The first thing you will notice when walking into our office is how much youll feel at ease and at home. Our practice is situated at 2015 Willamette St, Eugene, OR 97405 in a beautiful 1939 historic building.
Born and raised a Eugene resident and a second generation dentist, it is important to me to carry on my heritage. I love everything about our Lane County heritage, and I feel honored to assist our neighbors by providing dental services.
I guess you could say that dentistry runs in my family. My father,Don Tillman, practiced right here in West Eugene for over 20 years. My mother, Melissa, was the office manager. Needless to say,I practically grew up in the dental office. Today my wife, Jesika, works with me as our dental hygienist and does our marketing.I am proud to carry on our family tradition by following in my parents footsteps.
I was born and raised here in Eugene and was even lucky enough to stay in Oregon throughout my college experience. Early on I went to Kennedy Middle School and then onto Marist High School where I enjoyed developing life long friendships and also playing several sports, academics happened somewhere in there as well. From there I moved to Klamath Falls where I played basketball for OIT and received my bachelor of science in biology. Then it was up to Portland for dental school at OHSU.
My dental career is following in the footsteps of my dad, Don Tillman, who practiced in West Eugene for over 20 years. Out of dental school I worked in several different locations either as an associate dentist or part time clinical dentist where I picked up several skills from different practitioners. Some of those include same day CEREC crowns, being Invisalign certified and also restoring dental implants.
My wife Jesika is a dental hygienist, my mom was my dads office manager, and my sister is a dental assistant so this new practice acquisition truly is family, not only in who we can offer services to, but also in its background of how we got here!
Few people realize that in the sixties and early seventies, dentists could not advertise. When the law was finally changed, my dad was one of the first dentists to place an ad in the local newspaper. This ad from 1974, I believe was his first. He drew it himself, and it always makes me smile.
I am a Registered Dental Hygienists at Tillman Family Dental. I was born in California, to Canadian parents, who were studying Dentistry and Registered Nursing. After my parents graduated, we moved back to Canada, to the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. I have dual citizenship, and have a love of both Countries!
I graduated from Dental Hygiene at the University of Alberta in 1986, then began my career in the Okanagan Valley. I proceeded to work in Vancouver, B.C. for 7 years, where I worked with a Periodontist (a specialist that deals with the supporting tissues of the teeth). This was very rewarding work, and I loved being a part of my patients process of improved dental health.
Vancouver is also where we started our family, and we had twin daughters born in 1995. As luck would have it, they had a cousin who had been born in Eugene, 3 weeks earlier. Although we made many trips back and forth, getting these girls together, there was always the possibility that we would move back to the U.S., because we had the option and the motivation to. In 1999, we made the move to Eugene, where my husband was raised. This has been a fantastic fit for our family! Over the years, our children have been involved with many of our local activities that are available, such as Kidsports, Girl Scouts, ballet, gymnastics, horseback riding, skiing at Willamette Pass, hiking Mt. Pisgah or Spencer Butte and camps through the YMCA. Our youngest daughter was born here, in 2002, so shes always enjoyed the Eugene lifestyle. South Eugene has been our home, since we arrived. I enjoy seeing patients come in to the office, who Ive known from the community, over the years.
Currently, I have a blended family with 5 children and 10 acres, just outside of the city limits. Only my youngest is still at home, as the others are either in college, or having recently graduated. Out at our place, we have 3 cats, 3 dogs, and 13 chickens, as well as a large, enclosed garden and greenhouse. I find my joy nurturing my critters and my plants, and learning to cook and process the harvests. My partner is a volunteer firefighter, and we both find volunteer work with different organizations very satisfying.
I started working at Dr. Tillmans office in 2009, and Im enjoying being a part of the transition between dentists. I enjoy providing the continuity for our established patients, as well as welcoming new ones, and being a part of their Oral Health program. I look forward to meeting you, and helping with your dental needs!
This 1930s elegant architecture is located in the heart of Eugene at 2015 Willamette Street. The building was beautifully restored and fully upgraded keeping with its unique historic character and charm.
