Dr. Kurt Black decided he wanted to be a dentist at a very young age even as a child he loved the combination of precision and compassion. He earned his bachelors degree in geology from Colorado College and in 1993 graduated at the top of his class from the University of Michigan Dental School. After completing a general dental residency at Oregon Health Sciences University, he served in the Army Dental Corp. in Heidelberg, Germany for four years.

In Corvallis, hes become known as a different kind of dentist. His use of advanced dental technology and minimally invasive care, combined with a unique personal style, help to make his patients more comfortable and relaxed than they ever thought possible. Humanitarian dental relief is also a passion of Dr. Black and he, along with the Timberhill Dental team, have enjoyed volunteering in Corvallis as well as Jamaica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Black and his wife, Susan (an OSU alum), have been married since 1989 and have four children. They enjoy traveling, half marathons, and other outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, and river rafting.

Dr. Leah Hickson has worked in different capacities in the dental field since 1990 and graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2007. Timberhill Dental welcomed Dr. Hickson in June 2019 and is excited to have her add dental services such as LANAP Laser Periodontal Therapy to the practice.

According to Dr. Hickson, Comprehensive dental care means considering the health of the whole mouth rather than treating individual teeth when they have a problem. She looks forward to giving Timberhill Dental patients complete information about their oral health status and helping them choose the treatment option that works best for them.

Dr. Charles Eric Jones (call him Eric!) values hard work, dedication, and excellence in all that he does. He is a decorated US Air Force veteran and worked through school using the GI Bill and working nights and weekends.

Our dentists are passionate about volunteer work and providing dental care to a variety of great causes around the world. The Timberhill team has traveled to Guatemala, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic to provide pro bono dental care.

Over the years, weve made custom mouthguards for hundreds of local athletes. We love how sports help young people to develop leadership and teamwork skills, stay active, and see the value of working hard towards a shared goal.

Each year, we set aside a day where we work with local schools to provide free mouthguards. Our mouthguards help protect an athletes teeth when playing contact sports. Tooth loss can lead to lifelong dental health issues and weve heard from many parents who say that a mouthguard helped save their childs tooth!

A native Oregonian, Sandie has been a member of the Timberhill Dental team since 2007. Sandie joined Timberhill Dental after working in retail for several years and loves helping to meet the needs of our patient family.

Tina has been part of our Timberhill Dental team since 1998 as a certified dental assistant. As clinical manager she ensures that the clinical side of Timberhill Dental runs smoothly and efficiently. She has enjoyed her volunteer work for The Corvallis Boys and Girls Club Dental Clinic and NW Medical Teams and in 2000 traveled to Mexico as part of a dental mission. Tina has travelled with Dr. Black to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic to provide dental care for the local people.

Sharonn is the most recent addition to Timberhill Dental and were so glad shes part of the team! She brings with her many years experience in the medical field as an administrative assistant. In her spare time, Sharonn enjoys outdoor activities with her three grown children and loves to travel.

Marie attended Oregon State University before earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Oregon Health Sciences University. She has been a part of the Timberhill Dental team since 2001 and enjoys encouraging great dental health with her patient family. Marie is passionate about continuing education and applying her advanced knowledge to the care of her patients.

In her free time, Marie enjoys walking, swimming, cooking and spending sunny afternoons at the park with her daughter and son. Marie and her family are avid Oregon State fans and love attending Beaver sporting events.

Anne graduated from the University of Bern in Switzerland with a degree in psychiatric nursing. After moving to the United States in 1987 she attended Lane Community College and received a degree in Dental Hygiene. Anne has been part of the Timberhill Dental team since 2003 and loves teaching and encouraging great dental health in her patients.

Laura was born and raised in Corvallis. She grew up as a patient of Timberhill Dental and was inspired to become a dental hygienist from her childhood hygienists, Anne and Marie! Laura received her dental hygiene Bachelor of Science degree in 2012 from Eastern Washington University. She absolutely loves being a hygienist and strives to bring the highest level of care to each patient she sees.

After many years of offering great customer service in the food industry, Jacie graduated in 2012 from the Practical Dental Assisting Program of Oregon and is now a Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. She has loved the experience of getting to know the amazing family of patients we have here at Timberhill Dental. Since she started working at Timberhill Dental in 2012, Jacie has enjoyed providing excellent dental education to the young children we see in the practice.

Kyndal joined the Timberhill Dental team in 2020 as a dental assistant. She is a native Oregonian, born and raised in Philomath. When not at work, Kyndal enjoys spending time with friends and family. She can also be found at the indoor soccer park.

A Timberhill Dental team member since 2019, Tony was born and raised in Springfield and has been a Dental Assistant since 2009. He has enjoyed learning alongside our associate, Dr. Leah Hickson, for over 10 years. His favorite thing about being a dental assistant is working with patients to help them gain a better understanding of their dental health, along with improving patients smile and confidence. During his free time Tony enjoys fishing, hunting, and camping with his wife and two children.

Sierra was born and raised in Corvallis but now lives in Eugene with her husband and two dogs. While growing up in Corvallis, Sierra and her family were patients at Timberhill Dental and she is now thrilled to be part of the Timberhill Dental Team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. When not at work, Sierra enjoys camping, golf, and spending time with family and friends.

Michele is the newest member of the Timberhill Dental team and is really enjoying meeting all of the wonderful patients. In early 2021 she moved to Oregon from southern California where she worked as a college biology professor. Her research was based in botany, so she is always willing to talk about plants! When not at work, Michele enjoys camping, hiking, gardening with her husband and daughter and working on restoring and updating the Queen Anne home she and her husband recently purchased.

I knew I wanted to be a dentist from a very young age. I was drawn to the field because of a great dentist I had when I was young. The compassion, skill, and positive attitude he brought to his work inspired me.

Today, Ive owned Timberhill Dental for over 20 years and look forward to the challenges and opportunities every day presents. I love meeting new patients and showing them a different (and better!) dental experience than theyve ever had before.

Corvallis is my home and I love giving back. You might have seen me on the news as the Candy Dentist. Over the years, weve bought back thousands of pounds of Halloween candy from local kids and donated thousands of dollars to great causes.

When it comes to dental work I have some serious anxiety, so I am always thankful for the calming, spa-like atmosphere of Timberhill Dental. They use the most modern, state-of-the-art equipment available in dentistry. They offer paraffin wax hand treatments to relax you while you get your teeth cleaned!Timberhill Dental is as good as it gets!

I cant say enough about how great my experience was at Timberhill Dental. There are so many little touches (hot towel when youre finished, warm paraffin hand treatments during cleanings, etc.) that make Timberhill stand out. I really felt like they all genuinely cared about me and my teeth and my experience in their office.

I was introduced to dentistry as a profession in 1989 when I went to work as an assistant in an orthodontic practice. Then I became a certified expanded function dental assistant and worked through undergrad until I started dental school in 2003.

In 2007, I purchased a practice of my own in Eugene with the intention of making the dental experience a calm and relaxing one for patients. After 10 years of solo practice, I decided it would be much more fun to work with another practitioner.

I come from a Midwestern family that valued hard work, dedication, and excellence in all that we do. Ive applied that idea to every aspect of my life. I am a decorated US Air Force veteran and worked my way through school through the GI Bill and working nights and weekends with the coroners department in Northern California.

There, I attended California State Sacramento where I maintained a 3.97 GPA and scored in the top 1% on the Dental School entrance exam. I was offered a scholarship from one of the best dental schools in the country, the University of Nebraska Go Big Red! I completed two externships, 1 on the Navajo reservation in northern Arizona and another in eastern Washington where I worked in public health.

Now Im thrilled to have joined the Timberhill Dental team and am excited to contribute to the community here in Corvallis! I love working with Dr. Black and Dr. Hickson and appreciate the warm welcome Ive received from the entire team.

Ive been married to my wife Sarah for 27 years. She just picked up her education where it left off when we started having children and is a first-year graduate student, studying math at Oregon State here in Corvallis. We have 4 children ranging in age from 14 to 24. We enjoy exploring the outdoors. We love hiking, camping, backpacking, and generally exploring. A big part of our connection with each other comes through trips and adventures weve shared as a family.

Personally, I have trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for almost 9 years now and it has become a very important part of my life. I think sometimes we need to do things that take us out of our comfort zone and build character and humility as well as bring joy and accomplishment. For me, Jiu-jitsu has provided that in my life.

As dentists, we are more than healthcare providers. We are trusted leaders in our communities. We have the power and ability to influence our world and improve our environment and providing dental care is only part of that opportunity.
