an additional year of training at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. Completion of this optional hospital-based residency program allowed continued development as a competent practitioner and widened his scope of practice. Dr. Swauger strongly values continuing education and is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Maryland State Dental Association, and American Dental Association. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, boating, cars, sports, exercise, and tinkering with anything mechanical. Dr. Swauger is excited to meet the needs of his patients at Timonium Dental.
My interest in dentistry was sparked while volunteering as an assistant at a community dental clinic. Having the opportunity to interact with my community members and contribute to the improvement of their oral health inspired me to continue my journey and become a dentist.
I am a passionate and perpetual learner in the field of dentistry. I enjoy being a part of, and actively participating in numerous dental professional groups including: the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Alpha Omega International Dental Society.

I broke a tooth and was really worried so I called Timonium Dental and got in right away! I was seen by Dr. Swauger and thought he was very polite and well spoken. He really knew his stuff and I trusted his word 100 percent. When I knew the tooth had to come out I was extremely nervous but Dr. Swauger talked me through it and let me know what needed to be done before doing anything. Now my tooth is out and I don't have to continue worrying! I will definitely be continuing my dental care with Timonium Dental!

This office does not display hygiene well at all. I was frowned upon for wanting to keep a mask on until the last minute. There are no HEPA filters in the "rooms", there is no plastic wrap on the equipment, no cover or paper on the chair, terrible air circulation, and the hygienist didn't even wash her hands before putting on gloves. The hygienist was shoving the suction tool down my throat causing me to gag during my cleaning which has now caused me throat pain as well as painful scratches and ripped parts of the roof of my mouth. The dentist didn't look at any of the new patient forms I filled out nor did she bother to verify that my health information was correct. She was in the room with me for maybe 5 minutes before deciding I had somehow acquired multiple cavities within the past 6 months, which she blamed on me, not even bothering to ask what products I use, what medications could contribute to this, or suggesting how to practice better hygiene. I am not one to complain or leave a bad review, but I couldn't let this one go. Especially during a pandemic saftey and hygiene should be a priority. But i've never had a dentist office cause me pain like this from a routine cleaning.

I am a new patient with Timonium Dental and couldn't be more pleased with my visit. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. I had a cleaning done with Deb and she was great! She made me feel comfortable and was very gentle while cleaning my teeth. Dr. Swauger came in to check my teeth and he was awesome super chill. I will definitely be continuing my care with them! Thank you all for an amazing dental experience!

I work in the area and needed a new dentist and found Timonium Dental through my insurance search. The front desk staff made scheduling a breeze and able to fit it into my schedule. The day of my appointment I was called at lunch and asked if I wanted to come in early since they had a cancelation. I was able to get in and get seen with no issues. The office was clean, the staff was friendly. Dr. Swauger was great, explained everything as he was doing it and made sure I was comfortable as he was doing it. Wish I would have found them sooner

I scheduled an appointment with Samantha at the front desk and was able to get in with Dr.Swauger for an immediate emergency appointment. The staff was so attentive and helpful with filling out my forms, and getting me back quickly as possible. I appreciate the lengths of Protection the office has when it comes to covid! I will be switching to timonium dental for all of my future work :) thank you team!

Front desk staff lack accountability and are unprofessional. As a black woman, I'd rather take my business elsewhere. I ran around thinking I didn't have an upcoming appointment. Turns out they spelled my name wrong, didn't apologize for the mixup after 4 calls, and no appointment confirmation sent, no reported record of any appointment until I mentioned, instead mentioned to me that I didn't fill out forms for my appointment scheduled a week out. Then asked if I wanted to cancel after I mentioned calling/driving to different offices to verify. Never again. Will continue to blame the patient and take no accountability.

This might be the first dentist office that i have been to that is not completely depressing. The office was bright, had a nice little fish tank, and a great atmosphere. The most surprising thing about this office was that i saw children smiling in the waiting room, what kind of kid is excited about the dentist, i remember regularly fighting my mother tooth and nail trying to prevent myself from reaching the treatment room. I think this fact alone speaks volumes about the care, hospitality, and attitude of the experts that work here. In my experience, the hygienist was very nice, consistently made sure that i was comfortable, and didnt shame me about my poor flossing habits. I have had orthodontic cement on two of my teeth for the past 10 years that has been there since i got my braces off, this was the first dentist i have been to that has paid any attention to this fact and they were able to remove it for me. its the little things. Ill be back.

I'm completely blown away by how wonderfully caring and attentive this entire group is!!! I was in need of immediate help and with out hesitation I was put on the schedule for same day treatment. I came back for the same issue 3 time after i get my cavity filled because it keep hurting me when I eat. That's fine if you are nice. Other staffs are really nice, but the lady doctor was rude.

My children and I have been coming to Timonium Dental for quite a few years. The staff and dental hygienists are all welcoming and kind. Dr. Swauger is a skilled dentist with a warm, gentle manner who puts you at ease. I highly recommend this practice.

I've been coming to Timonium Dental for over 20 years. This is the best dentist office in the Baltimore Metropolitan area! They are professional, accommodating, and believe it or not - FUN! Most people don't, but I actually look forward to going to my dentist appointments. Everyone I've recommended Timonium Dental to absolutely love it! And the hygienist Robin is the absolute BEST! She does extremely gentle cleanings; she's patient and very personable. If you hate going to the dentist, don't give up yet. Try Timonium Dental, you won't be sorry!

Great kid-friendly practice! Sheryl the hygienist was amazing and kept my mind at ease through the cleaning. I haven't been to a dentist in years and her level of care and engagement was incredible. The staff was also very festive as "The Timonium Zoo" for Halloween, where everyone dressed in animal costumes! Like I said, very family-oriented practice!
